The tiny community of Nemah has only a few scattered farms and homes, my campground, an oyster harvester, and a fish hatchery.

Batwater Station is located halfway between Portland and the Oregon Coast on the Columbia River. A private refuge where river otter, beaver, mink, muskrat, seals, raccoons along with threatened Columbia river white tailed deer can be seen. Property has 1,000 feet of boat docks, river deck, and pier. At the pier is a full kitchen, heated bathroom and shower room. Included are 2 outhouses, a fire pit for summer months, a viewing station overlooking the wetlands along with brick charcoal fired barbecue and another propane barbecue. We are committed to your privacy so guests are limited and spread out. High speed internet through out the property.
Batwater worked with several agencies when we breeched a levee and flooded 26 acres for salmon and wildlife habitat. Hike along the wetlands and see beaver dams and dens. Batwater is also home for many types of birds including eagles, osprey, tree swallow, purple martins, barn swallows, wood ducks, common and hooded mergansers, mallards, scoots, scaups, grebes, cormorants, great egrets, blue herons, geese and many types of song birds . In the spring and summer see our returning osprey who have. nested on our dock since 2013. There are now 2 osprey platform since a pair of Canada geese choose that as their nesting site as well. Some bald eagles winter here but we have our resident bald eagles Hep and Hope. They arrived in 2003 to start their nest on Crims Island. They still nest there although there old nest tree collapsed in 2020. Many birds migrate here for the winter. Common mammals are river otter, mink, muskrat, raccoons, nutria, coyotes, black tailed and threatened Colombia White Tailed deer. We also are home to native turtles and frogs.
Batwater is a working farm with cattle feeding on lush pastures, 2 retired horses and chickens. When eggs are available, we will share some with you.
Batwater is a great place to kayak, canoe, paddle board or row during the summer months. We have windy afternoons for windsurfers or sailors. The Columbia River is well known for salmon, and sturgeon. For an extra fee you can moor your larger boat while visiting. There are a volley ball and badminton set ups along with horse shoes during the summer months. We suggest swimming during the summer months when the tide is coming in or slack. You can also walk or drive down to Mayger beach which is popular with locals. There are sandy beaches on Crims island that you can paddle over too.

There is also a launch in the city park for kayaking. The Zen Monastery is just 5 miles away. Long Beach, WA is across the Columbia River via the Astoria Bridge. Lounging about the homestead works too.

The tidal water of the N. Nemah River allow for kyacking to Willapa Bay or just in River at high tide. Searun cutthroat fishing in summer and King Salmon starting August 1st. Located 25 minutes from Long Beach or Astoria there are fun places for day trips. The tiny community of Nemah has only a few scattered farms and homes, my campground, an oyster harvester, and a fish hatchery.

Relatives' Land is an opportunity for Delphine, who currently owns the property and all of us visiting, to enjoy the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and learn about the amazing bio-diversity of the area. On the land you will find some flat, prairie land that are used for gardening and chicken raising. There is also an old orchard with 15 plus apple and pear trees. Campers are welcome to harvest apples and pears in the fall when they are in season! Half of the land, 2.5 acres is a forest of pine and alder trees which hosts incredible wild life: a family of fox, Northwest bats, Northern Pygmy owls, Spotted owls, Northern flickers, Pileated woodpeckers, red ants, deer, elk, rabbits, snakes, mice and million more insects and birds. The land also has an incredible variety of mushrooms, mostly non-edible though, and ferns and mosses.

Batwater Station is located halfway between Portland and the Oregon Coast on the Columbia River. A private refuge where river otter, beaver, mink, muskrat, seals, raccoons along with threatened Columbia river white tailed deer can be seen. Property has 1,000 feet of boat docks, river deck, and pier. At the pier is a full kitchen, heated bathroom and shower room. Included are 2 outhouses, a fire pit for summer months, a viewing station overlooking the wetlands along with brick charcoal fired barbecue and another propane barbecue. We are committed to your privacy so guests are limited and spread out. High speed internet through out the property.
Batwater worked with several agencies when we breeched a levee and flooded 26 acres for salmon and wildlife habitat. Hike along the wetlands and see beaver dams and dens. Batwater is also home for many types of birds including eagles, osprey, tree swallow, purple martins, barn swallows, wood ducks, common and hooded mergansers, mallards, scoots, scaups, grebes, cormorants, great egrets, blue herons, geese and many types of song birds . In the spring and summer see our returning osprey who have. nested on our dock since 2013. There are now 2 osprey platform since a pair of Canada geese choose that as their nesting site as well. Some bald eagles winter here but we have our resident bald eagles Hep and Hope. They arrived in 2003 to start their nest on Crims Island. They still nest there although there old nest tree collapsed in 2020. Many birds migrate here for the winter. Common mammals are river otter, mink, muskrat, raccoons, nutria, coyotes, black tailed and threatened Colombia White Tailed deer. We also are home to native turtles and frogs.
Batwater is a working farm with cattle feeding on lush pastures, 2 retired horses and chickens. When eggs are available, we will share some with you.
Batwater is a great place to kayak, canoe, paddle board or row during the summer months. We have windy afternoons for windsurfers or sailors. The Columbia River is well known for salmon, and sturgeon. For an extra fee you can moor your larger boat while visiting. There are a volley ball and badminton set ups along with horse shoes during the summer months. We suggest swimming during the summer months when the tide is coming in or slack. You can also walk or drive down to Mayger beach which is popular with locals. There are sandy beaches on Crims island that you can paddle over too.

Welcome to Holistic Life Farm!
We are a working homestead and delight in sharing our daily experience and offer visits with our sheep, cows and chickens.
Holistic Life Farm offers a 1 dry tent site for up to 12 people, a quaint hideaway cabin, and a glamped out 16x20 canvas tent with a wood stove. We also offer 1 RV site in our parking area.
Stop on your way to Astoria and the coast and make this your destination. Find us about 30 minutes off I-5 freeway across the Longview bridge or 45 minutes east of Astoria. Our farm sits about 5 miles off Highway 30 to the north.
We can direct you to hiking and mountain biking trails in the area (Beaver Falls trailhead is 5 miles from our farm). There is a motor boat launch in the town of Clatskanie, with access to Columbia River.
There is also a launch in the city park for kayaking. The Zen Monastery is just 5 miles away. Long Beach, WA is across the Columbia River via the Astoria Bridge. Lounging about the homestead works too.

We hope you will come enjoy the refreshing privacy and quiet of camping on our beautiful, small-scale, organic farm. This is a great place to get away from the scattered urgency of modern life. We want you to reconnect with what matters most and get some new inspiration! We are 25 minutes west of I-5, halfway between Seattle and Portland. Pacific Ocean beaches are 1.5 hours away.
Our guests love the near-by swimming hole, shared fire areas, fresh produce and clean outhouses. Meeting the farm animals, napping in the hammocks, mastering the rope swing and wandering the many paths are also memory-makers. Some of our "extras" -- Farm Tours, Propane Firebowls, Saunas, and more -- are available for purchase when you make your booking.
ALL SITES have flat tent spots, a picnic table, hammock, sun, shade, outhouse access and room to park. Sites are 300 feet apart, on average. Wonderful little slice of property! Directions are clear, setup is simple, lodging is as advertised. We loved our stay in the little A frame cabin - clean, cozy, comfortable. We rented a buddy heater to keep warm & it worked great, only needed it for about an hour. Nestled the two beds together to make one large space. Used wagons to help transport goods down to the cabin & were grateful they were available. Host is responsive and kind - swapped some farm goods for some shellfish & gave us good hiking and local event info. Great stay!!

I stayed in the A-frame cabin in the woods and it couldn’t have been more perfect. I needed a retreat to get away by myself and reconnect with nature and this was well beyond what I expected. Kyle took great care of me upon checking in and Sydney offered me a dozen farm fresh eggs that had just been harvested! I left after three days and two nights a brand new person!!! Thanks :-)

We had a wonderful time at Brian's cabin! It was clean and comfortable, and the toilet and hot shower were so appreciated! It is truly like being alone in the woods because it is so quiet. We loved playing Scrabble and listening to John Denver on the CD player. Our dog enjoyed the off leash walk up to the water tanks and back - Brian has a gorgeous property. It was a perfect weekend getaway and we can't wait to come back.

Beautiful farm with very kind hosts. We had a great time unplugging, connecting with the livestock, and enjoying the sunrise and sunset each day. The tent stayed warm so long as someone was up to tend to the wood stove. Would definitely recommend this getaway.

Weekend Trip to Peace on Earth
The cabin was peaceful and private, and we felt truly secluded and unplugged from the digital world. Our reasons for going or to get isolated from technology and the Internet and this cabin was the perfect place to do that. Brian was a warm welcoming host and their book of recommendations for nearby hikes and food were top-notch. Gnat Creek was a beautiful hike.

The yurt was a perfect way to winter camp and stay semi-warm in the process. The sauna was restorative and the showers had somewhat warm water (better than freezing!) Lots of woods/trails to explore. Saw some elk roaming on our last mornigng there. Will definitely be coming back when its warmer!

We stayed at Site 3 at Jackie and Ron’s. The hosts are more than accommodating. We loved the location and clean bathrooms at a well maintained RV park.
There was also WiFi for those that need it, and fire rings if one would like a fire. The campers are quiet and respectful. We will definitely stay here for future clam digging trips.

The little A-frame structure was perfect for my needs and stood up well to some pretty blustery weather on my first day. It takes a minute to locate the structure if you arrive in the dark and rain, as I did, but once I was oriented, all was well. Definitely recommend this instead of a tent if you're coming at a time of year when the weather is a bit unpredictable.
