Weekend Trip to CHERRY VALLEY CHILL

If you’re looking to completely disconnect, unwind, and experience nature at its best, this secluded campsite is the place to be. Tucked away from the noise and crowds, it felt like our own private slice of paradise. The peace and quiet were unmatched, just the sounds of birds, the crackling fire, and the rustle of trees in the breeze. The site was beautifully maintained. We had plenty of space to spread out, and it felt incredibly safe and serene. At night, the stars were unreal. Waking up to the fresh morning air, was exactly the kind of reset we needed. This place is everything a campsite should be – peaceful, scenic, and unforgettable. We’re already planning our next trip back. If you’re lucky enough to snag a reservation, don’t hesitate. Just go.

Very nice and secluded campsite and only one site. Conveniently located between Football HOF and R&RHOF plus near all the shopping you need. No amenities but we were self contained so no problem for us.

We loved camping here and will be again! Rick is so nice and his land is beautiful. The creek is very nice and peaceful, great to cool off in. The pond is also nice to fish or just sit and relax on the dock. Looking forward to camping here again!

Super cute cabin with plenty of space for tents. The provided compost outhouse, picnic tables, and tree cover made for an exceptional summer camping experience. Lisa was very responsive and nice, even making sure we were taken care of while she was away. Highly recommend, would stay again!

Troy's property and set up was PERFECT for what I was looking for. My dog and I fully enjoyed the grassy field and fire pit, and the indoor accommodations provided everything we needed for a quick "camping" adventure on our long roadtrip. I may even plan my return route to stay here again.

Weekend Trip to Camp near the Portage Lakes

We had a pleasant stay at the campsite. Check in was easy and Joe was there to meet us when we arrived. The grass in the campsite was long, which made using the campsite a little harder but it was manageable. As the host mentioned, this campsite is directly under a large set of power lines, so there is a slight humming noise most of the time you’re there but if that doesn’t bother you then this is a great place to stay! The driveway to get to the site is a grassy road, but access is easy enough. The site itself is somewhat isolated and quite large, with trees on the sides. Be aware that the site is mostly comprised of uneven ground so setting up a large tent could prove challenging, although we didn’t really run into any issues with the tent we have.

Not far from stores, yet the Lakeview Site felt remote enough….!!!! Barely heard sounds aside from animals, 15 second walk to the lake where I caught bass and blue gill, bugs average, it rained heavily for approximately 16 hours but I was happy in my dry tent. Rick came over the first day and gave me some history that enhanced my experience, free firewood, SUPERB HOST!!! I’ll be back!

2 nights at Barrel Run Creek

We absolutely loved our stay at this campsite! It was incredibly spacious, quiet, and peaceful, the perfect place to unwind. The site is right next to a beautiful little creek, and we even spotted a beaver twice during our stay, which was such a cool experience. There were so many amazing spots for hammocks, and we spent hours just relaxing and listening to the water. The campsite had everything we needed: firewood, a fire ring, picnic table, trash can, and even axe throwing! The bathrooms were just a short drive away and were super clean. Nick, the host, was so kind and accommodating. We felt really welcome and taken care of. I’d absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful nature escape.

This was the 4th trip that my family has taken to Bass and Buck, but the first time at this site. I came with 2 young kids and lots of gear, and it was very convenient having the site so close to parking/ the bathroom. We still felt tucked away and like we had our own private space, so it was a great mix of convenience and adventure. The kids loved hiking in the creek! Another great trip 😊

Weekend Trip to Barrel Run Creek

The site was perfect for our weekend. The view of the creek was gorgeous and the tall trees kept everything covered and cool. The space was perfect for the two of us and our two dogs to enjoy being dogs. Plenty of wood and an axe to chop for firewood. It was truly perfect for us.

This was our second time staying with Melissa. As usual, she was an amazingly welcoming and accommodating host! Although the weather didn't want to play nice on the morning we were heading out, we still enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing and peaceful evening of camping in comfort! 1 night at BIG "D" Oasis

Once I realized where to park and camp it was a lovely time! Be prepared to carry your items from the parking area to the camping site. The river/creek is beautiful and the trees provide a lot of privacy from the residential area around. It is a safe space with a fire pit, garbage can, and seating. There was some poison ivy to avoid but that's nature. Firewood available by donation. Some hills to traverse. My deaf dog enjoyed surveying the area, unleashed, safe from the road. Responsive land owner. My dog and I booked a second night because it worked out so well. Close to civilization but secluded enough to feel free to unwind and unplug... however plenty of cell service if listening to an audio book or music.

My friend and I felt very comfortable staying here! The host was welcoming and there right when we arrived to guide us on where to go. Great communication through the app as well. Would recommend to anyone coming for Cuyahoga National Park or Portage Lake.

With over 230 acres, a lake, trails, the Grand River, plenty of wildlife, and FREE firewood. Bass and Buck Adventures is the perfect place to get away. Once known as Parkman Gorge the valley was a hub for water powered industry in the early 1800's. The river and valley is home to a wide array of wildlife. Deer, turkey, eagles, hawks, owls, mink, river otters to name a few. The area also attracts many song birds including a wide variety of warblers. There is also an abundance of wild flowers. The valley is rich in Native American history. Many artifacts have been found on the property. My great grandfather talked about the last Native American to live in Parkman. He had a cabin on one of the bluffs along the river. In the 1820's there was a water powered sawmill, flaxseed mill, and forge on the river. The boy scouts used the valley for a camp in the 1920,s. My grandpa purchased the property in the 50's from Ohio Edison. Ohio Edison's plan to dam up the river for hydro power never materialized. The valley has been a favorite for outdoor enthusiasts. Camping, hiking, fishing, hunting. Many of the items used for the camp sites have been reclaimed. The fire rings are old tractor rims and scrap steel. The tent platform is from reclaimed deck lumber. Welcome to Sawdust FarmCamp! Located in Geneva, Ohio. We have four different sites to choose from: one tent site, two glamping tent sites, and one cabin. NEW 2025! The Nature Mindfulness Hike, where we find a deeper connection to nature, is now included with your stay. It is held every Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Need some additional relaxation? Book a Reiki Healing at the Jug House next to the pond for an extra fee. Reiki is a Japanese stress reduction and relaxation technique that promotes healing. Contact your host for availability before booking. We also have the option to book all our sites for a 15-person retreat, with special extras only available for that booking, including a pavilion teepee tent. Portable toilets are available, pets are welcome, and campfires are permitted. Potable water and hot water showers are only available at our cabin, and our glamping sites only have solar camp showers (not the tent site New hot showers are being planned for the 2024 season. Naturalist Isabelle H. Klein wrote a collection of letters from her home of Sawdust (named form the sawdust left by the loggers of the early 60’s) for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Explorer Magazine from the winter of 1969 to the summer of 1976. They then were published as the book “Letters From Sawdust” by the Press of Case Western Reserve University for the Museum. It is a lyrical voyage through the seasons at the Sawdust Tract in Northeast Ohio. She details encounters with the wildlife of the area as well as the changing seasons and plant life. Reminiscent of Thoreau's writings about Walden. In 1978 an additional house was moved onto the property from Sidley's gravel pit and joined with the existing Klein farmhouse. We decided to preserve almost 400 acres of the property with the help of the Western Reserve Land Conservatory for the Cleveland Museum Of Natural History, Natural Areas. Forest is home to the red-sided dace, and 10 rare species of birds, including cerulean warblers. The original small family farm and surrounding woods we have retained are being restored and updated. We are proud to call Sawdust home and would love to share it with you.

Three Dog Homestead

I started this 2 acre homestead earlier this year. It is home to myself, my three dogs, a couple ducks, turkeys, and a crap ton of chickens. I’m very close to all the creature comforts like Walmart and Target, but the property is wooded on three sides so you feel like you’ve gotten away from the city. There is a small creek my dogs love to play in and a large field for frisbee and star gazing. There are hikes close by at Little Turtle Pond and many restaurants within 10 minutes like Woodys, NauitiVine and Magic City Brewery. If you enjoy boating Nimistila Reservoir (electric only very kayak friendly) and Portage Lakes are a quick 12 minute drive. I look forward to meeting you soon!

Hemlock Hideaway

Hemlock Hideaway and its 18 acres was originally part of a larger 100-acre plot that was surveyed and settled in the late 1700's by Gideon Granger of the Connecticut Land Company. Granger sold it to one Jehoikim Burget in 1815 for the whopping price of $400. The resident house was built in 1816 by Burget and then passed down to family members over the next 5 generations, until we bought it in 2003, marking the first time the house and remaining property were ever officially sold. In the mid 1800's, a grist mill was put up across the river from the cabin, and our creek was the main road in and out of that operation. There is a gravestone belonging to the wife of Jehoikim's son, she being half Native American and therefore couldn't be buried in the local white cemetery. We also own the original hand-written deed from 1815 detailing the sale of the original 100 acres to Jehoikim Burget. Learn more about this land: Our primitive cabin nestled in the woods overlooking the Grand River is a nature-lover's paradise! Come canoe, fish, experience wine country, or unplug and just get away from it all. Please note: There is no running water or electricity at the site, but the cabin is generator-ready and there is an outhouse. The cabin does have a wood burning stove for heat and simple cooking, however there is no running water or electricity. That being said, the building is wired and has plugs and outlets and is generator-ready. You provide your own generator and fuel. We provide bottled water, sheets, pillows, flashlights, a fire ring with cooking grate, charcoal grill (you provide the charcoal), access to firewood, and an outhouse with toilet paper. Our 1/4 mile of Grand River frontage can be accessed right outside the cabin door via a quick hike down the somewhat steep hillside. If hiking isn't preferred, then a quick two-minute drive will take you to the Harpersfield Covered Bridge Metropark - a favorite of local fishermen. Bigger groups with tents are welcome, but will need to bring all supplies beyond what we provide for two guests.
