Flannel Dog Farm

3 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents7 acres · Ashtabula, OH
Located less than a mile from Lake Erie, our 1860's brick farmhouse is an area icon. This seven acre homestead is where we grow our own food, raise sheep, chickens and bees, bake sourdough bread, brew beer and wine, and create art in Copper Leaf Studios. We are a monarch waystation and have several acres dedicated to native pollinators, plants, and trees. Much like our farm's name, our place is warm, welcoming, rustic, and a bit gritty. We are advocates of inclusion, local community, and sustainable living. We love telling and hearing good stories. We believe in the powers of kindness and peace. We hope to share our part of the world with others. We have firewood onsite for HipCamper use. Our breakfast is not to be missed (included for Peace Portal & Covered Wagon sites; optional for tent campers) and features farm fresh & local ingredients. We offer an outhouse with a composting toilet as well as a traditional flushable half bath with running water and power. Pets are welcome. Message us if you have any questions!

Camping in Wine Country

4 sites · RVs, Tents195 acres · Geneva, OH
Purchased by my grandfather back in 1953 it has been a diverse fruit farm for many years.  Currently we have almost 200 acres, a lot of it woods.  We don't currently grow the crops that we did but we have planted some wine grapes in the last several years.  As we also have a winery, The Winery at Spring Hill, we wanted to get some of our own grapes in the ground.  We have several places for tent camping and we have a large parking lot at the winery for RV parking.Learn more about this land:Right in the middle of Ohio's Wine Country!  Enjoy an evening at our winery or take the day and explore the 26 wineries in the area.Woods and fields surround the camping area.  Close to the natural beauty of the Grand River (State Wild and Scenic River). Just a few miles from Geneva State Park and Geneva-on-the-Lake. Lots of activities: wine tasting, covered bridges, boating/canoeing/kayaking, fishing, swimming, biking, hiking, birding, nightlife, history, golfing, and lots of natural beauty.

It's pretty dark here. There are no large cities anywhere around here. My family moved here in 1957 and I purchased it from my father in 1975. My wife is responsible for much of the landscaping and home improvements that have been done since 1990. We are retired self-employed .

Too Far Out Farm

1 site · RV, Tent3 acres · Guys Mills, PA
Nestled in Pennsylvania Dutch country, between a large dairy farm and the Erie National Wildlife Refuge, Too Far Out Farm is favored for its natural beauty and tranquility. Residents of TFO Farm include horses, sheep, and various other friendlies of the canine and feline varieties. You could set your watch by the neighbors' evening visits: A herd of very social dairy cows, who always seem to mosey on down right around supper time every evening. The primitive campsite will accommodate tents or a small RV. Don't worry about nosey or annoying camp neighbors, because we only book one group at a time - YOURS! The campsite includes a large fire ring, a limited amount of cut and stacked wood, a composting toilet and a small camp table. There is room for a smaller rig if you want to bring your RV, riding horse or ATV. We can accommodate up to six horses in our outdoor round pen as long as they get along with one another. (Sorry, no sheltered stalls or run-in sheds for the horses, as yet.) Trail riding on the back roads of Penn's woods delights many a visitor all four seasons of the year. The farm is within walking distance of hiking and cross-country ski trails that meander through the Erie National Wildlife Refuge. Also, Crawford County's best kept secret for Perch, Walleye and Blue Gill fishing (including ice fishing) is a mile away at Sugar Lake. If you come for the hunting, (in season) let us know in advance and we will help you secure the proper permits and learn the rules of the refuge. Speaking of the wildlife, come armed with your binoculars and a good camera. Common sightings include high and low-flying Bald Eagles and other birds of prey, as well as many varieties of colorful, native song birds. You may also encounter other woodland creatures, such as, White-Tail Deer, Black Bears, Coyotes, and of course, smaller furry critters, like raccoons, fox, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, beavers, ground hogs and opossum. Be sure to steer clear of the skunks and the porcupines, though! Upon request, farm stewards, Deb and/or Mike Peterson will ride along to guide you on a horseback trail ride on the public back roads (minimal vehicular traffic) surrounding TFO Farm and on the refuge. We can't wait to share this little slice of heaven on earth with you at Too Far Out Farm!
