Camping is often more fun when you can bring your pets along. Fortunately for Rhode Island adventurers, the state is largely pet-friendly. Most state beaches allow leashed dogs to visit from October through March, while those on Block Island are open to four-legged guests year-round. Burlingame State Park, Fishermen's Memorial State Park, and George Washington State Park campgrounds allow up to two dogs or cats per campsite at the campgrounds, but all pets must be friendly and up to date on rabies shots (carry proof to be safe). Pets must also remain leashed at all times for everyone's safety (including that of the wild animals who call Rhode Island's state parks home). It is run as a small non-profit animal sanctuary and is home to rescued chickens, goats, and pigs, as well as two humans and their dog and cat companions. The main property is fenced in and is closed off to visitors. We have two sites; the orchard to explore that can also double as hammock camping, as well as a small wooded nook. Both are next to the goat pen. There is parking for cars and bikes. We try to minimize our impact on the environment as much as possible, and encourage our guests to compost, recycle, and dispose of waste accordingly. Karyssa was really communicative of locating our campsite and was very responsive. She even left firewood for us! The campsite itself was gorgeous, waking up right next to the river was so peaceful. Although it got quite cool in the evening, the fans in the tent would definitely come in handy on hotter nights. Highly recommend packing extra bug spray, she did leave a candle but we needed the extra protection. Additionally be aware of the night critters, we had a raccoon friend walk right up to the picnic table and grab our trash while we were sitting less than 10 ft away at the bonfire! The censored lights were very helpful, the farm store had the supplies needed if you forgot something, the bathroom was rustic and all you need for a camping trip. The campsite is located at the bottom of a pretty steep & rocky hill, if you are driving a car that has low clearance you may have some trouble

Grassy meadow site 1 is a shady, level private area behind the barn. It offers a private picnic table, shared fire pit and compost toilet. Road noise is minimal. We had to consider a couple low branches and rocks when setting up our RTT. We appreciated the convenient location and think with a little more attention to the site prep it will be an excellent site. We walked down the trail and checked out the tent platform. This is a large clean wood platform with views of the babbling brook. This is a very private, rustic hike in and large enough for a tent, table and chairs.

This site is large and private with dozens of unique features and details that make spending time here so delightful. The treehouse was stocked with books, games, led light fans, bug spray, and a refrigerator. From the screened porch we saw so many birds flying over the lake. We enjoyed a walk through the forest and saw a family of turkeys! Outside there is a fire pit, charcoal grill and gas grill. It was very hot so we didn’t get a chance to use these. The host was helpful with our initial questions, and the only thing we would have changed was the 90 degree weather! This site is a short drive from Mystic and Westerly with great restaurants and shops.

Just got back from a wonderful two night stay at Getaway Ranch. Karyssa was a wonderful host who provided us with wood for the fire ring our first night and quick responses to any questions we had. The Overlook site was great, we had plenty of spots to choose to pitch our tents. We enjoyed the view of the river from the stone bench and had great meals and conversation around the table and campfire. The dogs absolutely loved their time here with plenty to explore and we loved having them with us. We also enjoyed the peace and quiet and falling asleep to the sounds of bull frogs and waking up to beautiful birdsongs. We are definitely going to come back again.

The Yurt Campsite was perfect for a camping girls’ trip to celebrate my daughter’s 11 birthday. She especially loved the hammock near the river. Definitely recommend if stopping in Rhode Island! Bathroom was clean, wood for a fire was already set up in a fire pit, and the gazebo was very nice and private.
