Our 160-acre property is surrounded by about a million acres of National Forest. Our neighborhood is all made of trees, huckleberry bushes and animals. We love it here. It is very remote, peaceful, and functionally sustainable in its focus. The closest neighbor is a Buddhist Hermitage about a mile up the forestry road. Also, supposedly, Sasquatch live here! (it is the epicenter for documented sightings).
Most visitors to the area are interested in spending time in the redwoods – we are about 30-45 minutes from the nearest entrance to Jedediah Smith Park, home of Stout Grove and other beautiful redwood hikes. Driving into Crescent City, about 45-60 minutes, winds you right through the "gentle giants" on your way to or from Redwood National Park.
We are self-sufficient, and sustainable in a relatively primitive set-up, especially after the fire this year. It's mountainous and remote, and we have a community agreement about no smoking (of any kind) on our land.

This park gets its rather self-descriptive name from the six beautiful rivers that flow through its borders, but don’t the name fool you. There is a lot more than just rivers to check out here. More than a million rambling acres of forest take you through foggy and mystical redwood landscapes. Further inland, miles of towering Douglas firs, glacial peaks, and hidden pools just wait to be discovered. Of course, the rivers are the main attraction. You can’t go two feet without tripping over a perfect swimming hole. After your dip, there are plenty of warm rocks to lay out on. Oh, and if the natural beauty doesn’t get you: this was the place where they first spotted Bigfoot. Yeah, the original footage that basically made everyone believe in the hairy bi-ped. 4 nights at Azalea River
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Jacob's Riverside Gem! It's rustic enough to feel adventurous and homey enough to feel warm and comfy in the winter. It's obvious that Jacob has put a lot of heart and soul into this little cabin because of all the artistic touches you will find throughout. The firewood was well stocked, the property was beautiful with many fresh fungi to observe, and the little kitchen was perfect for making delicious meals. The fridge is quite small with no freezer, so if you want to bring fresh food for cooking, I recommend bringing a cooler. The shower is not far from the cabin, so it's easy to get a hot shower in and run back inside to the warm cabin. Make sure to bring your own bath towel. The bathroom is farther from the cabin, but I enjoyed the walk there, especially at night when I could look at the stars.
We didn't get to enjoy the outdoor space very much, seeing as we visited in winter, but we definitely want to come back in the summer to enjoy all that this little cabin and the Smith River area has to offer. If you're looking for a quaint place to stay while adventuring in the area, you've found the right place!

Go straight at the barn! (Don't go left!) Lovely pastoral land, mellow sheep, we could hear the rolling surf, the site was level and private--even though one other site was visible, adirondack chairs and wooden picnic table with benches were a bonus, and the fire pit was great! Nick is a patient, attendant host. I highly recommend this farm!

1 night at Azalea River
Jacob has really put in a labor of love on this land to help his guests, rest, reset and connect. Being able to take a shower outside and hike down and wade the waters of the river was unbelievable. It rained most of the time I was there so I didn't get to take advantage of the river much but the cabin was a cozy safe haven to cook dinner and brew my morning coffee in. I loved that I could camp there and then drive 25minutes and be hiking in the Jedidiah Smith Redwoods area. Close enough off the 101 you can really use it as a stop like I did however I can see how staying longer would mean even more glory along the river.
The cons are I found some metal scraps and screws on the ground walking around; just beware if you have kiddos. The hike down is well designed but it's definitely moderate and can be slippery. The ladder up the bed is not for the faint of heart!

What i noticed first was the beautiful tree-lined drive in to the property. Gorgeous farm with lots of privacy between camps. Pleasantly surprised with the adirondack-type chairs around the fire pit. Beautiful picnic tables and flat areas for tents, etc. Loved the big dog mascot as well!

Great stay at this sheep farm. Easy to find, chill experience overall. The farm dog is super sweet. Sites are far enough apart it's private, quiet and dark. Had a good sleep here and would stay again. Fire pit & wood was provided(when bought) along with picnic bench.

Beautiful property and the perfect location for our relaxing anniversary getaway! Nick was a great host (and so was Bella... the very sweet dog who hung out with me while I relaxed in my hammock). Our site had shade, a picnic table, fire pit, and also had power. My wife and I had a fantastic 3-night stay.

Can I just say wow!
Dew Valley Ranch is one of the best glamping experiences I've ever had. The yurt, the bed and heating blanket. Shower towels, hot tub towels, and a thing to warm water, a fire pit and a super cutely decorated out door seating and eating area. We had a shower at our site with its own water heater, and a private bathroom. We had access to a hot tub, a sauna, and so many hikes. They have super cute goats, chickens, and a horse on the property that love people. I would highly recommend this ranch. And can't wait to stay again!!

Dreamy secluded spot on a stunning river edge. Simple unique cabin with everything you need to relax and unwind. We spent the entirety of our stay floating in the gorgeous Smith river and didn’t see one other person. Easy to get to but very hard to leave. It really was perfect. Thank you for having us and we hope to be back! Highly recommend.

We had a great experience camping here. It’s a beautiful location that is quiet, clean, spacious and relaxing. The owner is very easy to communicate with and responsive. It’s nice to have a firepit with picnic tables and Adirondack chairs to sit and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. The sheep are an added bonus to go and visit. It’s close enough to Bandon to be convenient but far enough away to still feel isolated. I would highly recommend camping here and we definitely plan to return.

Wow! This place hit the mark for us in so many ways. This was our first family trip, camping with a 7 month old (inadvisable), so having beautiful, serene wide open meadows really was amazing, and our dogs were over the moon! Elise and Kevin stopped by to welcome us and were ready to answer any questions we had. What a beautiful piece of property! We will absolutely be back. I want to tell everybody, but I also want to keep it our own little secret. thank you!
