I can not find the words to fully capture the beauty and magic of this stay at Gnome Yome. We absolutely loved every second of it. While it had everything we could possibly need, we embraced the way nature and the views brought us connection and disconnection from all distractions. We will definitely be back!

“The Gnome Home Getaway” Surprised? That’s putting it lightly. To celebrate 24 years of wedding bliss, I kidnapped my wife for a secret getaway. She had no idea where we were going—just along for the ride with a suspicious side-eye and a trusting heart. Everything was going smoothly…until we got to the gate. After a minor detour (aka struggling to open the gate), we were finally on our way—creeping down a winding mountain gravel road. With every twist and turn, the questions started flying. “Where are we?” “Where are we going?” “Are you serious right now?” And then—we saw them. Fairy lights. I shouted, “This is it, babe! The Gnome Home!” Her reaction? Let’s just say… she was not yet enchanted. “It’s dark!” “Are those fairy lights or fireflies?” “I think this is the right one,” I added confidently. “The right what???” The fairy lights had faded and we couldn’t see a thing down the trail. With only our phone lights guiding us, we ventured ahead. That’s when she saw it. “Outhouse. RAIN SHOWER?! Are you serious??” Let’s just say the shock was real. But once she got past it, everything turned magical. Well—except for Scram, the giant mouse who had made the grill his summer home. (She only laughed after jumping off the bed.) But despite the rustic quirks and unexpected visitors, we had a blast. We laughed until our sides hurt. We made memories we’ll never forget. We lived the adventure—together. Here’s to 24 years of love, laughter, and taking the road less paved—

Weekend Trip to Outercamp, Blue Ridge Falls Retreat

It's been a week since my stay at Wild Fairies, and I've thought about it every day. It was exactly the peaceful break I needed after a hectic few weeks. Truly a serene place to get away and spend some quiet time with nature. I even saw a bear just past the shower! Plus a few turkey and plenty of birds enjoying the Spring weather. The yurt was just gorgeous. Everything I could've possibly needed was provided. I was kicking myself for leaving my binoculars at home, but there was even a pair in one of the drawers! The bed was comfortable after a day out on the trails, and the outdoor kitchen area was perfect for cooking up meals to enjoy on the porch. Thank you, Evan, for making and sharing such a lovely place!

4 nights at Roamstead

We loved staying at Roamstead. We stayed in a yurt which was fantastic. It was warm and cozy (low in the 20's at night), and perfectly decorated. The bed had an amazingly comfortable mattress. Ample outlets for charging phones, coffee pot, etc. There were easy well lit paths to bathhouse and lodge. The staff was amazing! They're fabulous baristas as well. We truly felt at home away from home. We certainly hope our travels lead us back in the future. We have absolutely no complaints.

Weekend Trip to Roamstead

The area where the yurts are is at the very back of the property, so it’s secluded and beside a stream. You can sleep with the sounds of a babbling brook & it’s heavenly! The property is well maintained, except for the lawn behind the main lodge…that one, you cant step in an area of the lawn without stepping on to animal scat (idk if it’s dog or other animals, but it’s the only area where every inch is covered with it, everywhere else? Clean.). The bathhouses & toilets are very vlean with very warm/hot showers & the hair dryers actually work & are full sized ones. Guests were all respectful of the quiet times & the staff were friendly & helpful. Overall, I highly recommend it & it definitely is kid friendly, with a well maintained playground my kid loved! Gburg & PF are 30-45 min away, so if you get tired of the peace & quiet, you can easily drive there for more touristy stuff. We’ll be back for sure!

Marion is a bigger town with mostly anything you could be looking for and is about 20mins away down the mountain. If you want some city buzz, head to vibrant Asheville under an hour away, where you'll find endless art, restaurants, breweries, live music, and more. Live closer to the earth, the mountains, the curious creatures, and return home with some gratitude!

Nestled up to the Great Smoky Mountains National park, this property is unique in everything it offers. Riverside on the renowned fly fishing river, the Tuckasegee River, or ridge top on Cullowhee Mountain, elevation 3850'. There are improved camp sites, a yurt, or free range camping and hiking. The fall views are spectacular, wherever you decide to locate. We implement " Leave no trace" rules and welcome respectful 4wd access to our ridge top. We are currently endeavoring agroforestry techniques to respectfully harvest the bounties of the woodlands in our Living Mountain Farms online store.
