This location features our two modern-farmhouse tiny homes, two renovated vintage airstreams, a stargazing glamping dome, and two glamping tents!

Hawkwood Farm

Hawkwood Farm is a historic property in the Catoctin Mountains. The house dates back to 1803. At that time, it is documented that there was a blacksmith shop on the property. There is a functioning blacksmith shop today, as well as an expansive wood working shop. A ;band of rhyolite runs through the property that was used by Native Americans for spear points dating back to the paleolithic period. Presently, we strive to live as sustainably and as closely to nature as possible, being good stewards of the land that we are blessed to call home. If you are looking for lots of open space with a sensational view of the sky then this is the place for you! This site is great for viewing all kinds of celestial events. You will also have access to the rest of what Hawkwood Farm offers including forest trails and an array of wildlife. Pitch a tent, or sleep literally under the stars. ;We are abiding by social distancing procedures, so our contact will be limited at this time. You may be visited by our good natured Labrador Sawdust and our sweet Great Pyrenees Ivory. We are asking that people take their trash with them.

It has been our dream for quite some time to have a place where we could "get away from it all" and relax. The Forest House has the best of both worlds—all the amenities of nature along with all the best from home.

From its stone fireplace to its granite counter tops, this log home has many of the luxuries one would expect to find in a fine hotel.

We supply the linens, soaps, shampoos and so forth.

This is a "just bring your toothbrush" kind of place.

Full access to the home. Once you book, I will send you a key code which opens up the lock box adjacent to the front door. It is an "honor system" check-in/check-out. Note: be sure to re-enter the lock box code in order to close the box.

We have our egg laying chickens roaming the property.  Campers can buy eggs from the farm for cooking up your breakfast.  

Eaters Acres

We are a small vegetable, fruit and herb farm that has just been getting started over the past few years after relocating from farming in California.
 Our property is an old farm that historically was primarily used for pasture.
 We have several vegetable gardens, a berry patch and two small fruit orchards and a forest that campers are welcome to explore.
 
 There are about two acres of pasture, but no animals currently grazing, only the chickens that may or may not be within a fenced in area depending on the day and season.
 We are currently selling produce from our gardens and eggs from our free roaming chickens along with our kitchen products produced on farm in our licensed farm kitchen.

Pitch your tent near the creek in our forest or hilltop with a view of surrounding farms or in a pasture where you will wake with the morning sun. 
 We have various locations perfect for setting up your space for the night.  We do often have two bookings a night on the weekends, it is a first come first pick option for the sites.  However, with larger groups we may require to set up in the forest site near the creek or near the farm building might be another option for those who do not want to walk.   We are a small diverse vegetable, herb and fruit farm so we welcome campers anywhere as long as they respect the boundries of the gardens and the orchards.  All sites may require walking a little from your car, but some cars are able to get a little closer to the sites(depending on the car & the weather).  We also have a small flock of egg laying hens that roams the property along with nine friendly barn cats and a friendly(but big) farm dog that you may see around the farm.  There are countless species of birds that can be seen around as well as colorful butterflies, moths and dragon flies regularly flying about.  Campers have access to a rustic bathroom(no hot water unless you boil it) and a partial kitchen as well as a charcoal grill, community fire pit and a picnic table.  If you would like to cook onsite we have minimal amount of cookware available to use and you can buy from the farm whatever seasonal produce and/or eggs you might need.   Our farm is down the road from wineries, breweries, a tea room and various other Frederick county attractions.  There are numerous historic sites within a short drive such as Harpers Ferry and Civil War battlefields, including Gettysburg and Antietam.  We are a 15 minute drive to historic downtown Frederick, 10 minutes from the center of historic New Market while being about an hour from downtown D.C. and 45 minutes to Baltimore.  Our central location is great for site seeing around the area during the day, then you can spend the evenings relaxing around the farm. 
* For small RVs we can accomodate you in some space near the farm buildings.  
 **The hilltop has some flat areas, but there is also a good slope depending on where you set up, so it is really best for campers with only one tent.  This is next to a newly planted orchard, so there is also the option of some flat areas around the little fruit trees.  Some cars are able to drive up the hill to park on the hiltop, depends on your car, but we are very strict about no driiving in the orchard.  
***Plenty of space for larger groups as well in the grove site in our forest, near the creek.  If your group has more than 4 adults we may require that you use this space as it is most appropriate for larger groups.
 Some cars are able to drive up the hill to get a little closer, but be prepared to walk up from the parking space near the barns which takes 3-5 minutes or a two minute walk from the hilltop.

Our trailer is where we have our bathroom and partial kitchen.  The fire pit is on the left of the trailer and behind it is our yoga hill which has great views of the surrounding farms.  

The driveway of the farm where campers can park their vehicles in back.  There are fields around and the forest in back for camping.

Victorian Summer Kitchen Curiosity, circa 1890, is located on small, organic Cloud Nine Farm among the beautiful Orchard, Dairy and Mennonite country of Western Maryland. 

Glorious sunrises over the Catoctin Mts and a great 360 vista of the surrounding Farmlands and Orchards. Close to the Appalachian trail and several State Parks, great biking . Awesome area. Fresh local produce available either on our Farm or at innumerable Orchard stands throughout the year. This includes milk and ice cream  :) , Apples, Peaches, Plums, Cherries, Strawberries, and all types of veggies and meats.

The summer kitchen and its loft are outfitted as they would have been in the Victorian times, with implements for cooking, canning, candle making, herb and plant processing, braided rug making. etc.  Object being to perk your curiosity and to reflect on another time in history, when practically every farm and homestead were self sufficient.

Also, part of the stable is set up as a eating area, and the barn and hayloft as a hands on Farm museum to explore. Old fashioned games and rope swings and Arts and Crafts for additional fun. 

Built in 1890, In the Victorian period, Cloud NIne still cherishes and honors the lifestyle and hard work of those who built and farmed her.

Willet Family Farm

Named “Favorite Hipcamp Site in the State of Maryland" by OUTSIDE MAGAZINE in 2020!

The tallest structure on our farm is the windmill, constructed in 1874, and it quickly became the logo for our farm because a windmill is something that harnesses power for a specific purpose. For many generations, the windmill harnessed the power of the wind to grind grain or pump water, but now in the 21st century, Willet Family Farm hopes to harness the power of the outdoors to benefit every guest that comes to visit.

The Willet Farm survived many hardships including The Great Depression, the 1999 tornado that destroyed the barn, and cancer that claimed the life of family members too early. In 2006, The farm had to be sold outside of the family, but in an effort to honor past generations and preserve the heritage of what the farm stood for (faith, family and hard work), Jeremy and Kathleen Willet purchased the farm back in 2017. The 13 acre farm is perfectly located in the middle of over 200 acres of farmland owned by parents and cousins.

Since that time, we have welcomed over 200 guests from 10 different states and 2 different countries! We raise free-range chickens, board horses and are a Renewable Energy Farm completely powered by the sun through a comprehensive solar design on our barn.
