Within about a half-hour drive, there are many opportunities for hiking, biking, horseback riding, kayaking, hunting and fishing, and birding.  Nearby parks and forests include Hocking Hills State Park, Hocking Hills State Forest, Lake Hope State Park, Zaleski State Forest, the Moonville Rail Trail, Lake Alma State Park, Tar Hollow State Forest, and more!Set up camp wherever you like!  There are 12 acres of open field space, surrounded by 50 acres of wooded hills and hollows with hiking trails and level spots to pitch tents. Vehicles can be driven to the field sites; we are still working on a road to access the hill sites by vehicle.  The fields have about a dozen "permanent" sites with stone or metal fire rings and log seating.  Portable fire rings are also available that can be moved anywhere.  Dead wood for campfires is free to gather, or split firewood is available to purchase for $5/bundle. A toilet and solar shower are located at the center of the property. An outdoor water spigot is also available. Guests are expected to follow the "Leave No Trace" principles. Any trash packed onto the property must be bagged and taken with you.

Love the independent check-in. The property is fantastic. My daughter and I always go to the same spot every time. It is extremely peaceful and quiet. The valley that we camp in never has any wind. Perfect for tent camping. Caleb is always very accommodating and a great host.

Best part... The stars at night. Beautiful! Porta pot was clean. Camp store was a nice touch. Wish we would have looked at the map better. We would have taken a hike. The location and no interaction with ppl was enjoyable. Nice property, my sister and I would totally come back to camp. Thank u for having us. Perfect birthday weekend 🏕️

This was our 2nd time staying at Caleb’s, very beautiful place and quiet. All the hocking hills attractions aren’t too far away and the town of McArthur has a few family owned restaurants with good food and atmosphere. Highly recommend staying here!

This is a great holler to spend a few days in. Having the camp store on site was so convenient and the whole area was clean and well maintained. The sites were very spacious and my dogs loved the freedom. The view was absolutely incredible!

Amazing time! Land was beautiful, we could make all the noise we wanted without bothering other campers. Dogs were running free. Stars were beautiful. Bathroom was clean, solar shower was cold but surprisingly nicer than expected! They had all the firewood we needed (which was a lot). We weren’t too far from hiking. We would absolutely camp here again.

Really nice and quiet spot! The site was pretty big and had tons of firewood, which was awesome. Heard a bunch of birds and even found a salamander while I was walking around. I ended up leaving early for other reasons, but it was a great place overall, would definitely stay again.

We had another great stay at Altenbrauch Farm. This location is close to many Hocking Hills attractions. It is very short drive to Le Petit Chevalier Vineyards and Farm Winery which is a wonderful place to go and relax after a long day of hiking. The sites are plentiful, spaced far apart and well maintained. The porta potty was also well maintained. Caleb has plenty of firewood for purchase via the HipCamp site or at his small camp store. The camp store is operated on the honor system and has many basics you may need. He also provides brochures for local sites. Caleb’s directions to the Farm are very helpful.

Weekend Trip to Altenbrauch Farm

It is a beautiful spot for tent camping. A bit sad that the creeks and pond were dried up and a portapot or composting toilet in each field would be nice touch. The fields are all in sight of the road but there is very little traffic and lots of space and wildlife to enjoy. The trails are definitely more for ATVs then hiking. All the Hocking Hills attractions and Lake Hope are close by. Lots if butterflys, gasshoppers, katydids, frogs, crickets, and even a couple snakes. We saw a ring neck and a watersnake, which we enjoyed! The stars are beautiful with little light polution. Hopfully rain will come and get the water flowing again.
