1 night at Artemis Gardens BnB

My stay at Lisa's was just magical. The vibe was just heaven to this old hippie's heart who felt like a kid in a candy store exploring all the Wonders that can be found in every corner. This place is so unique warm and welcoming there's a little something for just about everyone unless you just want to hold up in a room alone and then you might as well go to a Motel 6 because this place is all about engaging in life in all forms whether it is chilling out to good music, creating some art or playing music on one of the instruments or cooking a nice meal for the first time in 6 weeks, even just sitting and watching the rain through the beautiful floor to ceiling Windows surrounded by plants. I have already told many friends and I'm planning a return visit. Thank you Lisa you are a gracious and beautiful hostess

Weekend Trip to Fairhaven

We had such a great time camping at Fairhaven! The campsite was nice with a lot of shaded trees, privacy and a picnic table. We loved how peaceful it was at night and the close proximity to a real toilet (which was especially clean)! Our little ones really loved looking at the chickens and had fun playing in the sandbox area. Melissa, the host, was very communicative and hospitable. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely be back!

3 nights at The Land of Milk And Honey

We loved camping here. Our new favorite spot. The owners were incredibly kind and went above and beyond on the amenities! We were greeted with cookies (for us and our pup!)--what a start! Those cookies are HEAVEN. Firewood was available, the outhouse was clean (they even provide reading material!). The spot was secluded and the creek babbling in the background was soo relaxing. The farm animals were sweet and didn't mind us visiting everyday with our dog. They provided trash/recycling bins, an excellent cooktop and a well-thought out space to set up camp! We even had trees to hammock in and the grass was cut around the field so we had a wonderful walking path. The turkeys were a hoot to listen to! 😆 We will absolutely be back and feel so lucky to have found this place!

Polly’s land right on the bank of the Ohio River had recently flooded. It was still beautiful and peaceful. We appreciated that Polly made a special trip to help us with a lock and key issue , on a rainy Friday night! The carport shelter was great in the rain, camping in our van.

My adult daughter and I do a get away each year to celebrate our birthdays. We both are exhausted professionals and need to truly wind down. Lisa’s place was exactly what we needed. The house is so deeply chill and comfy! So many cool things to look at and touch. The added plus of the hanging hoop really blew my daughter’s mind and I loved watching her play like a girl again. We will 100% be coming back!!!

Vaughn's got a great space. After camping with a group the last couple of trips, I was looking to camp solo and this was a good creekside spot that fit that mood. While I was a lone camper, this spot works for a small group as well, with the benefit of a nice outhouse. Which the sound of the creek will have you visit a few times. Overall, a fantastic spot where you can get a nice mix of farm and nature, and to take a break from the world beyond the creek.

It was a peaceful stay. A nice retreat while in town for worlds WGI (drumline competition). Lisa made breakfast & coffee each morning. Other guests brought their doggo Fox. It was nice having a furry friend around. I hope to come back next year & bring my husband & dog too!

Everything went GREAT! Kim is super friendly and sweet! Although it was windy for our stay, Kim’s farm was PERFECT for our first time camping in our new travel trailer! We look forward to camping here again. The cows were a plus as well😇

Its a great spot. The host was very friendly but not intrusive. He welcomed us and gave us some cookies shortly after we had gotten all set up. It's secluded and the actual campsite is tucked away in the woods by a creek. There was a very friendly turkey who came to visit us multiple times. We also got to see the cows up close. There was also a rooster who would wake us up every morning, but he was far enough away to not be too loud. Lots of ducks, cranes, and bats at night. It rained a lot while we were there which we found quite peaceful. Perfect getaway for us, completely recommend this site.

Weekend Trip to Artemis Gardens BnB

Lisa (human), Nemo, Luna, and Artemis (cats) were amazing hosts during my stay. I came for an outdoorsy getaway and the hiking in the area was plentiful and close. Definitely check out the Charleston Falls - they're amazing year round! Lisa's house is a work of art, each nook and cranny painted and decorated with her own work and charming decor. The room was cozy, the bed comfy, the cats friendly (shout out to my girl Nemo, who will crawl into your skin if you let her. Lots of kisses and cuddles from that ginger sweetheart). The highlight is the sitting room with gorgeous plants and lots of sunlight, looking out onto greenery and critters. Lisa was a gracious host who answered all messages/requests quickly. She made me breakfast and gave me recs for local spots. Spot was easy to find, parking was easy, and although there are a few far-flung neighbors it was 100% quiet.

4 nights at GloryField Hospitality Farm

Had to be in Jamestown, OH for a couple of days, and this Hip Camp site was in the perfect location. The setting was peaceful, and each morning brought a beautiful sunrise. Unfortunately, the weather was cold, windy, and rainy during our stay—I wish it had been warmer so I could have taken a nature walk around the property. The site was easy to access, making arrival and departure hassle-free. Kimberly, the host, was fantastic with communication, and if you're traveling with a group, she has nearby Airbnb properties as well. Looking forward to coming back in better weather!

2 nights at Rustic Retreat

I loved staying at Rustic Reteat! The property is beautiful and Ro wet was a generous host. I don't do the traditional tent camping but I stead have decked out my car for camping with a hatchback tent. Robert had a space for me to pull my car into and stay for the week. Since it was the "off season" I happened to be the only camper here, so it was very quiet. It was also provided an extension cord to be able to hook up my electric and stay comfortably during the last of the winter weather. I highly recommend staying here. The airstreams that are available to stay in look beautiful and are situated to give privacy for any camper.

This was our second time at Land of Milk and Honey, the experience was as great as the first time. We love how secluded this place feels so when we need to get out of the city, it is the perfect spot. Bathroom is one of best I've seen at the dozen or so Hip camps I have stayed at. There is also a very impressive outdoor cooking setup so if you don't have your own this is a big win for you. Hosts are very helpful and accommodating, we were even greeted with some AWESOME homemade cookies and treats for the dogs. My dog Tippy buried hers near the wood pile so we're all very excited to go back soon.

This 5 acre property is loaded with activities! The stocked pond (catch and release) is a great place to teach your kids how to fish. You don't have to be an experienced fisherman to catch a fish in this pond! Swimming, kayaking, paddle boat, cornhole, small beach area for the little ones, and 2 acres of wooded trails for those who enjoy a peaceful walk. Wildlife is abundant and they prefer to be left alone. Please stay on the trails to preserve all vegetation. If you see a fawn or other babies, please do not touch these animals. Momma will be back! If you see one in distress, please contact the host. The community area at the gazebo offers a charcoal grill (charcoal available for purchase), seating, electric outlets, and water. Please be considerate to other guest while using this area. Trash receptacles are available at different areas on the property. Fresh eggs and produce will be available when in season. Please ask if you are interested. Campsites are located in the woods and are primitive. Sites include picnic table, fire pit, and trash can. Campers have access to a bathroom with a shower that is located in the basement of the cabin. All campers need to check-in with the on-site owners. All gear can be transported with a golf cart. Fairhaven - Cabin on the Pond can also be rented on the Airbnb website. Local attractions Springfield: Mad River canoeing/tubing/kayaking, Buck Creek State Park, ECO Sports Corridor Whitewater Park, Frank Lloyd Wright's Westcott House, Mad River Gorge, Cedar Bog Nature Preserve, George Rogers Clark Park - which has nearly 240 acres of hiking trails and license-free fishing. Wittenberg is a Lutheran-affiliated liberal arts college with a national reputation for excellent academic standards, a strong athletic tradition, and is widely known for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Mother Stewarts Brewing is located downtown as well as many great restaurants and shops. Yellow Springs: With a bike trail that is part of a 360 mile paved system in southwest Ohio and 2000 acres of preserved woodland to the east, Yellow Springs is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. Explore over fifty small locally owned boutiques featuring one of a kind merchandise from handcrafted pottery to custom designed jewelry to designer shoes. A truly unique shopping experience. Urbana: Nice small town with lots of shops and restaurants in the square. Freshwater Farms of Ohio is the largest indoor fish hatchery in the state of Ohio. Pick up some trout and check out the sturgeon petting zoo with the kiddos! Dayton: It’s home to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, with a vast collection of aircraft from early 1900s planes to a space shuttle exhibit. Carillon Historical Park contains a Wright Brothers plane, 19th-century buildings and antique trains. Ohio River experience

California, Ohio is a community on the Ohio River about a twenty minute drive upstream from Cincinnati. Actually the eastern-most neighborhood of Cincinnati, it has it's own small town or quaint village atmosphere. Safe, flat, scenic and walkable, California boasts several dining experiences, one a brewery, and quite a variety of recreational experiences. Riverbend, a music venue in season, is a mile away, possible walking distance, as is Belterra, a race track and casino. The bike trail is a few blocks away and connects to all the other area bike trails including the Loveland Bike Trail along the Wild and Scenic Little Miami River. A local nature preserve, California Woods, offers hiking and nature programs, and there is even the California Golf Course. If watching baseball leagues play games is your cup of tea, there is a large sports complex with ball fields in California. A town park with trees and large, grassy open spaces and small playground is a few blocks away. Bring your game of horse shoes, corn hole, a frisbee to throw, your skateboard, golf cart, or some bikes just to cruise around and take in the scenery. Nearby, and right the Wild and Scenic Little Miami River is Armleder Park, also with walking and biking trails which also connect to the 5 mile loop around Lunken Airport. I have two properties which offer two different kinds of camping, which I have itemized separately in the Hipcamp listings. RV Campers will park on the upper level at the Panama Street address , and have one set of amenities. It is a short walk lead down to the Ohio River where there is a small patio with table and chairs overlooking the river. Tent campers set up their tents right beside the river and have a different set of amenities, as itemized on this website. It's an unusual set up, as perhaps Hipcamper spots often are. It is interesting and relaxing to watch the barges and pleasure boats go by. On one hand I feel like I am in the middle of nowhere when I am on these (small, very not fancy) properties by the river. On the other, there are planes, trains, barges and pleasure boats, and motorcycles passing by at times. The River can be mesmerizing and serene, shimmering in the western sun, or busy with weekend pleasure boats and barge traffic. Take a walk around town, then sit by the river and watch the boats go by. Relax, set up your grill and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Ohio River. Perfect for river rats. Downtown Cincinnati is 15 or 20 minutes away with no traffic, and there are two or three ways to get there. There is a lot to do in Cincinnati. My place in California is just a few minutes from the I 275 exit.

GloryField Hospitality Farm is a 148 acre active farm and vacation destination. Enjoy your stay and the picturesque view of fields, cow pastures, and wetland pond. Spend your day fishing at the catch & release pond, hiking the 2 miles of mowed trails, you are 3 miles from the Ohio Erie Prairie Bike Trail head. Ask about helping with some of the farm chores. The farm is shared space with a variety of short term rental sites; however each site has over 100ft away from each other. The owner Kim also lives on the property in the barn with her 2 golden doodles Scooby & Trixie. The nearest town of S. Charleston is 3 miles down the road and has a good grocery store, gas station, & dollar stores. Restaurants include Pizza/sub/salads, Chinese, Coffee shop, bakery, & Ice cream (unfortunately no delivery). Other popular destinations are... Cedarville University - 10 Minutes, Yellow Springs & Youngs Jersey Dairy - 20 Minutes. Larger cities of Springfield, Xenia, & London - 30 minutes. Dayton, Columbus, Kings Island, and The Air Force Museum - 1 hour.

The cabin is rustic, some of the native plants can be prickly, and pollinators are everywhere - including the honeybees with stingers (who live in three different natural hives on the property).
