This property and farm has been in our family for 3 generations. In 1964 my grandfather started the campground due to limited camping at New Germany. My father tells stories of it being filled with guests all summer long! Over the years there was few upgrades and now it's in need of a facelift. Nice and quiet and secluded. Firewood was there. It was a cold night and was able to setup my tent no problem and park onsite. Directions to site were accurate. Note there is no phone service there, which was not an issue. Had the best night of sleep Ive had in years.

This is a great spot to tent camp under the trees, enjoy a campfire (with firewood supplied!), and stargaze at a relatively secluded spot. The hike down to the creek is beautiful! I would definitely return to this spot.

There was plenty of open space to create our own setup, we were far enough away from the city and close enough to Ohio Pyle to go hiking Saturday morning. Had a wonderful experience at Laurel Highlands! Maggie is a super friendly and attentive host, and the space was perfect for our needs. It’s not as tucked away as some other campsites we’ve been to, but that did not dampen the experience at all. It’s a bit elevated from the surrounding area and it was really cool to see the fog roll into the lower elevations at night. Some of the space is on a slight incline but it did not affect our ability to find a good spot for our tents or placement of our cots. I will definitely be planning to return again!

The campsite was a little tricky to drive back to. Definitely a job for an SUV. That being said, once we pulled up it was nothing but fall leaves, green ferns and dense trees all the way around. Fire wood and a fire pit as promised. Perfect spot for our tent, camp chairs and the all important camp potty. We took our pup and had no issues whatsoever. It is a beautiful site. On Saturday we made our way to Ohiopyle for some hiking. We had a great time. I would definitely recommend this HipCamp.

The perfect spot to entertain a 3 & 5 year old! We had access to a shed filled with games, toys, and kiddie pools. The kids loved the playground equipment and the swings. We took our dogs on several walks along a wide mowed trail around the property. Bathrooms were spotless. Always thankful for property owners who allow us to stay and enjoy their property!

We had a fantastic stay at Family Camping, specifically at the Slice of Solitude site! We brought our RV and were very pleased with the full hookups available, which made everything convenient and stress-free. The campground has a great balance of relaxation and recreation. There are playgrounds for the kids, a volleyball court, and even a shed stocked with activities to keep everyone entertained. The pavilion with electricity was a great bonus for gathering, and the bathrooms with showers were clean and easily accessible. What really made this trip stand out for us was the open land and trails for riding go-karts — something we were hoping to find when looking for a campground. On top of that, the atmosphere truly felt like camping, while still offering the comfort of modern amenities. We left with wonderful memories and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend Family Camping if you’re looking for a campground that has both a classic camp feel and plenty of activities for all ages!

What a great site ! Jim was fantastic it was our first time using Hipcamp and everything was a positive experience. Any questions I had Jim would answer right away. Site has a deck a fire pit and lots of spots to pitch a tent. And a great spot for truck or van camping as well. Nice and quiet and peaceful. Lots of trails and places to hike and explore. Also it’s really nice to find a place that is dog friendly. And the site was clean. Very clean and well kept. Lots of wildlife around. And nice and quiet and dark at night. Spot has really nice tree coverage and lots of shade and protection from wind and rain. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. We didn’t want to leave lol. This site is close to just about everything in the area. We’re not the type that likes to camp in campgrounds with people next to you. We like our privacy and peace. We were offered firewood but it was so nice out we didn’t need one. But has a great fire pit. Jim was fantastic couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Just a lovely spot we will definitely be back. And we highly recommend this site.

Weekend Trip to All Ferns Most of the Time

Jim’s land provided lots of space & privacy. We had a large, 6 person tent, a shower house, a hammock, and filled the provided deck with all our kitchen items. We highly recommend a stay!

Weekend Trip to Slice of Solitude

What a beautiful location! We car-camped this weekend and were so happy here! Rick was very welcoming and provided a helpful sheet featuring the amenities. This is a very large well-groomed field with open camping and has a proper pad for RV with electric and another pad close by (no electric, but perfect for our cars). It has a very large pavilion with tables (could seat 100?), big playground with tetherball as well as a shed full of games (corn hole, frisbee, bocce, etc.). A comfortable and very clean bath house (electricity, shower, 2 stalls, 2 sinks) was much appreciated. We were mostly by ourselves, but this place could accommodate a very large group gathering. Thank you, Rick!!! We really enjoyed our stay!!

25 ft travel trailer

2 nights at Cliff Mine Heights

The driveway is steep but thoroughly negotiable. At the top, is a large area where we were able easily to back our 25' travel trailer into the designated spot, and we were able to leave without backing and filling. HOWEVER, after we set up our trailer, it rolled back off the blocks the jack was on! It was only caught by the wheel chock behind one of the rear wheels! Had it kept going, it would have rolled down the hill in front of the house and onto the road below. BE SURE TO CHOCK YOUR WHEELS FIRST THING! The angle is NOT steep, but it was enough for this incident. Also, Cliff Mine Road seems to have a split personality: a mile from Ian's place is an intersection. Three roads come into that intersection. Each of the three are named Cliff Mine Road. Ian lives on Cliff Mine / Enlow Road! Be sure to include the Enlow in your GPS navigation tool! This all sounds serious. One does need to be aware of these two matters. But Ian and Kaitlin are wonderful, and the spot is very nice. Electricity only -- no water or sewer, but for one or two nights (we stayed two), it was excellent.
