There is a small creek my dogs love to play in and a large field for frisbee and star gazing. There are hikes close by at Little Turtle Pond and many restaurants within 10 minutes like Woodys, NauitiVine and Magic City Brewery. Walk the forested blue loop nature trail on an adjoining 13 acres that loops through BIG trees and large rocks of glacial till under the shade of an ancient chestnut oak tree. The trail begins across the road opposite the campground driveway. Ticks, mosquitos and deer flies can be bad at times. Protect yourself!

*Plan Ahead and Prepare
*Know the regulations and special concerns for the area you'll visit.
*Prepare for extreme weather, hazards, and emergencies.
*Schedule your trip to avoid times of high use.
*Visit in small groups when possible. Consider splitting larger groups into smaller groups.
*Repackage food to minimize waste.

*Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
Durable surfaces include maintained trails and designated campsites, rock, gravel, sand, dry grasses or snow.
*Protect riparian areas by camping at least 200 feet from lakes and streams.
*Good campsites are found, not made. Altering a site is not necessary.
In popular areas:
*Concentrate use on existing trails and campsites.
*Walk single file in the middle of the trail, even when wet or muddy.
*Keep campsites small. Focus activity in areas where vegetation is absent.
In pristine areas:
Disperse use to prevent the creation of campsites and trails.
Avoid places where impacts are just beginning.
Dispose of Waste Properly
Pack it in, pack it out. Inspect your campsite, food preparation areas, and rest areas for trash or spilled foods. Pack out all trash, leftover food and litter.
Utilize toilet facilities whenever possible. Otherwise, deposit solid human waste in catholes dug 6 to 8 inches deep, at least 200 feet from water, camp and trails. Cover and disguise the cathole when finished.
Pack out toilet paper and hygiene products.
To wash yourself or your dishes, carry water 200 feet away from streams or lakes and use small amounts of biodegradable soap. Scatter strained dishwater.
Leave What You Find
Preserve the past: examine, photograph, but do not touch cultural or historic structures and artifacts.
Leave rocks, plants and other natural objects as you find them.
Avoid introducing or transporting non-native species.
Do not build structures, furniture, or dig trenches.
Minimize Campfire Impacts
Campfires can cause lasting impacts to the environment. Use a lightweight stove for cooking and enjoy a candle lantern for light.
Where fires are permitted, use established fire rings, fire pans, or mound fires.
Keep fires small. Only use down and dead wood from the ground that can be broken by hand.
Burn all wood and coals to ash, put out campfires completely, then scatter cool ashes.
Respect Wildlife
Observe wildlife from a distance. Do not follow or approach them.
Never feed animals. Feeding wildlife damages their health, alters natural behaviors, [habituates them to humans], and exposes them to predators and other dangers.
Protect wildlife and your food by storing rations and trash securely.
Control pets at all times, or leave them at home.
Avoid wildlife during sensitive times: mating, nesting, raising young, or winter.
Be Considerate of Other Visitors
Respect other visitors and protect the quality of their experience.
Be courteous. Yield to other users on the trail.
Step to the downhill side of the trail when encountering pack stock.
Take breaks and camp away from trails and other visitors.
Let nature's sounds prevail. Avoid loud voices and noises.
These principles were established by the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, and built on work by the US Forest Service, National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management in the mid 1980s. Memory Park is a primitive, beautifully maintained family-owned private campground located near beautiful Atwood Lake State Park. First developed in 1968, Memory Park offers peace, quiet, and tranquility for you and your family for that perfect weekday or weekend getaway .
There are plenty of primitive sites to choose from, including Murphy Meadow, Outback Bend, Honeymoon Point, and Shady Rest, just to name a few. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire pit.
Firewood is available ($10 through hipcamp or cash on-site per full wheelbarrow load).

Edge of the Ledge Camp is a 4 site primitive campground on ground is located in a mature oak hardwood forest that offers bright light under a full forest canopy. In our many camping adventures over the years our favorite campgrounds were in our National Forests. We have built the campground with that "feel" of a forest experience. sit arewidely spaced and offer considerable privacy. There is great scenic motor touring from Spring Mountain, the highest point in the county, across the Mohawk Dam, to riverside drives, scenic backroads and a ride across a covered bridge!
Walk the forested blue loop nature trail on an adjoining 13 acres that loops through BIG trees and large rocks of glacial till under the shade of an ancient chestnut oak tree. The trail begins across the road opposite the campground driveway. Ticks, mosquitos and deer flies can be bad at times. Protect yourself!

The 7 Principals of Leave No Trace
*Plan Ahead and Prepare
*Know the regulations and special concerns for the area you'll visit.
*Prepare for extreme weather, hazards, and emergencies.
*Schedule your trip to avoid times of high use.
*Visit in small groups when possible. Consider splitting larger groups into smaller groups.
*Repackage food to minimize waste.
*Use a map and compass or GPS to eliminate the use of marking paint, rock cairns or flagging. (this is a challenging one for us...any suggestions?)
*Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
Durable surfaces include maintained trails and designated campsites, rock, gravel, sand, dry grasses or snow.
*Protect riparian areas by camping at least 200 feet from lakes and streams.
*Good campsites are found, not made. Altering a site is not necessary.
In popular areas:
*Concentrate use on existing trails and campsites.
*Walk single file in the middle of the trail, even when wet or muddy.
*Keep campsites small. Focus activity in areas where vegetation is absent.
In pristine areas:
Disperse use to prevent the creation of campsites and trails.
Avoid places where impacts are just beginning.
Dispose of Waste Properly
Pack it in, pack it out. Inspect your campsite, food preparation areas, and rest areas for trash or spilled foods. Pack out all trash, leftover food and litter.
Utilize toilet facilities whenever possible. Otherwise, deposit solid human waste in catholes dug 6 to 8 inches deep, at least 200 feet from water, camp and trails. Cover and disguise the cathole when finished.
Pack out toilet paper and hygiene products.
To wash yourself or your dishes, carry water 200 feet away from streams or lakes and use small amounts of biodegradable soap. Scatter strained dishwater.
Leave What You Find
Preserve the past: examine, photograph, but do not touch cultural or historic structures and artifacts.
Leave rocks, plants and other natural objects as you find them.
Avoid introducing or transporting non-native species.
Do not build structures, furniture, or dig trenches.
Minimize Campfire Impacts
Campfires can cause lasting impacts to the environment. Use a lightweight stove for cooking and enjoy a candle lantern for light.
Where fires are permitted, use established fire rings, fire pans, or mound fires.
Keep fires small. Only use down and dead wood from the ground that can be broken by hand.
Burn all wood and coals to ash, put out campfires completely, then scatter cool ashes.
Respect Wildlife
Observe wildlife from a distance. Do not follow or approach them.
Never feed animals. Feeding wildlife damages their health, alters natural behaviors, [habituates them to humans], and exposes them to predators and other dangers.
Protect wildlife and your food by storing rations and trash securely.
Control pets at all times, or leave them at home.
Avoid wildlife during sensitive times: mating, nesting, raising young, or winter.
Be Considerate of Other Visitors
Respect other visitors and protect the quality of their experience.
Be courteous. Yield to other users on the trail.
Step to the downhill side of the trail when encountering pack stock.
Take breaks and camp away from trails and other visitors.
Let nature's sounds prevail. Avoid loud voices and noises.
These principles were established by the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, and built on work by the US Forest Service, National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management in the mid 1980s. This relationship continues today. The principles are based on and informed by scientific research in the fields of recreation ecology and human dimensions of natural resources. I stayed at Kent's land as I wanted to fly fish at Apple Creek and the Upper and Lower Clear Fork of the Mohican. His spot put me 20 minutes or so to Apple, 15 minutes or so to the Lower Clear Fork and 20 minutes to the Upper Clear Fork. This made it a great place for me to make camp. While it is located in a "neighborhood" type of setting and isn't particularly remote, in the spring and summer when the trees are fully in leaf etc. it is likely quite pretty. It is rather bleak in the winter but frankly so is most of OH so that really wasn't an issue for me. I would stay there again if I planned the same trip. It is also perfect for exploring around downtown Loudenville which is a quaint town for sure.

We had a great time! We have trouble finding spots for winter camping and this space was great. We actually forgot our tent poles so the trip could have needed a lot of adapting- but with the access to the barn, we were able to set up inside. Facilities & amenities were clean & as described. Loved watching the animals in the morning and setting up my hammock back by the chickens. Allison was a fantastic host. Would absolutely stay here again!

Great spot located right by CVNP. We enjoyed the campfire and laughed every time a goat would remind us we weren’t alone by sneezing. Even though the sun set early and the cool fall air filled the night we had fun. The barn was a nice surprise and good location for a small party. Woke up in the middle of the night to pee (very clean port-a-potty) and the stars were so clear and bright!

We enjoyed our stay though we were late to arrive an early to depart for a meeting in a N.E. Cleveland suburb. It was easy to find in the dark and the goats were fun after breakfast. If you have children it would be especially nice. In our case, our Great Pyrenees enjoyed meeting new friends.

Jason and Marcie's place was practically perfect! I was in town for a concert and needed a place nearby the casino to rest and begin following day exploring CVNP. It's peaceful and roomy, but still within a few minutes of restaurants, retail , etc if you need to run an errand.
Marcie greeted me shortly after arrival and made sure I knew where everything was. She answered all my questions and was ok with me coming back late after the show. I was the only Hipcamper that night so I had the whole place to myself!

They are such wonderful, generous, and communicative hosts who made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We loved chatting with them and exploring their beautiful property…from canoeing on the pond and spotting fish to picking fresh berries near our site. The location couldn’t have been better: perfectly situated near Cuyahoga National Park, farm stands, and plenty of local attractions/amenities. We couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming and memorable stay!
