As you enter the property our donkey and friendly goats (4 babies were born in July) love to eat treats from your hand. Sebastian Springs Retreat

We bought this amazing 2.5 acre wooded land with a spring and creek on it from our friends who already had a huge healing impact on the land. This land is quiet, it is in a neighborhood and back up to a cow farm.  Everyone keeps to themselfs,  we have three other rentals on the property to share community areas.

Babbling Brook Campground

Before the Kerr Scott Reservoir was built, in the 40's and 50's, this neighborhood was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Public buses  came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic. 

While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come,  rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.'  

When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So, come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek.  Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends. 

Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind. 

LOCAL ACTIVITIES:

To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away. 

15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking.

Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away.

Heading east, you can find several fine wineries andvineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town.

About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday.

To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public.

To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones  you find in the nearby river. 

There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages.

Merlefest, the last weekend of April, is a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town.

The Bird's Nest Over Peaceful Pastures safari tent has a queen sleigh bed, a futon/couch, an armoire, and a small table with chairs.  Many amenities.

 The first level of the Happy Hillside includes a deck, a small picnic table, and the two hammocks (included). Below this level is the outhouse, and additional seating. The tent in the photo belongs to a guest. It is not included. We have a smaller tent you can rent as an extra.

The Cozy Cottage Farm Stay, come and stay awhile. Spend time with the goats and donkeys. Sit around the fire. 

Book early for autumn colors. They usually peak mid to late October. This is my driveway.

Gather together with friends. Cook over the campfire. Laugh a lot. Listen to the creek pass by.

The Sacred Path

This land was purchased by my parents over 55 years ago. At the time is was a 48 acre farm. It belonged to a bootlegger. I was just seven years old when we came to live here on the "farm" as I have called it all my life. It was loved by family until my fathers' passing 5 years ago. My husband Terry and I came back to the farm to be with my father in his final years. Terry and I have continued  loving and caring for the land. This property backs to a 200 acre nature reserve and 600 acres of natural forest. It has a 30 foot creekside overlook and a beachfront at the creek. The is lots of nature to be heard and seen. We have resident foxes, a blue heron that frequents the pond, egrets, kingfisher, a bobcat, raccoons, crows, birds, fireflies, and (bear were seen last fall). It is beautiful land with rolling hills and horses grazing in the pastures.Learn more about this land:Come and pitch your tent in our park like setting by the pond and springs. This is a very special and sacred ground, if you allow it, you will feel the energy shift the moment you step foot onto the grounds. we welcome you to come stay, relax and visit or just retreat into meditation. Relaxing farm Retreat

This is a working farm.  The heart of the farm are our Scottish Highlander cattle! Guest love to sit for hours watching the cattle graze and are amazed at how docile the cattle are. We also raise goats and have horses, donkeys, sheep, chickens and peafowl that you may see roaming around the farm. We love sharing our farm and farm animals with other people. Most animals are in their pasture and guest are welcome to enjoy the animals from outside the fences. 
We think you will love the beauty of the farm as much as we do. We love all animals and we welcome your pets but we ask that they remain on leash to protect the farms animals and to protect your pets.  We have seen coyotes, fox and hawks at times.
