Weekend Trip to Appalachian Pond Campground

Although I only stayed one evening, I absolutely loved my spot at site #3 (actually #4). Motorcycle camping, coming from Florida this was just beautiful site on a hillside with a small creek below and hsd a sunset view of the mountains. John was able to go out and pick up some firewood for me, which was amazing. Extremely friendly and wholesome people, I would be happy to visit again. The gravel road up to the tent sites is a bit steep, but I had no issue traversing it on my street bike with saddle bags in the dry environment. Thank you again, guys!

We had a great time staying at the glamping dome! The farm and mountain views were beautiful, especially while enjoying our morning coffee. At night, we loved sitting by the fire and relaxing in the dome. The outdoor shower was a fun touch, and being in nature was so nice. Our host was very kind and made sure we had everything we needed. Our dog also had a fantastic time! We really loved our stay and would love to come back in the future. Highly recommend!

Angela and Jesse have built such a beautiful home and sanctuary for some amazing animals, including the sweetest duo Moonpie and Ziggy. Their property is a paradise for dogs, with rolling hills, numerous trails, and a lovely river for splashing and swimming. The tiny house itself was better appointed than 80% of the hotels we’ve stayed in. Just pack food and clothes - they’ve got the rest covered! Make sure you leave time in the itinerary to check out their restaurant Happy Valley Filling Station, for some delicious wood fired pizza, extensive beer menu, and the friendliest community vibes. We can’t wait to be back!

Amazing place! Exceeded our expectations, they had anything you could need covered. Our dog loved playing with the host pups, there is an amazing water fall hike right outside the door, sauna was the best add on, just all around perfect. Plus great wifi, comfy beds, cozy wood stove, games book & puzzles so you can be as connected or disconnected as you like. We will definitely be back, 10/10!

I camped in my car at inner Wolf retreat. It was a very cold night, but the amenities of having a clean restroom, drinkable water etc made my stay very comfortable! I only stayed one night, while I was on a mini road trip but a longer stay would have been comfortable as well, there's an indoor kitchen area with everything one would need which was a really nice touch! And I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the sound healing session! It was fantastic!

10/10 would recommend! It’s nice to have just about everything you need provided. We stayed in February so it was cold and rainy but the yurt kept us dry. The heated blanket was a lifesaver and we brought our own mini-Buddy heater. Brianna was a great host — super responsive and helpful. Highlights: *Generator that powers just about anything you need inside the yurt. *Kayak was comfortable and the lake was beautiful to explore. *Fonta Flora trail (next to yurt) was well maintained and fun to trail run on. I wish it didn’t rain all weekend so we could’ve enjoyed this place more. I hope we will be back!

Inner Wolf is a special place. The A-Frame room was very accommodating and the bathroom/shower room was a luxury, but the barn space for sound baths was the real treat. Also access to a full kitchen for meals was an extra treat. A special place we plan to visit again. Thank you, Dawn!

The views are hypnotic and look down and out over the continental divide. Good morning sun and sunsets can be seen in the same spot. Your car is parked within feet of your deck so Car Campers and experienced campers can enjoy. Designed with campers and dogs in mind. The deck is large (384 square feet) with a tin roof. Some roofs are full size, some 2/3rds and some 1/3rd, depending on what one wants for tent size or sun exposure. (See pictures of each site/deck) Each deck has sun and rain curtains for helping keep comfortable in normal weather. Dogs enjoy a two gate system so quests and dogs can be leash free and away from the road. All dog owners know to pick up after their pets. The human Private Porta John is cleaned weekly. Lights and electrical is 110V (3 prongs) for YOUR coffee pots, electric grills, mattress inflators, crockpots, electric blankets fans, etc. I do not provide any electrical appliances, other than counter area lighting and low level string lights so one can see the night sky. Many of my campers will "Pay it Forward" and leave coffee pots, hot plates, fans and such, so count yourself lucky to find a deck with them. I provide chairs, 5 gallons of fresh water in containers, fickle solar shower and pop up changing room along with an assortment of camping supplies from dog bowls to antimicrobial wipes. I provide various size garbage bags to manage your garbage. Your parking area is next to the deck. Black Mountain’s tasty restaurants are 4 miles away and All Trails is a great app for finding trails suited for your interest. Be respectful to the place and please be friendly to the people you meet. Learn more about this land: Private Glamping Decks with a view that pictures do not do justice. Private decks on a dead-end gravel road mean hopefully the sounds will only be of nature. The conveniences of electricity, porta john, water, chairs, table, roof, cleaning supplies, rain curtains, and astounding views have my Glampers coming back often. Designed with Dogs in mind with a two-gate system and no need for a leash when on the deck. Obnoxious, barking dogs are not welcome, so bring only controlled and well socialized dogs. Help me keep it dog friendly. Never block the road with a park car.

We hope that I40 will open back up here soon with two lanes going in either direction, but as of now we do not know when that will be (though we hope soon!). We will post updates on our webpage and Facebook as we learn more and look forward to seeing everyone's smiling faces during the 2025 hiking season! We are first-come, first-served in Northbound thru hiking season (March 15 through May 15), however, reservations are available at all other times of the year by contacting us via phone 4234870014 (Call) or 4236080149 (Call or Text). Relics remain, with zip lines and bridges still running through the tree canopy and an old climbing wall. These aren’t currently in use, and cannot be explored, but they add a wonderland-like quality to the land. Other features also remain that can be used: a sliding rock waterfall which is a short hike within the campground property, moderate trails for hiking, and mountain biking running from the waterfall through the back of the property (these trails are mountainous, so please enter at your own risk), fruit trees, blueberry bushes, small trout pond, a playground, an open meadow for star gazing, and our friendly neighborhood duck, Howard. (He hangs by the pond and accepts treats!) You are welcome to explore all these features, but please be mindful and respectful of residents and guests, do not enter or explore the greenhouses or gardens, and remain aware that this is mountainous terrain with inherent risks.This is a rustic property in the forest, centrally located to all the area has to offer. Privately run, we offer a variety of lodging options:- Seasonal and daily camping with full hook up RV sites- Popup sites, tent sites with water and electric- Group tent site with pavilion- Primitive tent sites- Primitive cabins (no electricity/water)- Lodge with four bedrooms/bath- Cabin with a two-bedroom/bath among the trees- Cabin with a one-bedroom/bath pond side- Studio apartments. Four available. Includes one bedroom/bath Campsites include a fire pit, picnic table, and electric/water/sewer depending on the site. There are 5 tent sites boasting elevated tent platforms nestled against the mountain. Sites are generally mossy, treed (think hammocks!), and have gravel parking. There are 3 his and her bathhouses on the property with the largest within walking distance of the tent loop, with 2 toilets and 3 stall showers each.This corner of the world has so much to offer and we are close, but just far away enough from it all. Boone is only 50 minutes away, and Asheville 1 hr. 20 minutes.Off HWY 19-E is Spears Country Store, about 5 minutes from here, where you can get basic supplies, propane, and gas. We can also provide firewood for a fee. Ingles grocery stores in both Newland and Spruce Pine are just 20 minutes away. In Spruce Pine you will also find a Walmart, historic downtown with many shops and restaurants. Be aware cell service can be spotty in the area depending on your carrier. WIFI is offered, but not guaranteed due to the mountainous terrain.
