Unfortunately, I had to cancel at the last minute due to an illness. Thankfully, Daisy was incredibly gracious and immediately refunded my payment. She didn't have to do that. I will definitely be booking with Daisy in the future so we can experience camping on the farm.

Weekend Trip to Stormbrew Farm

Our first night on our long roadtrip couldn’t have been better! We were greeted by the aforementioned very friendly animals, we sat by the beautiful stream over the hill, we picked a few tulips for the road and bought farm-fresh eggs! Our night was quiet, even on the gravel site near the road. We have a 28’ travel trailer and wouldn’t want anything much longer to go up the hill to turn around. Daisy’s farm is a neat spot!!

8 nights at Dark Ridge Hide Out (Adults Only)

We loved camping here in our 20' travel trailer. Curtis is a fantastic host and we enjoyed talking to him. Every morning we hiked up to the top of the field and played ball with our dog until he was exhausted. Sitting by the creek and listening to the peaceful water was a great way to pass the time. What started out as a short stay turned into an eleven night stay. We are sad to leave this peaceful place and we will return next year for a longer stary. Thanks Curtis we enjoyed our time here.

1 night at TangleWood Creekside Campsites

Blair’s piece of land is a piece of heaven. Everything is so clean and clearly cared for. I stayed in a safari tent solo and felt safe. I’ve been camping in many places all over the country and this is in my top favorites. I will say if you are looking for true seclusion, you’d be able to see other campers (if they’re there) and once in a while you can hear a car go by. But it’s quiet and peaceful and for me, someone who loves being “off grid”, it was wonderful. If I’m ever back in the area I will absolutely 100% return! Thank you Blair for everything.

We stopped by on our way home to Maine in late March .We had a lovely spot up at the top of a field with a fantastic view. There is a nicely mowed path that follows a fence line , which makes for a nice morning walk. There are all kinds of fun things to look at down by the pond including a surprise in the “ old out house “ The date bars that the host gave us were very much appreciated not to mention delicious ! There is a bit of road noise but I suspect once the leaves are on the trees this will be cut down. A very lovely spot to visit.

We had a wonderful weekend camping at campsite 6! It was nicely tucked away giving us plenty of space and privacy. The property and the area is beautiful. Pat and Johnny were amazing hosts, friendly and welcoming. My partner loves Buffalo and getting to feed their Buffalo, Sammy, was a real treat. We hope to come back this summer. Absolutely recommend!

We enjoyed our spot by the river. Other campers not too close, and other than the occasional barking dog, it was quite peaceful. Sandy bottom river, would be great for swimming in warmer weather. Wading was cold at first but warmed up after a few minutes. We did not investigate the bathroom area as we are independent/self contained and it looked like they may have been under construction as the doors were off the hinges. All in all, a great spot for what we needed - a quiet spot to sleep and prepare breakfast. Two nights this trip and will definitely be back if we are in the area again. Emerald Hollow Mine was a short drive away and very fun place to visit.

Our farm is named for its site on the South Toe river and this pristine and mighty river indeed showed us their power during Hurricane Helene. At this time, we will be closed for an indeterminate amount of time. The farm was completely flooded by Hurricane Helene September 27th, 2024. All the greenhouses, barns, and fields were impacted and destroyed. We hope to rebuild and open again some day, but the river is completely different and the riparian camping area is now a 30 foot wall of trees at this time. Rock bottom campground that I am rebuilding after hurricane Helene has 6-8 Campsites right on beautiful Buck creek, a federally protected creek for its water cleanliness and clarity. It is known for its precious gems and minerals. Perfect place for panning . Each campsite comes with its own waterfall fed swimming hole. There is power, water and septic on the property, but not yet to the campsites. There is a small outdoor hot shower and toilet, at the moment, but we are working on a full bathhouse and shower. Also we will soon be running the power and water to each campsite. Great WiFi throughout the campground. If you have a self contained camper or rv , we can fill your tanks with fresh water, and also have a pump out station , so you can still use your bathroom and toilet. The campground is only 3.5 miles from the blue ridge parkway. Within an hour of Asheville, black mountain, swananoa, old fort, Marion, morganton, lenoir, Burnsville, spruce pine, little Switzerland, linville, linville gorge, linville falls, black mountain Crabtree falls, roaring fork falls, cawtaba falls, Tom’s creek falls, and many more. To many hikes to list. Only 9 miles to the nearest city , Marion. Super quiet, beautiful open night sky for stargazing. We are a work in progress, so please excuse some of our construction views. It is a small campground with all 6-8 sites directly creekside with picnic tables and fire rings. So if you are looking for peaceful, beautiful place to camp by crystal clear , cool water to frolic in, this is your place. Your dogs and kids will love it. Dark Ridge Hide Out (Adults Only)

"Adults only" doesn't mean anything other than just "no children", so as to preserve the natural peace and quiet, and assurance that there won't be loud and unruly children on the property. Inquiries and booking requests received after 9: pm may not be answered until the next morning. Dark Ridge Hide Out, is a 20 acre parcel in the Blue Ridge Mountain's on the back side of the Beech Mt Ski Resort in a secluded quiet and safe community with less than a dozen homes in a one mile radius. Away from light and sound pollution. Except for an occasional passing vehicle "and often none at all from 10pm to 6am" all you will hear is the sound of the creek which runs through the lower section by the RV sites, cricket's and frogs at the nearby fish pond and only the light from the moon and star's in the clear mountain sky and fire flies. It is my home place with a tobacco barn and a big combination cattle/tobacco barn built almost entirely just by my Mom and Dad in early 1940"s. My parents and grand parents lived off of the land here and raised cash crops like cabbage, corn and tobacco, we also raised sugar cane and made molasses, we had free range chickens, as many as 50 honey bee hives and over 50 head of cattle, two or three hog's and of course a horse. There was four main fields; two for cow pasture, one meadow to grow hay "now Christmas trees" and the main one on my part where all crops were grown is where the camp sites are. I grew up helping with the crops and other farm chores, one was to go to the pasture and bring the milk cows in and do the milking every day before and after school, feed the hogs and chickens, gather the egg's, let the chickens out in the morning and close the chicken house in the evening to protect them from critters like opossums, raccoons and wildcats. This is where I grew up, my dad grew up and, near where my mother and both of my grandparents grew up. My house was built in 1905 the same year my dad was born. The campsites are on my 20 acre section section of the original 82 acres with the house and barns, the remainder went to my brother but now is out of the family. The section of Elk River with the Compression Falls "45 ft high" and Twisting Falls which is part of Pisgah National Forest is less than two miles from here, and an old logging road going around the mountain above the river for about three miles to another Falls "Elk River Falls, 65 ft high" is a great place to hike or mountain bike. You will be free to explore and hike any part of my property except the house and out building's. The pond's are full of Trout and Blue Gill fish that are like pet's they love little pieces of bread. You can feed the fish but no fishing.

10/9/2024 NOTICE: We had some damage to our road due to Hurricane Helene that made it impassable. It has since been repaired and is opened to traffic. There are still some remaining rough areas, but the road is easily passable by passenger vehicles and RV's up to 28ft. Our site was once part of a much larger farm growing tobacco and raising cattle and other farm animals. The existing tobacco barn was built in the early 1960's. The concrete pad used for RV camping was used to store silage for the cows. The non-potable water source is a mountain spring that has been used on the farm since the 1930's. While many tobacco barns in the area have been torn down for their rusted tin roofing and rustic siding, we have worked to restore the barn and preserve its history.

As a guest you will be offered insane long views and limited exposure to the oldest registered breed of bovine in the world. Our Scottish Highland Cattle are majestic and fit in quite well in the NC mountainside. Located in the Blue Ridge mountains, we have natural water springs popping out, some of which are tapped to drink from. (10.1.23 currently farm springs are not accessible to guests, shatley springs up the road approx 4miles north has a public spring that we highly recommend) If you are looking for a camping spot that is only 5-10 minutes from town (Jefferson NC or the quaint Downtown West Jefferson) but feels like you're in the middle of no where, then we have it! The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 20 minutes away and the New River equally close. Looking Forward: July update. We are currently working on provided an all downhill mountain bike trail from 3600 to 3150ft. This path will be double wide for the most part and wide open at first to soak in the se view. Eden Oaks Vineyard & Campground was a tobacco farm (antique tobacco barn still on property). The house was built in 1910 and has been updated. We purchased it in 2014 and converted it into a vineyard. We have RV sites with 50 amp and 30 amp electric hookups and water, and tents sites. For 2023 our rates are $30/night for RV Sites (50 amp or 30 amp electric hookups and water) and $25/night for Tent Sites. Tent sites do not have electricity or water hookups, but water is available at the well. (Due to inflation, 2024 our rates will be $30/night for RV Sites, $25/night for Tent Sites.) We do not have a dump station, but we do have a Port A John and a list of dump stations nearby. Campfires are allowed unless we have a state issued burning ban. Campers are responsible for controlling and extinguishing fires. Please be extremely careful during dry or drought conditions. Conveniently located one mile from Hwy 421 but remote and peaceful with plenty of room to roam on our 22 acres with grapevines, fruit trees, forest, creeks, fields, goats, Beagle and Jackabee (Beagle/Jack Russell) dogs, cows, chickens, ducks and goats. Also, we have wildlife such as birds, squirrels, groundhogs, deer, raccoons, opossums, etc. We are about 15 miles from Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro (home of the Merle Fest and Apple Festival). Valle View Camp Spot! A flat and private spot. Praise Be! Quiet area of Valle Crucis. It is just 2 miles from the original Mast General Store. Larger units must back in carefully between the guard rail and the ditch. The lot had some damage from Helene. This is a parking lot of an old church and sits by two small creeks. Maximum stays are up to 6 nights. No water, no septic. No generators are allowed. Large concrete pad/parking lot for RV and an extra car or two. This is a campsite only, an RV is not included. We have electricity but no water or septic. In the spring, summer, and fall - We have a toilet and hand-washing sink inside the building that you may use if you select this as an "add-on". A code to enter the building will be sent if you add this feature. This site does not have potable water and does not have a shower. The closest public bathrooms are at Valle Crucis Community Park. Mountain Dog Coffee and Holloway Corner Kitchen are private, but good places to start your day with coffee and/or food. Please respect our neighbors by limiting noise. This lot is private, but you may see or hear the neighbors. Dogs must always be on a leash when outside your RV or car. There are no garbage cans or trash pick-up; pack it out, please. The trash/convenience center is about 2 miles away on 194 for you to take your garbage. We DO NOT advise taking Clarks Creek Rd. from 105 to get to this location. You must travel to Clarks Creek through Valle Crucis via 194. You must also detach any trailer or towed items a mile or so before the camp spot and before the switchbacks. Please view the map and be comfortable with travel to our campsite. There are sections of the road with no shoulder and pit holes due to current construction/road work. There is very limited cellular service in this area. WiFi & WiFi calling should work fine. --- We have a 50 AMP Hookup NO water NO septic. If you have 2 cars, trucks or RVs in the same group you may add them on as another unit. Grandfather Mountain Campground on 105 allows non-guests to use their dump station for a fee. The trash/convenience center is about 2 miles away on 194 for you to take your garbage. Take the trash there before hooking up and leaving as that section of 194 has a large truck warning.

Downtown offers an experience in walking back in time with a small town feel that is unmatched. Delicious eating experiences are available from country cooking to fine dining. Camp Karuga is also perfectly situated for traveling to Boone, Blowing Rock or Banner Elk without the exhaustion of a long drive. There is so many wonderful experiences around Camp Karuga that it will be hard to choose from. At Camp Karuga, you can be as active as you want, or just kick back and enjoy the view while your ears relax to the sound of our beautiful creek.
