We are about 45 mins away from Lake Raystown dam where there is boating and camping and trails. The 1000 steps is a popular hiking trail. About Tyme Farm is a 26 plus acre privately owned farm used for crops such as corn, soy beans and sunflowers. The property includes a 150+ year old stone farm house, large historic barn on the barn quilt tour in Carroll County, renovated camping cabin for those not into rough camping, fields, streams , woods for hiking, plenty of wild life and lots of quiet. The farm is surrounded by other farms in the agricultural preservation program yet you are only 5 miles from stores, movies, antiques and other aspects of civilization or entertainment if needed. Enjoy watching the deer come out of the woods and meander along the stream and fields at dusk and return in the morning. Electric, water, fire pit and a Port a Pot is available even for rough campers. Pets welcome but must be on a leash or exercise pen or with their owners in some way while here for their safety. There is a large fenced yard for dogs that just have to run if needed. Glamorous camping with a furnished heated/cooled cabin is available for rent by the night for those who do not have camping equipment or do not want to rough it. For those that have been camping before and have all the equipment there is plenty of room for a tent or camper near the buildings or by the stream or woods. For RV owners there is 50amp electric service in the barn. You will need an RV extension cord to access it. I have a 100 ft RV ext. cord but it can be farther than that depending on where you park. Bring one of your own to be sure. It is a farm and not set up like an RV park with numerous outlets.

This is a 160 square foot tiny house/cabin in a small wooded area at the rear of my 2 acre property. A separate 90 square foot bath house is also provided. Both are primitive, ie, no electric or running water. The are some solar lights and candles for nighttime. Enjoy laying in the hammocks with a nice camp fire in the evening. The house is heated with a small wood stove but there is no air conditioning. Cook either on the wood stove or over the fire outside. In the summertime it is nice and private with the surrounding vegetation Please keep in mind. This is a primitive setting in the woods. It will be hot in the summer and temperature must be maintained in the winter with the wood stove or Buddy Heater. While I do spray for bugs to the best of my ability, there is a good chance you will encounter at least a few. We are in a residential country setting, so you may experience other wildlife as well. In the summertime while the foliage is up it is quite private, although you can still hear the neighbors. In the winter you will be able to see the neighbors as the trees are bare.

There are 3 campsites located in the gap of the little Mahanoy Mountain and line Mountain range along the little Mahanoy creek. All four campsites have creek access and come with picnic table garbage can and fire ring and Firewood is usually available. There are two Porta potty‘s one located at each end of the sites. There are trails for hiking which extends along an abandoned railroad bed and also up into State game lands and into the deep woods. The hiking in the woods is on an incline. But the hiking on the railroad bed is pretty unintense. There is parking at each site. The sites are spread out along the creek bed ranging from more of a rustic primitive tent camping on site 4 to an open site on site 1.

The White Squirrel Properties include a cabin, rental pavilion and camp site. The camp site sits at the top of a hill and provides a secluded flat site to pitch your tent or park your van/truck camper/truck top tent. You will have this space to yourself. There are 3 campsites located in the gap of the little Mahanoy Mountain and line Mountain range along the little Mahanoy creek. All four campsites have creek access and come with picnic table garbage can and fire ring and Firewood is usually available. There are two Porta potty‘s one located at each end of the sites. There are trails for hiking which extends along an abandoned railroad bed and also up into State game lands and into the deep woods. The hiking in the woods is on an incline. But the hiking on the railroad bed is pretty unintense. There is parking at each site. The sites are spread out along the creek bed ranging from more of a rustic primitive tent camping on site 4 to an open site on site 1.

Everything was awesome. The little cabin stayed so warm and was the perfect size for our family of three plus our doggo! The land was beautiful. Theresa and her husband were both so kind. We loved meeting their farm of animals. And she was easy to get a hold of and easy to chat with. We will definitely be going back. The porta potty is a short walk and they are working on a bunch of upgrades in the cabin too. The emus are wonderful and sweet, we visited them multiple times a day. I could go on and on. 100% recommended for an upgraded camping experience. Look forward to trying them out in warmer weather too!

I loved the tiny home. My partner and I had a great time. Definitely bring cooking equipment though if you plan to cook. I wasn’t sure whether to bring any, and saw it said it had basic cooking equipment but it wasn’t much to work with. Other than that everything was great. Easy to navigate and arrived without issue. Came late so couldn’t find the cabin, but customer service was great and helped navigate us in the dark. Would definitely recommend and come back to the campground when it’s warmer out!

Star Lee is a wonderful setting for a bucolic visit to Central PA. Close to Raystown Lake and other state lands it offers a nice stay for anyone to hike, bike, hunt, or fish in the area. Stargazing and daydreaming also included. As a working bee and hay farm, Star Lee offers the opportunity to settle in, relax and enjoy. It is clean, comfortable, and obviously well cared for. I highly recommend Star Lee and am still enjoying their honey. We’ll be back.

I loved the little cabinette because it lets so much light in. It was a great place to stash my stuff too. It’s a beautiful location and convenient setup, not far from civilization. Fire pit and cooking grate worked well for me. Karen also makes a wonderful breakfast at the B&B which campers can opt into. Next time I’m headed up that way, I hope to try out the B&B for a night.

We have stayed in a lot of hip camps, but this by far is one of the very best that we’ve stayed in. Some of the highlights: cozy cabin nicely decorated. No heat or electricity, but he had lanterns for us, but we brought our own. Nice outdoor area with a picnic table and a fire pit that was perfect. Also a gas grill for us to cook on. He is two other cabin places, but they are so far apart that you can’t really hear or see anyone else. The property is huge and it is a working bee farm and it was very cool. These are located nowhere near the cabin, so you never have to worry about the bees being near your cabin. Highly suggest you learn about raising bees from our host! He has delicious honey for sale and an awesome piece of property with lots of different birds and deer. we walked around his property the first day and went 1.7 miles so it is very large. Also, very nice that it is a close walk to the flushable toilets and hot water showers. This was also a huge plus for us in October. Kevin is very responsive. He is also retired military and very compassionate and energetic about his farm. We came up for the end of the road half marathon/4miler, but in addition to that there is much more in this area if you like the outdoors. We did not go to Raytown Lake / Alpaca farm which we will visit next time. We love to hike and within 15 minutes is beautiful hikes with awesome views in including the thousand steps and the standing stone trail. We highly recommend!!!

During the Winters Months in order to rent a 4x4 with chains is required. Close to Gettysburg, Pine Grove Furnace State Park (with two Lakes (Laurel and Fuller) Michaux State Forest and Liberty Mountain Ski Area. Appalachian Trail Museum is nearby as well as Golfing (Piney Apple Golf Course), Fishing, Hiking and Biking Trails. The road to the cabin is not paved and steep in a few areas, but well maintained. Please use caution at night. Also anyone staying in the winter months, a vehicle with 4x4 and/or chains is required to stay on the property.
