With the original home built in 1785, Milk Thistle farm is on the historic register and is comprised of the main house and 5 acres of land. It is run as a small non-profit animal sanctuary and is home to rescued chickens, goats, and pigs, as well as two humans and their dog and cat companions. The main property is fenced in and is closed off to visitors. We have two sites; the orchard to explore that can also double as hammock camping, as well as a small wooded nook. Both are next to the goat pen. There is parking for cars and bikes. We try to minimize our impact on the environment as much as possible, and encourage our guests to compost, recycle, and dispose of waste accordingly. Absolutely magical. The Yurt site at Getaway Ranch is one of those rare, special places that can heal your weary soul. The perfect balance of wilderness immersion and convenience. Will you hear some faint sounds of civilization in the distance? Yes. But, that's a fair trade-off for a FWD accessible site where you will fall asleep to the sound of barred owls and coyotes, then wake up to the beauty of the fog rolling off the river. Lot's of cool amenities. We definitely want to try our the Yurt site's cast iron smoker next year! Thank you, Karyssa!

We had a nice stay at the Getaway Ranch. It felt private and secluded but was still fairly close to the beach and other amenities. Shower was clean and hot. They were quick to take care of us if we needed anything. We were serenaded by crickets and barred owls each night.

We had a great camping time with my friends at main campsite. The view is beautiful and private campsite. The host prepared almost everything we needed for camping, such as firewood, trash bags, and tents, even though we brought our own stuffs. The next day when we woke up, it started heavy raining, but we were still very good, and felt comfortable to take a shower after that. Thank you for the great campsite.

I love the spot. Big property with this campsite secluded in the back. Took a wheel barrel of things down to the campsite by the brook. The final stretch of trail is somewhat steep if you’re carrying a full load of things like I was. It was nice swimming in the brook. Peaceful and would recommend.

We had a great time at the Getaway Ranch. Karyssa had great communication and made sure we had what we needed for a smooth arrival. The camp store and bathroom+shower were nice conveniences to have without taking away too much of that “camping” feeling.
Our site felt private even if we could see/hear other guests going by since we were near the front. Overall it was a great experience and we’d be happy to return.

Back for our second stay at Getaway Ranch this summer. We thoroughly enjoyed the Main Campsite this time. Made full use of the kayaks and I love all the stone surfaces. The space was quiet, private and has it's own dock on Alton Pond. I'm almost certain we will be back again next summer and bringing some friends along too. We had a good time at Uncle Jerry's farm. It was barebones, we cooked hot dogs on the fire, then retired to the tent for some white noise from the stream. We were going through some personal trials, and this was a great escape. The property is lovely and a good spot for just bare bones hanging out and getting away. Recommend ma and pa's for a good sandwich and maybe a sweet treat, and just relaxing and taking in some nature. We did go on a holiday weekend and heard some music from a distance while at the fire pit, but once we went to the tent the stream drowned it out. Not sure if that was due to some rain in the area but all in all a good experience for an affordable price
