The Retreat at Mayberry Creek is 4.5 acres and the site is perched on a rock bluff overlooking Mayberry Creek in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. We have been traveling the country full time for almost 4 years and were in need of a homebase. The Retreat had everything we needed, minus the house. Over the past few years, The Retreat has been a peaceful, relaxing sanctuary for us, no matter the season. We wanted to share The Retreat with other outdoor enthusiasts, because it’s just that magical.Onsite we have hiking/mountain biking trails, multiple fire pits, and a deck overlooking Mayberry Creek which runs through the center of the property. You can enjoy splashing around and exploring the creek or just relax and listen to the water cascade down the rocks.
Located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, you will only be a short drive to Rocky Knob Recreation Area for sightseeing/hiking, Chateau Morrisette Winery and Restaurant, and Mount Airy for a trip back in history.

My wife, our 9-year-old, and I loaded up the camper and set off westward from Myrtle Beach, aiming for adventure without a specific destination. While browsing the Hicamper website, we discovered this remarkable location. Having never visited Virginia before, this trip marked our first genuine family camping experience, and what awaited us upon arrival was truly unforgettable.
The drive was straightforward, and the site was easy to locate, thanks to clear signage. Upon arrival, we found two gated entrances that led us down a well-maintained gravel road to a sheltered area where we parked our camper. Since we got there late and after dark, we couldn’t see the landscape’s true beauty until morning; nevertheless, even in the dark, setting up was a breeze. The expansive covered carport was attractively decorated with string lights, enhancing visibility. We discovered the water, sewer, and electricity connections were conveniently just an arm’s length from our camper, allowing us to get everything up and running in no time.
After settling in, we built a fire in the pit located down the first set of stairs and enjoyed a few serene hours of solitude before retiring for the night. When dawn broke, we were eager to explore the property, and what we found was a breathtaking landscape unlike anything we had encountered before.
