We had a great time camping at Grins n Pickins campground. Christy is so welcoming and friendly. The property is well taken care of and birds / wildlife were abundant. Unfortunately we had to cut our stay a day short as the overnight temps were a little too low for my young son, but we will be back soon when it’s warmer!

The campsite was very nice! I wish we could have stayed longer. The duck eggs were great! Very quiet and serene with hearing the owls at night 😊 Next time through we'll bring the whole family for a night or two! We were even refunded for the wood when we weren't able to use it for a fire due to getting back much later than we hoped.

What a great camp! Carl is very personable, the grounds are beautiful, it’s very secluded (ie; off the beaten path). The camp has a common area to hang out and cook or bonfire or play games. There is also a full ~on grid~ bathroom with a shower and that’s attached to a small game room with a tv and air hockey (if you absolutely feel the need to stay connected). A really peaceful getaway but only about an hour drive to Marietta to the SW, Granville to the NE & Hocking Hills to the south. My sister and I tent/car camped here for 4 nights and 5 days and really hated to leave. 😊

My partner and I came to hocking hills for his birthday and stayed here. It was not too far at all to the park and was an amazing price for the site. The bus was sooo fun and cute. We loved hanging out and appreciated how accommodating it was with the fire pit/wood, all the kitchen equipment, bed was really comfy. It was a great trip, 10/10! We also stayed in the hickory hut and it was a very pleasant stay 😊 if we come back to hocking hills we will def be booking again! I think this was my favorite hip camp stay so far!

Very nice, small and simple! Super fun even in the spring. One complaint though is that the shower drain was clogged with hair before we arrived/used it. Other than that it was nice.

The Bus stay at Woody's was great! It rained through the night and we were nice and dry. We had a short visit, but super relaxing. Pre-ordered fire starter and wood and it was covered n dry and just waiting to be lite, which was very convenient. Loved having water to wash hands/brush teeth in the bus. Option to use stove in the bus as well, even though we didn't need it this time. Comfortable bed and peaceful atmosphere. The bus is located far enough from other sites, to be private, but close enough to use the outhouse. Loved also having water and soap outside the outhouse to wash hands. Would definitely return to this property and spend multi days there instead of just a one night quick trip.

My husband and I enjoyed a weekend getaway at Ester’s land. It was quiet and secluded like we wanted. Having a shower and hot tub at the end of a long day of hiking was amazing. We would stay again if in the area. Thank you again!

This was our first camping trip as a family, and we needed to find something more comfortable than a tent for the little ones first trip. Directions provided by the host made settling in a breeze. The hospitality surpassed expectations, and they even offered us coffee one morning! Everything from the camper to the privy was super clean. We spent one morning exploring the trails on the property, and then visited a nearby cave that was only about 15 minutes away. Very informative conversations about the area and recommendations of things to do from the host. We even got to observe the process of processing, and tanning animal hides! Austin also offers some very useful survival classes you can add on to your trip, and we look forward to learning more next time!

This is a nice clean concrete cabin. Nice firm bed, new hot tub, and a natural pool with deck. Was here during chilly weather and I plan to return during warmer weather to enjoy the pool.

Our family oriented outdoor recreation facility offers primitive camping, PYO produce during the growing season, homesteading activities & nature-based programs. The peaceful 20-acre country farm has food gardens, a frog habitat pool, a barnyard for the chickens & ducks, a bluegill fishin' pond, a pollinator maze, a prairie garden, and an outdoor stage. After crossing a winding creek into 10 acres of woods, you may see deer, turkey, fox, coyote, mink, eagles & barred owls. In early spring, the peepers are peeping, wildflowers are abundant & the vernal pools welcome the wood frogs, salamanders and fairy shrimp. Summer brings on the bullfrogs, butterflies, dragonflies and fireflies. Fall is a great time to pull grapevine to make wreaths & to build stick forts in the woods. We cater to the tent camper so that we can hear frogs & owls instead of generators. But, there is an RV section up front for those with quiet generators with several feet of gravel under the grass to hold the weight of your camper. We charge by the carload & there are different rates for driving back toward the woods for camping depending on the number of wheels & the weight of your vehicle (a factor on the wear & tear on the land). We believe in going outside to play, growing & eating fresh food, strengthening family bonds and promoting the awareness of our natural resources. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: 1) The speed limit is 5 mph as soon as you enter the property (kids & dogs are quick to dart in front of you). 2) As a state registered campground, it is mandatory that you check in at the house to fill out a Registration Form before heading to your campsite. 3) No glass allowed anywhere on the property (we don't want our feet or paws cut open and can do without flat tires). 4) Children under 18 must be attended to at all times for their safety (the frog pool is 10' deep, the pond is 8-10' deep depending on rains, and the creek can turn into a churning river). We have two finished studio cabins. They are very close (2 miles) to the town of Mount Vernon, OH with hiking trails on the property. Pets are allowed but there are free range animals on the property so their safety is priority. We have added a 2 acre fenced in area for dogs off leash. It's our version of a Dog Park. Plenty of bike trails around town and only 20 miles to Mohican State Park. Farm fresh eggs from our rescued chickens and local honey are available for purchase. Money from our vacation rental helps with feeding our rescue animals and expanding our non-profit animal sanctuary.
