We're about 10-15 minutes' drive away from downtown Asheville and a $12-$15 Uber ride. Unfortunately, public transportation is not very accessible from the campground.
*FAQ: Is this a good spot to bring my kiddos?
Our campground is not equipped to handle the magical, whirlwind force that children release unto the world. There's a lot of breakable stuff, tempting treehouses (that might be occupied by other guests!), sites that are within earshot of each other, and hazards that aren't a good fit for kids.

- There are approximately a bajillion breweries in Asheville, many of which are within 5-15 minutes away.
- Downtown Asheville (~10-15 minutes), West Asheville (~5-10 minutes) and the River Arts District (~5 minutes)

This sweet 4 acre property lies on a gorgous s-turn of Reems Creek, 1 mile from downtown Weaverville. There is a porta-potty provided, a hose attached to our house, and a hot water outdoor shower that campers are welcome to. We have 3 large, friendly dogs who you will definitely meet. So, dog lovers only. Reems creek is known for its great trout fishing so bring a fishing license and your poles! The water is pristine and great for swimming as well. Welcome to my peaceful homestead in the valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This rustic studio space I affectionately call Chicken Church, has been a labor of love, using all the materials I have collected from my many construction projects over the years... and many states. My friends all know who to pass the junk along to. The space is heated with a wood stove and has an antique 1922 wood cook stove--do you know how to cook on one? On-site extras: A massage therapist is often available on-site — just ask about pricing and availability. We also offer 2–3 hour wood-fired sauna sessions for an additional fee (covers the labor and wood involved) — well worth it, and easy to arrange with advance notice.
Location: You're 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, with easy access to great hiking, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and art galleries. Asheville is 15 minutes away, Weaverville about 10.
A note on noise: This is a quiet retreat, not a party spot. Our nearest neighbors are about 200 yards down the hill, so we ask all guests to keep noise low, especially in the evening, which is also why the back deck is reserved as a silent space.

Our gateway to Pisgah camper van is set on top of a mountain on 10 acres. It is parked on the land in the front of my home, with a separate parking area for privacy. It is the perfect spot, centrally located between Asheville, skiing and tubing resorts, and national forests, each being between 20 and 30 minutes drive. It has a bed that sleeps two, as well as a seating area that the table goes down and converts into a small bed. The camper van is air-conditioned and has a space heater, has a conduction cooktop in the kitchenette, as well as running water in the sink. There is a portable flushing camping toilet inside. The cabin at wild ridge is OFF GRID (meaning no power or running water) but I promise, with our solar panels and rain collection system you won't miss being ON the grid at all! The cabin and the drive (or hike) up was designed for the adventurous at heart! So, drive on up if you have 4WD or AWD and if you don't, no worries! Just park in the designated space, grab your gear and hike on up! (The hike in is steep... about 300 ft but takes less than 5 minutes) We have a cooler up there for any perishables you may have, just bring ice :)
Please note: We have to close the outdoor heated shower during the cold winter months, however we provide an all season 5 gallon solar shower bag to use during this time. We also have a list at the cabin of other places nearby that provide hot showers in the winter months for a small fee.
In the rare event that heavy snow is expected, we will have to close the road leading up to the cabin because of its steepness. If this occurs, you will be given a full refund for the cancellation.
To heat the cabin, there is a un-vented wall mounted heater that heats the space really well! Since the cabin is insulated, the heater works quick to heat the small area up so you will stay nice and cozy!

Also note that there is a hand washing station outside of the dome next to the port a potty however when temperatures dip into the teens and single digits the water can freeze up in the hand washing station. We do also provide hand sanitizer as a back up. The outdoor shower is only open typically from April through October. In addition, the only form of heat is a wood burning stove with starters and wood provided, so it will be your responsibility to make sure that the stove keeps burning with wood as to keep the dome warm. This most likely will entail getting up at least once a night to stoke/put wood on the fire. On very hot summer days the dome can get very warm inside. We have a high powered fan and black out curtains to help but it still can get very warm. Best to utilize the outdoor space in the late morning/early afternoon hours or use this time to explore the area. THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING!
Also, there may be some bugs that you see. Especially stink bugs in September and October. We do our best to keep bugs out, yet this is a Glamping experience which is between camping and a typical Airbnb experience so please plan/pack/expect accordingly. Thanks!

Please note: The glamping deck sits on a shared driveway with neighbor traffic in the early morning and after school hours. While we love animals, this site is pet-free. Neighbors may occasionally walk their pets along the driveway in the afternoon or evening.
We provide firewood, fresh-ground coffee and creamer, tea, cooking spices, all cookware, plates, bowls, and linens for your stay. Please bring your own tent if you’re hosting extra guests.

This no ordinary campground. Pause is an adventure that will feel like you are exploring your own private mountain nature reserve. Our campers asked for it we are delivering…coming this Fall new campsites with 2WD access!! Stay tuned… Aramesh is 120 acres of Blue Ridge heaven with something for every wilderness adventure seeker: unmatched mountain views, lush old growth forests, babbling brooks, and miles of trails for all skill levels. The property starts at 3700 ft altitude, with summit at 4500 ft on the Glades mountain ridge. We have only a few campsites on the vast property, so the wind in the trees and birds will be all you hear. Come and stay with us and be renewed!
IMPORTANT: 4WD or AWD is required to access our property. There is a sometimes steep and windy gravel road into Pause. Please make sure your vehicle has 4WD or AWD before you book.
Campsites: They are 3/4-1/4 mile from the entrance. Some are accessible by 4WD. There may be some vigorous hiking involved, but the views are worth it. The pads are various sizes. Let us know what the needs of your party are and we can help you choose from the available spots. We also have several more remote “off-menu” sites for those seeking a backpacking adventure - ask for more information if your are interested.
Hiking: There are several miles of trails on the property. They range from an easy slope to very strenuous. The entire property is fenced so you won't easily get lost. Your climbing efforts will be amply rewarded by stunning views, especially at sunset. Trail maps are available upon request.
On-Site Amenities: we provide a clean porta-potty and running water that is spring fed. We ask that you follow "Leave-No-Trace" procedures during your stay.
Off-Site Amenities: If you choose to explore the area : we are a 10 minute drive from I-40 Exit 24. Asheville is 45 minutes away; Waynesville is 25 minutes away. Presnell's Grocery (highly recommended, family-owned store that sells locally farmed products) is 10 minutes away from the property entrance. The Ingles supermarket in Canton is a 15 minute drive. You will find every kind of fast food in that area. There are also several excellent local dining options in Canton, Clyde, and Waynesville which we are happy to recommend to you by request.

Very quirky hip camp. Slept in the Claude Jean Damme Van. Clean and comfortable. Just a short walk to bathroom, shower and fire pit. Really just a few steps from the van. Your check in is your reservation. Loved the firewood bags.

We absolutely loved our time at the cabin! Lisa and Doug are wonderful hosts who make you feel like family. The view is wonderful and the cabin is too. We enjoyed hiking to the balds and campfire at night. This a a secluded gem where you can really pull back from the world for a few days. The hike in is a steady slog of a long uphill but worth it. We can’t wait to go again!

Doug's place was incredible! He provided the water and trickle shower which made our stay much easier. We hooked our hammocks up, turned the string lights on, and enjoyed the amazing views. As long as you take the drive slow and pay attention to traffic around the bend, it's easy enough to get to. It rained quite a bit during our stay, but with the rain/wind tarps our stuff stayed dry. Would absolutely stay again!

We had a great time at the bunny farm! Cat met us on site and walked us through everything. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. Beds were comfortable and there were extra linens for the two extra fold out beds. The toilet was just a short walk from the tent, right beside the parking area, not too bad if you have to go in the middle of the night. The rabbit shearing was a really fun add on and very low pressure. Thank you Cat for making our stay so enjoyable!

We were very happy staying on the deck here and I would definitely recommend it to others interested in the outdoors! There is already a table, chairs, shower, porta potty, and access to electricity on the deck. And with a roof over the deck, it was not necessary to set up my tent for the whole week we were there.

Weekend Trip to Mountain Top Cabins on Private Land
We’re so thankful to Lisa for sharing this very special place with us. We spent the weekend in cabin #2 with our 8 month old and Doug took great care of us—he cooked incredible breakfasts both mornings and made sure we always had a hot cup of coffee to sip on while soaking in the views from the front porch. This was such a tranquil get away. They really thought of everything! (dog treats, cooking oil, twinkle lights, flash lights, paper towels, toilet paper, ect.) The water and the burners in kitchen were so helpful. It was also so nice to have a grill! We were supposed to do sight seeing in Asheville but just decided to come back after our hike because it was so nice. I wish I could stay here for a week!
Be aware hike up to the house is no joke so make sure you have your stuff packed/organized for what you want to take up. I ended up leaving all the non essentials in my car at the lower part of the driveway.

I loved staying here so much! I'm normally a tent camper, so this felt like straight luxury. Everything was so well thought of. It was so considerate of Doug to have water for us there and even a little picnic table to sit and eat at. I enjoyed the views so much I could never bring myself to close the curtains. But I'm sure of you needed to you could use them to block the sun if it gets too warm. There was also an electric fan already there to use which did come in hand even though I did bring a small camp one. My stay was mid August and it was about on the 80s mid day and in the 60s at night. I never felt too hot, but this Texas gal got cold at night. I never found the bugs to be too bad either, but bring big spray if you attract mosquitoes like I do. Overall, my pup and I enjoyed the stay so much and definitely plan on coming back. This place is such a treat.
