Our little farm is also home to a small flock of sheep, 3 alpaca, a llama, and a gaggle of chickens. The RV pad pictured is currently rented. Available to rent is our primitive upper meadow to campers and vans. There are no hookups or toilet onsite so we require campers to have their own self enclosed bathroom. We are blocking off the listing for the remainder of the season as the land is charred and unsuitable for camping. We hope to fix up the land to open again next spring. In the meantime, we so appreciate everyone's support and well wishes!!! **** We are new stewards and first-time homeowners of this serene, 10.5 acre homestead. 'Modern' human development on this land first began in old logging days in the early 1900s and old logging access road still runs through the center of our property. When we purchased this land in 2020, we knew we were investing in a real 'fixer-upper'. The original Buckminster Fuller geodome home was built back in the 1970s, and the outbuildings and garden spaces were later added on as the property changed hands over the decades. By the time we landed here, however, the home was in severe state of neglect. As we continue to care for and restore this home and land, we aim to use environmentally sustainable practices to minimize our impact on the land while upcycling, recycling, and re-using anything we can in the process! Weekend Trip to The Forest Cupcake

Irene's place is pure magic. I've stayed at some pretty unique and amazing Hip Camps, but this was most definitely in the top two. The yurt itself is so comfortable and cozy; nothing like what you would get at a state park. The wood stove kept us warm all night, and the bed/sheets/pillows were heavenly. We unfortunately had an overcast night, so we didn't get to enjoy the stars (although I have no doubt that this would be a phenomenal stargazing location), but we did get to fall asleep to the sounds of owls all around us. Irene has put so many little touches into her property/yurt that make it feel like you are in another land, yet you're so close to the adorable city of Hood River, or The Dalles for bigger box stores. Please be sure to walk up the hill to find the bench by the tree. The views are spectacular! Thank you Irene, for everything. I hope to come back in every season. :)

Great little private spot! Stayed a couple of nights, had everything one would need. There is a composting toilet and portable water we didn’t use since we were in our RV. We were able to pick where we wanted to hike with lots of options out there.

The yurt was large and private, and had great mood lighting. We were able to warm the yurt up quickly with the wood stove and it kept us warm through the night. The bed was very comfortable. Irene was quick responding back to me. We had a wonderful stay for my husbands birthday!

1 night at Red Cloud Ranch

My wife and I only stayed one night in the “glamping pod with gorgeous views at Red Cloud Ranch” and the description and pictures are exactly as described on their Hipcamp listing. It was very cozy with a small heater and all the bedding you need. Shannon provided great directions and met us when we arrived, she was super nice and helpful. The drive to the property is pretty magical on a clear day with easterly views of Mt. Hood and cute black cows dotting the sides of their road. It wasn’t a problem for us but worth noting that there is 3-4 mile gravel and dirt road leading up to the property. Also, at the time of this review, there was no shower which we were aware of. If we were staying more than one night glamping, a shower would be a great addition. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay would definitely come back if we were in the area again!

A wonderful stay at the Cupcake Yurt. Irene and Bill’s land is beautiful and peaceful. Plenty of wildlife to enjoy it with including a Great Horned Owl and a pack of coyotes. We enjoyed the little town of Lyle and even ran into Bill at the Confluence Cafe while sipping coffee and watching Bald Eagles on the Columbia. Having the convenience of a compost toilet, a small sink and well water with the peace of being off grid was the perfect way to disconnect for the weekend.

Tony was a fantastic host, with a lovely and peaceful site. Communication in advance of arrival was prompt and courteous, and he and his wife were on hand when I arrived, cheerfully greeted me, and helped me to get situated on the RV pad. There are two sites— both of them are easily accessible back-in placements—and the positioning is very private from their residence. As someone who has camped up and down most of the Hwy 14 sites, I highly recommend their location, as you won’t be hearing the the train, and access to all the area has to offer is a quick and beautiful drive down into the valley.

I needed a last minute escape from the city and took a chance–this was my first experience using Hipcamp! I brought my dogs, Lewis and Luna, on a fall day with very mixed weather. Irene met us and was SO lovely and informative. We felt so welcome. They set up a fire in the wood stove ahead of our arrival, 🥹 so the yurt was warm and cozy when we opened the doors. It had everything we needed and a lot more! I was so moved by the rolling grasslands and the oak and pine woodlands we explored. We didn't mind the weather and can't wait to come back as a family! 👩‍❤️‍👨 🐶 🐶 Next time, we'll [remember to] bring the dogs 50-foot leashes to give them a bit more freedom to explore during our hikes. For what its worth, we completely agree with the leash policy. Our dogs get around, but they live in a city. They both have high prey drives 🐇🐿️ and would not do well with an off-leash wildlife encounter. 🦌🐓🫣 We also understand there are kids nearby and Luna is afraid of small, unpredictable humans. 🤦 We're working on it. 😅 They did meet our old 'host dog' briefly! All were respectful and curious. 🐾 We hope they feel welcome to stop by again next time we're around! Final note: I'm glad we brought extra towels. We came during tick season–something the house manual mentions. There were plenty but it wasn't a big problem. The dogs get a monthly flea and tick treatment and we just picked them off. Thank you so much for hosting us Irene & Bill! 🙏✨

This was our second stay and it was even better than our first. The location is so peaceful and if you’re looking for rest and rejuvenation, this is it. The view from the hill is spectacular. Our kids loved the trail and staying toasty in the yurt with the wood stove. Absolutely plan to return again!

This spot was cozy, affordable and had everything we needed for a sweet night in the trees. The hosts were thoughtful in setting up the space and left extra bedding and notes to help us navigate the space. The yurt is right off a main road and next to other houses which made us feel extra comfortable and safe. We appreciated the opportunity to stay in this beautiful little spot.
