This 55 acre park is home of a large sandstone that contains 8 markings believed to have been made by Vikings many years ago. The park features a seasonal waterfall, covered picnic areas, playground, amphitheater with seating, community building, scenic views, gift shop and approximately 2 miles of nature trails. Be advised that most tent sites have a tent pad but a few are primitive mountain terrain (rocky). The one RV site is for 16 ft. or less vehicles and smaller teardrop trailers with limited hook-up and no dump station. Restroom and shower facilities are located within the park. Individual campsites DO NOT have onsite toilets. Forest setting while still close to stores in case of forgotten items. Variety of small wildlife in the area. All sites allow campfires UNLESS we are under a county wide burn ban.

Come join us out in our little slice of country paradise, 30 acres of natural prairie and woodlands nestled on the highest peak in the county overlooking the historic Twin Mounds Valley. Not too far from home, but just far enough to feel like an adventure, we are conveniently located 20 minutes outside the quaint college town of Stillwater, Oklahoma. Individual sites are many acres apart designed in such a way that every experience is peaceful and private. We offer maintained camping sites which are easily accessible that come with amenities, in addition to our alternative primitive camping experience for the pros further in the Backwoods. What ever your needs or preference we have a spot for you! We have easy access to two main highways with the nearest Walmart 10 minutes away, not to mention great cell phone coverage for all the main providers at most locations on the property.
A little bit about how we started. Like most of us, we were in desperate need of a place to get away from the bustle and grind of daily life, to slow down, decompress, and destress. This land the universe had waiting for us, gave us just that! It changed our lives and now we are excited to open up this sanctuary to others who share our passion for the great outdoors! Interestingly, each year we find out more about our home, from its Native American prehistory, to its 19th century Civil War conflict, and most recently, a lost article published in the 1940s in the local Oklahoman gazette that enticingly gossips about long lost Buried Treasure!

My dad was the last monolingual Cherokee. His name was Mack Vann, he was a man who loved culture and sharing it with visitors and handed down that passion to me. My hip camper site is named after my daddy, I am still a daddy‘s girl. The land originated before Sequoyah. who created the Cherokee syllabary. Sequoyah was my fifth generation great grandfather and I am very proud of my Cherokee heritage, I would love to share my culture, my tradition, and my passion with you.

A place carved out of history dating back over 200 years ago. This is where history welcomes you to the Cherokee culture. This land has been handed down for generations and has stayed in the family beginning on my mother’s side of the family, Mary Ann Groundhog, the fourth generation great granddaughter of Sequoyah on the “Dick” side of my family tree. My mother was heavily involved with AIM (American Indian movement).
My dad was the last monolingual Cherokee. His name was Mack Vann, he was a man who loved culture and sharing it with visitors and handed down that passion to me. My hip camper site is named after my daddy, I am still a daddy‘s girl. The land originated before Sequoyah. who created the Cherokee syllabary. Sequoyah was my fifth generation great grandfather and I am very proud of my Cherokee heritage, I would love to share my culture, my tradition, and my passion with you.

Fossil Creek Ranch is a beautiful stone horsebarn conversion in a beautiful country setting. It has 7 main bedrooms and other sleeping areas.
There is also an small 13 space RV Park - Bois d’Arc RV Park or Bodark.
There is plenty of outdoor fun with hiking trails, including Creek exploration. From the RV park it is approximately a 15 minute walk to the creek, 10 minutes from the barn. A truck or SUV can usually drive right to the creek if weather is decent.
You can rent the barn or stay in the RV Park.

We enjoyed our stop at Heavener Runestone Park. The terrain is hilly and scenic. Our highlight was watching the sun set from the scenic overlook. The amenities are a bit faded, but functional. This was a comfortable place to spend the night on our way south. It was fun to learn about this odd bit of history, too!

I cannot wait to come back next spring! The property is beyond beautiful! The cute outhouse, upcoming shower and hammocks just add to the fun atmosphere here. The hosts are absolutely incredible! They checked on me, gave me some “newbie” advice and assistance and were just the sweetest ever!

Easy to find and pull into. Nice laundry facility. Beside historic Route 66. Also beside the interstate, so if that kind of noise disrupts your sleep, this may not be the best place for you. It didn't bother me. Cute decorations for the autumn season and a huge community fireplace with wood was a nice touch.

Heavener Runestone is breathtaking! This is our third time, and not our last! We even golfed at nearby Wolf Mountain, on a very well maintained golf course. Clean bathroom and shower house. We found this campground 4 years ago, and have built it into our travels. Highly recommend!!

We had a great time at site 2. Easy access to the composting toilet (which is awesome!) for my toddlers and it was nice and open for them to run around. The picnic table, hammocks, and grate for cooking over the fire were awesome additions as well!! We will definitely be back, and are excited to try out the more primitive camping sites Ash has to offer!

We had a very relaxing time. The campsites were very clean and the creek area was as well. The water was wonderful. We will definitely return in the future.
Although the cell service was very weak, we were able to get texts. Laquita was quick to respond to any questions we had.

Burl met us promptly when we arrived and graciously offered us any site we wanted. We chose a site next to the bathhouse because it was a bit further from the road. All the sites have full hookups and are mostly level. Burl and his family live on this working farm with horses, goats, chickens, and probably a lot more that we didn’t see. The bathhouse has a laundry room and one shower/bathroom that were cool and clean. We enjoyed watching them work with the horses after dinner and sitting in the rocking chairs in the shade. I recommend Deepcreek Ranch and would certainly stay there again. We couldn’t resist buying a few dozen farm fresh eggs for our journey.
