We have easy access to two main highways with the nearest Walmart 10 minutes away. Good cell phone coverage for all the main providers at most locations on the property. My location is about 8 miles due west of the little town of Caney, Oklahoma. I’m very rural, no close neighbors, 19 acres of pasture and woods. Plenty of places to park, one area is back in the woods a bit with water and 50 amp service, others strictly boondocking. There’s not much “close” to me but I’m kind of centrally located between Atoka, Texoma and McGee lakes. Boggy depot state park and Fort Washita is close by and south of me is the Choctaw Casino. It’s very quiet and no nighttime lights so there’s an awesome night sky. Please check out the map I've included in my photos for precise directions. The last 2.5 miles to get to my house is by gravel road and my entrance may be a bit difficult to spot but my name and address is on the big black mailbox. Just turn in and cross the cattle guard and go through the driveway into the open field. Parking is on the north side of the drive along the tree line or back in the woods. Don’t hesitate to contact me directly for directions. If you follow my guidance, you should have no problem finding me or turning into my drive. Pets are welcome but I suggest they remain on a leash if you’re around my house or other campers and please clean up after them. The open field around my house is not always mowed because my neighbor cuts the hay and I like the spring wildflowers. I try to keep a walking path around my place but I travel too so at times it may not be well maintained. Since I do travel a lot, I may not be home when you arrive. Please make yourself at home and leave the place as you found it. Thank you!

Weekend Trip to Bigfoot County Campgrounds

Found some trees perfect for a hammock, hiked down the rock trail, made a campfire cake, had camp coffee and enjoyed the scenery. It was my kind of party. Camper was in good shape, smelled and looked clean. Having a flushable toilet, a queen size bed to sleep in, and the option to use the stove were all very convenient (especially with a 4 year old). Great place for the price, I enjoyed the atmosphere and it was peaceful and fun. Host was responsive.

Weekend Trip to Heavener Runestone Park

My family and I loved tent camping here! The views were beautiful! We were at site #8, it was very pretty and peaceful. Lots of trees for nice shade and great spot for a hammock. There even happened to be a big event at the overlook one of the days we were there, but there was still enough separation that it wasn’t too loud and we still felt like we had our privacy. The Runestone didn’t disappoint! We thought it was cool. We really enjoyed hiking the trails too.

Watching the sunset at this location was breathtaking! The campsite, restroom, grounds, and gift shop were clean and well maintained. Everyone there was friendly and very informative. We came for an educational event that was fun and well organized. My family loved every moment of our stay from hiking, seeing the runestone, and tent camping!

6 nights at K.C. Ranch

This has to be the best place to camp in Oklahoma. Longhorns roaming around, getting to tour with Casey (grandson) and the host, Glenda, was awesome. Such a great family and time on this property. I was there 6 nights, 4 at a camp where I truck camped, 2 at the tiny home. The tiny home was perfect when it got really cold and was able to have a good comfortable shelter. The campsite was great and remote but still able to have the longhorns roaming nearby. I would 100% recommend to anyone in this area and plan to stay next time I’m over that way.

The campsite was absolutely lovely! The forest felt more like the Black Hills, SD. I had no idea Oklahoma could look like this. It was SO peaceful I could've been 100 miles from civilization, yet Hevener was nestled beautifully in the valley below. Hearing those spooky train horns every hour or so was neat-my boy couldn't get enough! The short hike to the runestone was fun, and that sweet young lady in the gift shop went outta her way for our yard game. What a cozy Oklahoma spot! Terrain was a bit rough and steep and rocky so be advised.

Excellent campsite for our first time visiting the park! The trails were great and easy to navigate, amenities offered worked well, and the host was communicative too. If you plan to stay at this campsite (or probably anywhere in the park), just be mindful there’s a very active train station below the park so you’ll hear it both day & night—earplugs were an essential for me. However, that doesn’t deter my recommendation. The fall leaves were gorgeous, so we picked the perfect weekend to stay.

It was a perfect get away. Has so much to offer right on the land. They had a stack of fire wood for the evening another nice touch my stay. Enjoyed the lounge it had a coffee pot microwave mini ice machine and a vending machine you can buy firewood from it was perfect. Restroom was clean and close. There was all kinds of activities like Frisbee golf.... I had a very nice stay and I will return.

Weekend Trip to Heavener Runestone Park

A quaint little park with unique history and the perfect hikes for beginners or those needing an hour to waltz with nature. You're outside of town but not so far away that running back for something you forgot to be a real problem. Campsites are as you would expect, a platform that is just big enough for our large sundome tent (8 person), a firepit and metal grill for each site and a concrete and wood picnic table. They even have shepherd hooks for campers to hang a lantern or lights. The camping area is lit up at night by a string of bulb lights, giving just enough glow to get down to the bathrooms without being a nuisance when trying to sleep. A wonderful setup for a relaxing weekend. My son and I were the only people in the park at one point and it was very peaceful. Crows, woodpeckers, and squirrels abound but not much else in the way of wildlife. A definite for families or someone looking for a quiet place to pitch a tent or hang a hammock.

Wonderful rustic park! First is the runestone, whose conjecture seems entirely plausible and fascinating! Second, the park was developed around 1970 and looks like it’s basically been unchanged. Third, it’s just plain beautiful. The staff are awesome and very responsive. We loved it.

Creek side cabin was perfect for us! Wonderful community, secluded cabin, and friendly people and animals. Hailey was kind enough to spend the morning with us and share some amazing cacao while we meditated. Highly recommend! Also close to several hiking trails in the ancient forest.

We had a great time here. Beautiful land and cozy cabin. Very comfortable and great kitchen set up with induction stove and convection countertop oven. Everything was very clean and well stocked with everything from board games to laundry soap. The hosts John and Ginny are nice and welcoming. We will definitely come back when we can stay longer.

Weekend Trip to K.C. Ranch

We were unable to camp there due to storms so we ended up in a hotel. Glenda invited us out over to Ranch over The Weekend so we could spend some time with her on the ranch. We did go to the ranch and spent about 4 hours. We met her Longhorns, fed them and got to spend some time in the garden. Glenda is a fabulous hostess. We had a great time! She also gave us places we should visit. I’m definitely going back in the Spring!

Weekend Trip to Dave's Hideout

Stayed at Dave’s Hideout for five days and loved it. Beautiful spot. Tons of stars at night, peaceful, and you can hear and see plenty of wildlife. The grass smelled amazing after the rain. You’re far enough out to feel secluded but can still see other campers in the distance. Dave is also an amazing and kind host. 10/10
