Location was gorgeous with vibrant fall foliage and mesmerizing rock faces and although we had some unexpected rain, the crystal clear creek adjacent to the site stayed at a safe level and provided very serene ambiance throughout our stay. Wild animals abound albeit, out of sight; Coyotes, songbirds, owls, and free-roaming horses. The campsite was very tidy and well-kempt with a raised tent-platform, picnic tables, fire pit, covered firewood rack, rake, axe, fire-poker, etc. and plenty of amenities including a bathroom tent with a compost latrine + plenty of TP, sanitizing wipes, and solar-powered lights.
Upon entering the property, we were a little surprised to notice that the campsite is just around the bend from Griffin Cemetery; an unlisted detail in the site’s Hipcamp description.
Tom and Dakota (Tom’s beautiful and alert Shepherd) were both very helpful throughout our stay. They guided us to the campsite (your car will need a decent amount of clearance and AWD as there’s a bit of lite off-roading) and even took our camping gear in a neat little Kubota down the one-minute walk from the edge of the woods where we parked our SUV. Tom checked up on us regularly as the downpour persisted for much longer than forecasted and brought us dry wood, lighter fluid aka “cheat-juice”, and ample kindling for our fire.
Altogether, we highly suggest giving Fox Field Farms a visit! 🏕🏞
