Evan’s place is perfect. It represents Hipcamp and what it was and is supposed to be. A unique glamping experience with everything you need. It’s also near the parkway so the stars and views are amazing

I can’t say enough about how great this place is! The property is beautiful, and also secure. I felt safe being there. The different sites are far enough from one another that you don’t feel like you’re there with anyone or on top of each other. The yurt itself (I stayed in the Gnome) was clean and well kept, had every thing I could need or want. It was comfortable and felt very cozy on the chilly nights. Sitting on the deck for breakfast and dinner was perfect. The view is beyond words! Having utensils, propane heat, electricity for basics like charging electronics, and everything I need for cooking was perfect. Add on top of that the little additional things like games, towels, a little rechargeable and portable lamp, and cleaning supplies, this place was perfect! Even if I never left the property it was an amazing vacation with great hiking and a beautiful serene escape. My dogs both loved being able to explore off leash and I never felt like they were unsafe. I’m already planning my trip back next fall with my entire family!

I would definitely recommend Destination Outdoors! Matt is an awesome host, and he has created an amazing spot. The yurts are super comfy and the bathroom is great!

We had a magical night at the yurt. It rained but we were warm and cozy the whole time. Many little extras made for a lovely stay. We fell in love here and this place will always be special for us. Thank you David!!

The cutest little spot with lots of privacy, great views, and adjacent to lots of hiking, food, etc. we are a family of four with two kids under three and felt safe and comfortable here. The host was so sweet and kind by driving us down to our car at the entry to their driveway when we got a flat tire. Awesome site, we hope to come again!

3 nights at Forestside Yurt Near Marshall
If you are looking for peace, quiet and complete solitude with the comforts of home then I highly recommend Kathryn’s yurt. It was perfect for my teenage son and me to enjoy our trip to Asheville and the surrounding area for hiking and zip lining. To find the yurt, you will drive up a steep gravel driveway and about a quarter of a mile to a pull-off space to park the car. The yurt is just a few steps down a well-lit pathway. Inside the yurt is a kitchenette with a drip coffee maker, microwave, toaster, mini fridge and tiny dishwasher. There were plenty of plates, cups and utensils to share. We brought a folding table and camping stove to set up outside for cooking, which was perfect. There’s also a fire ring with chairs in the back of the yurt. There are a few grocery stores a short drive away. The beds were comfortable enough and the split heating/ac unit kept it nice and cozy. This yurt is exactly what I was looking for. We did not see or hear anyone else the whole time we were there. The views are just stunning and you can hear the rushing river from below. I will definitely stay again the next time I’m in the area.

One of our favorite HipCamp’s to date, Evan and friends are running a legit campground/ retreat here, and it’s really really wonderful! We stayed in the yurt with 2 beds, ‘Wild Fairies Do Yoga’ and found it peaceful and quiet, away from people/other sites and beautifully immersed in the WNC woods. The convenience of showing up and not having to set up a tent/beds but still having the camping experience (campfires, quiet, off-grid) was perfect for us after a long week. The beds were also SO comfortable!!! We did bring some firewood with us because as noted the firewood at the site (and bundles sold by the host) were quite damp. We also brought drinking water and were glad we did because though the site provided jugs of water filled from the nearby spring (and instructions on how to refill), the instructions said it was for cooking and hand/dish washing and we did note that there was some particulate in it (we used it to make coffee, though, without an issue!). We enjoyed all the hikes on site, the waterfall hike and hike up to the peak view, though the latter was less clearly marked (an adventure!). Our kids loved playing the little pool below the waterfall. Evan was so helpful with planning and has kept up an extensive website for his outdoor business (OuterCamp) which has many local hike suggestions, be sure to check that out, there are several in the area of which we enjoyed a few! We will definitely be back, it was just the camping trip we hoped for without the setup work!

I loved staying at the “fairy morvana” yurt! 🧚Really special and beautiful place. It’s set up so nicely with all the camping essentials as well so you don’t have to spend days packing beforehand. Hoping to make this a family tradition!

We enjoyed our stay in the yurt on Matt’s land. We walked down to the river and up to a view at 3000+ ft-all on the property. Beautiful! ! The bathroom is clean. The yurt was comfortable. There was plenty of room for tents on the site. Matt was responsive, kind and helpful. Will definitely be back!

This was the perfect setup for a long weekend getaway from Charlotte! The Yurt and the property were fantastic and well stocked. The location couldn't be better, with access to the parkway and numerous trails and waterfalls. We'll definitely be back.

Evan was an incredibly helpful and attentive host, making sure we had everything we needed for a smooth and enjoyable stay. From arrival to checkout, communication was clear and thoughtful, which really made the experience stress-free.
The space itself is exactly as described — beautiful, peaceful, and set up with care. Photos don’t capture how refreshing it feels to actually be there. The highlight for us was the private waterfall, which felt like our own little hidden escape.
This is the kind of place where you can unplug, breathe deeply, and really take in the surroundings. We left feeling recharged and grateful. Highly recommend both the retreat itself and Evan as a host.

This place was amazing! The yurt is tucked away in the woods and it was magical spending time on the porch or indoors listening to the stream and woodland creatures. I loved cooking breakfast in the morning and seeing the silhouette of the mountains through the trees. Would absolutely stay there again
