The Property:
Located north of Cookeville in the rolling hills and farmland, our property is on Spring Creek, a state scenic river. Situated between two waterfalls and featuring over half a mile of river frontage to explore. Float, fish and relax listening to the cascading water. Perfect for bird watchers- blue and green herons, ospreys, hawks, bald eagles and more. You may spot the creek critters- minks, beavers, and otters. Various types of bass, craw dad's and minnows are in the creek.
We operate similar to a state park. We are open to the public from 10am-7pm, peak season. We have other listings that are spaced so each of our guests has privacy. Please see aerial photo for an overview. We sometimes have small events (birthday parties, ect) at the pavilion. Please feel free to message us first, if you would like to see if there are any events during your stay.
There are 2 restrooms centrally located at the pavilion. One bathroom has a shower with hot water, soap, shampoo/conditioner included. The restrooms are shared with our other listings. There are USB and regular outlets in the pavilion and WiFi. During warm season the outdoor kitchen is available as well.
We also rent out a Suite which is located above the pavilion.
Quiet hours are 10pm-8am.
Pets are welcome as long as they are leashed and picked up after. Please note there is a gun range 2 hollers away and depending on the season, it can be heard from our property.
Tent in the Trees Listing:
Your tent site is built above the trail and overlooking the creek.
The tent is equipped with a queen bed, linens, extra blankets & essential cooking gear. There is a fire pit with grill and griddles for cooking over wood or charcoal. Really, all you need is clothes, food and drink!
Primitive Camp Site:
The rustic camp site is DIY. It is 300' from pavilion, and 600' from Tent in the Trees. We provide a picnic table and fire pit You bring all the rest of your gear. Typically, you may park next to your campsite.
No RV's, converted vans are permitted. If you have a very small camper, please message us to see if we can accommodate. There are no hookups, and no loud generators allowed.

We discovered this small homestead 18 years ago. It was built by a man preparing to go off grid, but he never did. In the intervening time, we became enthralled with growing vegetables, raising ducks, grazing sheep and hiking the hills behind us.
Then Nicole discovered permaculture and began the process of changing the land using these practices. With our three dogs, cats, goats, sheep, rabbits, ducks and chicken (there is only one chicken), things can be pretty merry around her. There are aquaponics and hydroponics to check out for fun. The camp site is a two-minute walk from the driveway and outhouse so be prepared to carry items in and take your morning constitutional walk.

Our new cabin will feature a queen size bed, adult size folding cot stored under bed, adult size sleeping pad, and a wicker day bed that can be used as couch or bed, coffee maker, and Yeti battery pack for electrical and charging needs. We will provide drinking water and extra water for washing up. We supply all linens and dishware needs. First Aid Kit is provided, but we are just a short walk through the woods if you need anything. Nestled on 1 acre of our 10 acre hobby farm, which includes Peacocks, chickens, 4 cats, 7 Collies and a Weimaraner named Maggie, including a very friendly dwarf goat named Pickles. You may also see wildlife, such as deer and turkey, strolling down the meadow on the lower part of your site. Strands of lighting and battery candles provide a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere in the evenings. Coolers available if you need one. You can bring up to 2 extra tents for families looking for an out door experience . We will also have tents available for rent for families. For additional fees we can provide you with firewood, fresh eggs, homemade breads, cookies, , and ask us about some home cooked meals! Following upstream is an assortment of spots to pitch a tent. *I am in the process of making multiple sites but until I do so it is first come first serve. There are multiple sites at main campsite and along creek, I've had a private event of thirty people staying at once. There are also smaller spots next to waterfall, uphill near cliff and I've had people go below falls for some complete wilderness (blocked by gorge and waterfall). With this being said, I do offer private bookings and accommodate special events!
*I travel for work, so I won't always be here, but I will send directions and details after confirmation and make sure all is savvy during. We are currently offering 4 treehouse dwellings to share our peaceful land full of God's promises. The dwellings are spaced far enough apart for privacy yet not to far of a walk to the common area where the kitchen and shower are. You'll be surprised at how cool the tents stay under the forest canopy in the heat of summer. Then in the colder months we have various heating options to keep you cozy in 3 of the dwellings I hope you come to share this with us, it's an amazingly peaceful area.
Nearly 3 miles of hiking trails to enjoy during your visit. Take a spur trail off the main trail loop and there is a prayer shelter with a fire pit inspired by Luke 6:12 in the back corner of the property. Located at the edge of the prarie on the main trail is a sunrise/sunset/bird-watching platform that is 20 feet in the air with a 2 stage bridge to access it. We updated the outdoor kitchen with a 3 burner propane stove, propane grill and hot running water with a 3 bay sink. Other cooking options include a tripod over the fire and a charcoal grill.
A short 10-minute drive to fire tower rd. brings you to a 2 mile loop trail with 2 waterfalls, Upper and Lower Piney Falls. Ozone falls is just a 20 minute drive. Then toward Spring City is Stinging Fork Falls at 25 minutes. Black mountain is my new favorite place especially the south overlook! The Hiking possibilities are nearly endless and close. I'll highlight one thru hike here since both trailheads are only 20 minutes away and is easy to coordinate with only 2 vehicles. It's a 10.2 mile hike that can be done in either direction and has a little something for everyone including a cave, boulder field, cascade and waterfall. Then you have massive Watts Bar Lake which is only 20 minutes away with a plethora of activities including the excursions we offer!

Located north of Cookeville in the rolling hills and farmland, our property is on Spring Creek, a state scenic river. Situated between two waterfalls and featuring over half a mile of river frontage to explore. Float, fish and relax listening to the cascading water. Perfect for bird watchers- blue and green herons, ospreys, hawks, bald eagles and more. You may spot the creek critters- minks, beavers, and otters. Various types of bass, craw dad's and minnows are in the creek.
We operate similar to a state park. We are open to the public from 10am-7pm, peak season. We have other listings that are spaced so each of our guests has privacy. Please see aerial photo for an overview. We sometimes have small events (birthday parties, ect) at the pavilion. Please feel free to message us first, if you would like to see if there are any events during your stay.
There are 2 restrooms centrally located at the pavilion. One bathroom has a shower with hot water, soap, shampoo/conditioner included. The restrooms are shared with our other listings. There are USB and regular outlets in the pavilion and WiFi. During warm season the outdoor kitchen is available as well.
We also rent out a Suite which is located above the pavilion.
Quiet hours are 10pm-8am.
Pets are welcome as long as they are leashed and picked up after. Please note there is a gun range 2 hollers away and depending on the season, it can be heard from our property.

The tent is equipped with a queen bed, linens, extra blankets & essential cooking gear. There is a fire pit with grill and griddles for cooking over wood or charcoal. Really, all you need is clothes, food and drink!
Primitive Camp Site:
The rustic camp site is DIY. It is 300' from pavilion, and 600' from Tent in the Trees. We provide a picnic table and fire pit You bring all the rest of your gear. Typically, you may park next to your campsite.
No RV's, converted vans are permitted. If you have a very small camper, please message us to see if we can accommodate. There are no hookups, and no loud generators allowed.

Nestled on 1 acre of our 10 acre hobby farm, which includes Peacocks, chickens, 4 cats, 7 Collies and a Weimaraner named Maggie, including a very friendly dwarf goat named Pickles. You may also see wildlife, such as deer and turkey, strolling down the meadow on the lower part of your site. Strands of lighting and battery candles provide a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere in the evenings. Coolers available if you need one. You can bring up to 2 extra tents for families looking for an out door experience . We will also have tents available for rent for families. You'll be surprised at how cool the tents stay under the forest canopy in the heat of summer. Then in the colder months we have various heating options to keep you cozy in 3 of the dwellings I hope you come to share this with us, it's an amazingly peaceful area.
Nearly 3 miles of hiking trails to enjoy during your visit. Take a spur trail off the main trail loop and there is a prayer shelter with a fire pit inspired by Luke 6:12 in the back corner of the property. Located at the edge of the prarie on the main trail is a sunrise/sunset/bird-watching platform that is 20 feet in the air with a 2 stage bridge to access it. We updated the outdoor kitchen with a 3 burner propane stove, propane grill and hot running water with a 3 bay sink. Other cooking options include a tripod over the fire and a charcoal grill.
A short 10-minute drive to fire tower rd. brings you to a 2 mile loop trail with 2 waterfalls, Upper and Lower Piney Falls. Ozone falls is just a 20 minute drive. Then toward Spring City is Stinging Fork Falls at 25 minutes. Black mountain is my new favorite place especially the south overlook! The Hiking possibilities are nearly endless and close. I'll highlight one thru hike here since both trailheads are only 20 minutes away and is easy to coordinate with only 2 vehicles. It's a 10.2 mile hike that can be done in either direction and has a little something for everyone including a cave, boulder field, cascade and waterfall. Then you have massive Watts Bar Lake which is only 20 minutes away with a plethora of activities including the excursions we offer!

The land between this property and the lake is privately owned and the shore is managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. The lakeshore is mostly rocky and governed by the wildlife which make it their home. There is, however, a small boat launch just minutes away on another point into the lake. Dogs are welcome to frolic there as well.
This property also offers lodging in a cottage called The Charming Tiny House Cottage (video: https://youtu.be/fbXngtMQj8s). Currently, this property does not have tent or RV camp sites.

It was very peaceful at Helga's cabin. It's just a sweet, simple space to be quiet and enjoy some alone time with my dog. It was such a treat to be able to talk with Helga in the yard. I wish it had been warmer to sit on the porch and enjoy my coffee. Bad timing in weather (it was 20 degrees!), I would have loved to sit on the porch to drink my coffee. I also would have loved to have more time to chat with Helga. Hopefully there will be a next time!

Had a great time at the cabin. We came in the off season on a rainy weekend that turned pretty cold, but overall it was a great stay. The cabin was very easy to find, had plenty of firewood (absolute must, no insulation) and secluded enough from the main part of the property to really provide that peace and quiet we were looking for. It could use a little tlc, but again, we came in the off season so it's hard to take any points off for that. Would absolutely stay here again.

I can hardly express just how amazing our little vacation at Deer Camp was. My wife and I were blown away by the cozy and welcoming atmosphere we walked into. The photos on the website hardly did it any justice for just how truly wonderful our stay was. We had planned to explore the area, but instead spent our time at the cabin for our entire stay. Mitch and Lori were fantastic hosts and we can’t thank them enough for the care and love they clearly put into the place. They really went the extra mile to stock the place with everything you need and more. My wife and I are already planning our next visit!

This loft perfectly met our needs for a quick, comfortable stopover mid road trip! The appliances all seemed new, the bed was comfortable, the shower was hot, and our fur babies had plenty of space to move around. The host seemed experienced and thoughtful with little touches around the loft (ice in the freezer, shampoo in the shower, hot chocolate and mugs ready for a nice treat, tv on a swivel arm so you can watch from the bed, gate on the patio to keep your dog contained etc) and clear instructions for where to find everything and what to expect. The craftsmanship around the loft was also impressive (well built doors, countertops etc). We would definitely stay here again!

We loved it! The cabin is cozy and cute! Plenty of hiking onsite and friendly dogs/cats to keep you company! Helga was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. She gave great local recommendations and even had fire wood ready for us on arrival! This was great because it had rained the day prior and we had dry wood! The hiking on her property is beautiful. Plenty of rock formations and views. Thank you for a great stay!

Absolutely loved this spot. Honestly, such a gem of a camping spot. Right next to the bigger falls, nice spot to tent camp and have a fire, but also a lovely spot to pull your car onto the ridge of the falls. Me and my dogs had a wonderful camp, even in the pouring rain!
