Waterfall Sanctuary is a hidden gem on 17 acres, bordered on two sides by the Gifford Pinchot N F. In the heart of the Columbia River Gorge just outside Carson, Washington, it is home to a mini-farm with goats, ducks, & chickens. Deer & elk walk through the property on a fairly regular basis depending on the season, it's less than a mile walk (or short drive) to the Wind River & a swimming hole, & a short distance further is the Pacific Crest Trail.
A 20-minute drive & you're at the Columbia River. An hour to the West is Portland if you are in the mood for some city life, & 35 minutes east is Hood River, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is home to shops, local restaurants, & access to the Columbia River.
Also in close proximity are amazing waterfalls, trails, & National Forest roads that are close by & well maintained. No matter the season there is something to do a short distance from the property.
Keep in mind that the property is very rugged except for the trails we have provided to access other parts of the property. We are as off grid & sustainable as possible- while no electricity or running water is available at the individual sites, we provide battery or solar operated lighting, & a container of water for each site.

Largely constructed from materials lovingly and gently harvested on-site, the Yurt at Rivendell is a sanctuary of peace and serenity. A place for rejuvenation and inspiration.
The yurt began as a rustic structure utilizing lumber from trees selectively harvested to protect the health of the forest.
But, the more Roy worked on the Yurt the more it spoke to him letting him know how to proceed and what it should become -- resulting in this phenomenally peaceful and stress-free wilderness sanctuary where the
sun, the moon and the stars wink at you through the gentle undulations of the 100-year-old Douglas Firs Trees or through the ambient ether of the adjoining meadows.
Our property is located 1hr and 30 minutes from Mt Hood in Oregon.
We are located in White Salmon, Washington. There are enough things to do in White Salmon, including hiking trails, biking trails, white water rafting, waterfalls, and paddling spots to keep you entertained for a weekend, week, or lifetime!
NOTE: While we do accept Instant Bookings for both our Tree House and Yurt there may very rarely be a conflict with a booking received earlier from another site when the HipCamp calendar has not been updated to reflect that booking. This property was once part of a 200 acre cattle ranch turned into a Christian community. The families shared meals, home-schooled their children and had a home-based church. They raised their own food in a 3 acre garden and orchard along with chickens and cows for milk, meet and eggs. Two of the original families still own
some of the acres although the community was dissolved and much of the property sold to other people.

We love sharing our beautiful land with those that love nature. The sunsets, the peace and the birdsong are the best. Pets are welcome and you can walk through the forest with them on dirt pathways or keep them in your campsite. Please keep pets out of our area, as our dog is very protective and has been known to have scuffles with other animals approaching. Grassy areas are available to set up tents or have picnics. There are firepits for when the burn ban is not on (a wheelbarrow full of wood for $5). The campsites are large and spaced quite far from each other. Please stay on gravel roadways with all motor vehicles.
There are two outhouses for tents campers. There is one non-potable water spigot by the log outhouse. There is no electricity on the property. For your own safety and peace of mind, please keep all food in bear safe containers or locked in your cars. If you forget anything, the Washougal River Mercantile is two miles away where you can buy gas and groceries.
Local hiking trails on the Columbia Gorge: Cape Horn Trail just 3 miles from our property and Beacon Rock/Hamilton Mountain trail is a 15 minute drive.
We can give you directions to our favorite swimming hole for cooling down on hot summer days in the Washougal river. (Discovery Pass required at the river) parking spot. Buy those at the Mercantile as well)

Our camp is right off the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Highway just minutes away from Portland Women's Forum and Crown Point, the Jewel of the Columbia.
Our facilities include an outdoor shower, a solar-powered composting toilet, fresh water, fire pits, and plenty of flat ground surrounded by trees for excellent camping!

Note: The use of the sauna, hot tub, and composting toilet are only for Glamp bookings! The campsites and tipi use the port-a-potty and have the use of an on-demand outdoor shower, which is free of charge.
Our home and farm is on two acres. Your tent site, is all in our ample acreage.
Although pets are welcome, we expect them to be well-behaved around our two cats, our own big sweetie of a pup, Frejya, our two crazy goats Cupcake and Muffin, and our free-ranging chickens. Expect to hear some animal noises here on the farm.
Our property literally borders the scenic highway. Because we are so close, you can hear the sunset-view-seeking drivers, motorcycle riders, and yes, racers who come out this way for a spin on one of the most scenic highways in the world. Traffic quiets down after dark and mornings are quite 'chill'.

While unlisted, an adjacent site "Hideout in the Hollow", can often be made available also per request.
Solar heated, unfiltered spring water is available at the site itself & spigots for cold spring water are available at the corral &farmstand. While our family finds this spring water safe & refreshing to drink from tap, keep in mind, it is UNfiltered thus classified as non-potable water that needs to be purified before drinking.
This site offers a unique experience where you can take a closer look at farm life by encountering cows, pigs & free-range chickens. Feed them apples when available or even your left over food scraps! Don't forget to meet Petunia, our beloved free-range Kunekune pig. While shy at 1st, her affinity for snacks & belly rubs makes her favor easily earned.
Beyond the farm, you'll find yourself perfectly situated just 1.5 miles east of Catherine Creek Rec. Area. This prime location caters to a wide range of interests, from hiking &mountain biking to hunting & rock climbing at Coyote Wall. Welcome to our new home! Kyle and I live in the main house on 5 sprawling acres of pasture and shady pines. The property is peaceful, the skies are full of stars, and wildlife visits often.
Our little farm is also home to a small flock of sheep, 3 alpaca, a llama, and a gaggle of chickens.
The RV pad pictured is currently rented. Available to rent is our primitive upper meadow to campers and vans. There are no hookups or toilet onsite so we require campers to have their own self enclosed bathroom. Campers are welcome to fill up water, charge devices or use WiFi by the house (there is limited to no cell service at our property).
There is a county wide campfire ban through September at least which only allows for use of barbecues (no campfires even if enclosed in something like a solo stove).
We’re a 15 minute drive from White Salmon up Snowden, about a mile away from hiking and biking trails (not on trail maps) and a 5 minute drive to an upper entrance to coyote wall hiking/biking trails.
Make this your home base for an evening, weekend or longer for a night under the stars, or your biking, kite boarding, or other outdoor adventures! And, if you or your family is interested in meeting some of our farm animals I’d be happy to introduce you!

We have 50+ Llamas, including adorable babies on our 50 acre Ranch, camp in the pasture, which is flat or in our woods, for more privacy, your choice. There is an added fee for going on a farm tour and/or leading your own Llama on a guided short half hour hike through our woods. Llamas are very curious animals and love visitors! Easy access to the great PNW wilderness! We are centrally located in the White Salmon River valley of the Columbia River Gorge. Our RV spot is 20 minutes to Trout Lake/Mt Adams/Gifford-Pinchot Natl Forest to the north and White Salmon/Hood River/Mt Hood to the south. Only a couple minutes from the Husum and BZ white water rafting and kayaking launch sites.
This semi-shaded RV spot is located on our farm with both 50amp and standard 120v electrical hookups. Access to a hose for non-potable water. Local mobile sanitation service available on Thursdays for emptying the gray and black water tanks (around $60 payable to Bishop Sanitation). There is a local gas station with sundries, gas, diesel, propane, and camping essentials 5 minutes up the road.
Parking is one way in and you’ll be backing out the same way; non-paved access requires AWD or 4WD vehicle.
We do not allow open fire including campfires and charcoal BBQs. Propane bbq and fire pits are allowed (must have on/off switch). Picnic table located onsite.
No smoking.
Quiet Hours: 8pm-8am (no elevated voices or music)
Please note that this a working farm; farm operations take place throughout the summer at various hours (including quiet hours)
Due to various wildlife and farm animals located on the property, all pets must be on a leash AT ALL TIMES and are not allowed further than 20’ from the RV spot. Pets shall not be left unaccompanied.

Waterfall Sanctuary is a hidden gem on 17 acres, bordered on two sides by the Gifford Pinchot N F. In the heart of the Columbia River Gorge just outside Carson, Washington, it is home to a mini-farm with goats, ducks, & chickens. Deer & elk walk through the property on a fairly regular basis depending on the season, it's less than a mile walk (or short drive) to the Wind River & a swimming hole, & a short distance further is the Pacific Crest Trail.
A 20-minute drive & you're at the Columbia River. An hour to the West is Portland if you are in the mood for some city life, & 35 minutes east is Hood River, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is home to shops, local restaurants, & access to the Columbia River.
Also in close proximity are amazing waterfalls, trails, & National Forest roads that are close by & well maintained. No matter the season there is something to do a short distance from the property.
Keep in mind that the property is very rugged except for the trails we have provided to access other parts of the property. We are as off grid & sustainable as possible- while no electricity or running water is available at the individual sites, we provide battery or solar operated lighting, & a container of water for each site.

We love sharing our beautiful land with those that love nature. The sunsets, the peace and the birdsong are the best. Pets are welcome and you can walk through the forest with them on dirt pathways or keep them in your campsite. Please keep pets out of our area, as our dog is very protective and has been known to have scuffles with other animals approaching. Grassy areas are available to set up tents or have picnics. There are firepits for when the burn ban is not on (a wheelbarrow full of wood for $5). The campsites are large and spaced quite far from each other. Please stay on gravel roadways with all motor vehicles.
There are two outhouses for tents campers. There is one non-potable water spigot by the log outhouse. There is no electricity on the property. For your own safety and peace of mind, please keep all food in bear safe containers or locked in your cars. If you forget anything, the Washougal River Mercantile is two miles away where you can buy gas and groceries.
Local hiking trails on the Columbia Gorge: Cape Horn Trail just 3 miles from our property and Beacon Rock/Hamilton Mountain trail is a 15 minute drive.
We can give you directions to our favorite swimming hole for cooling down on hot summer days in the Washougal river. (Discovery Pass required at the river) parking spot. Buy those at the Mercantile as well)

Although pets are welcome, we expect them to be well-behaved around our two cats, our own big sweetie of a pup, Frejya, our two crazy goats Cupcake and Muffin, and our free-ranging chickens. Expect to hear some animal noises here on the farm.
Our property literally borders the scenic highway. Because we are so close, you can hear the sunset-view-seeking drivers, motorcycle riders, and yes, racers who come out this way for a spin on one of the most scenic highways in the world. Traffic quiets down after dark and mornings are quite 'chill'.

While our family finds this spring water safe & refreshing to drink from tap, keep in mind, it is UNfiltered thus classified as non-potable water that needs to be purified before drinking.
This site offers a unique experience where you can take a closer look at farm life by encountering cows, pigs & free-range chickens. Feed them apples when available or even your left over food scraps! Don't forget to meet Petunia, our beloved free-range Kunekune pig. While shy at 1st, her affinity for snacks & belly rubs makes her favor easily earned.
Beyond the farm, you'll find yourself perfectly situated just 1.5 miles east of Catherine Creek Rec. Area. Welcome to our new home! Kyle and I live in the main house on 5 sprawling acres of pasture and shady pines. The property is peaceful, the skies are full of stars, and wildlife visits often.
Our little farm is also home to a small flock of sheep, 3 alpaca, a llama, and a gaggle of chickens.
The RV pad pictured is currently rented. Available to rent is our primitive upper meadow to campers and vans. There are no hookups or toilet onsite so we require campers to have their own self enclosed bathroom. Campers are welcome to fill up water, charge devices or use WiFi by the house (there is limited to no cell service at our property).
There is a county wide campfire ban through September at least which only allows for use of barbecues (no campfires even if enclosed in something like a solo stove).
We’re a 15 minute drive from White Salmon up Snowden, about a mile away from hiking and biking trails (not on trail maps) and a 5 minute drive to an upper entrance to coyote wall hiking/biking trails.

Easy access to the great PNW wilderness! We are centrally located in the White Salmon River valley of the Columbia River Gorge. Our RV spot is 20 minutes to Trout Lake/Mt Adams/Gifford-Pinchot Natl Forest to the north and White Salmon/Hood River/Mt Hood to the south. Only a couple minutes from the Husum and BZ white water rafting and kayaking launch sites.
This semi-shaded RV spot is located on our farm with both 50amp and standard 120v electrical hookups. Access to a hose for non-potable water. Local mobile sanitation service available on Thursdays for emptying the gray and black water tanks (around $60 payable to Bishop Sanitation). There is a local gas station with sundries, gas, diesel, propane, and camping essentials 5 minutes up the road.
Parking is one way in and you’ll be backing out the same way; non-paved access requires AWD or 4WD vehicle.
We do not allow open fire including campfires and charcoal BBQs. Propane bbq and fire pits are allowed (must have on/off switch). Picnic table located onsite.

So glad we got to stay here - it was actually a perfect fall spot! The land is really beautiful and very well taken care of. The spots are really nice with firepits (when open), and picnic tables and space. You can definitely see the other camping spots, but I was really impressed with how much space is generally all around the land. The walking trail is gorgeous. The pit toilet was well kept and clean, and the hosts were super kind!

Beautiful property with a nice mix of woods and clearings. Very quiet (you can hear road traffic occasionally, but it wasn't a big deal). There was one other camper on the property and I only saw them as they were leaving.
There are lots of primitive trails to explore and looks like there's a frisbee golf course in the works. The private porta-potty was clean and it was nice to have a well-water spigot nearby. The only minor quibble was there seemed to be some trash in the camp sites. I picked up around my site and added a few other bits from the neighboring site. Wasn't terrible, but it was noticeable. Remember to pick up after yourselves.
The burn ban was still in effect, so unfortunately no fires on this trip. Maybe next time. I'll plan on coming back later in the fall or early Spring.
Overall, it was a great weekend, and I do recommend it!

This is a great spot to camp at. We brought our little trailer and pulled up right to the platform area that was generous and size with a nice picnic table.. we had plenty of room in our campsite and the stargazing was amazing. It’s only 15 minutes outside of white salmon, making it a perfect home-base for activities that we wanted to do in the area. The host was super communicative and easy to deal with..

We tent camped on one of the RV sites (Potbelly 2) so we could drive up, and we had a fantastic time. Our 3-yr old twins LOVED getting to meet and feed the farm animals, and the people who live on site were very friendly and welcoming. The outdoor bathroom was the cleanest I’ve ever experienced and only a few minutes walk from our site. The showers were a nice feature as well!

It is a lovely campsite on the farm with chickens and pigs. The marketstand offering fresh fruits and veggies was a delightful way to supplement breakfast and dinner. There is a friendly neighborhood dog very excited to meet new friends.
Even though the farm is recovering from a fire, you could hardly tell from the camping itself.

Tyla is an awesome host! I booked this very last minute and Tyla was very accommodating and understanding. The site was quiet, lots of natural sounds to fall asleep to. Only think I wished I was aware of beforehand is that the site was all gravel, which made pitching a tent difficult / not the most comfortable (I used a thin backpacking sleeping pad). Outside of that, the facilities were great, the cafe was a nice tough to go grab coffee in the morning, and the hiking trails nearby were great. Would definitely come back with a thicker mattress or to car camp! Thank you Tyla!

Good place to camp, small farm ran by a nice couple that were helpful & friendly. There is an outhouse on the property too. If you have a long trailer, don't go down the hill towards the rear of the property, most likely your trailer will bottom out going across the dry creek bed, so you'll want to stay in the camping spot up by the road. Everything worked out well, and I would definitely stay here again.

It’s very stress free, Amanda is a wonderful host and the place is quite frankly, stunning. I enjoy places of silence and few people, and this has both. This place was quiet and beautiful with the sites nicely spaced. Bugs were minimal. The pit toilets were well maintained with relatively no smell. Follow the hosts directions about staying on Salmon to find the chair. Your GPS will take you down the wrong street. I would stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Creek-side Retreat Handsfull Farm
This was an amazing experience!! Handsfull farm is a beautiful property that is so spacious but somehow feels so cozy and wonderful at there same time. my partner and I were planning some things to do around the area but ended up staying our full two days at the farm because there was so much to do. I felt so so welcome by everyone there. it's really clear that they really care about the guest experience.
The glamping spot by the creek is also super private, it feels like you have your own forest to explore. Pictures cannot do it justice! I can't wait to return!!
