Hickory Hill camp is absolutely gorgeous! This beautiful spot is surrounded by nature and trees. Chris was extremely welcoming and accommodating! He even sold us perfectly dry firewood! A friendly dog named Max came by for a visit as well. We will definitely go back and camp at this supreme spot again. It was our puppies first camping trip and we will always remember it. ❤️

This was a great little camping spot, and the bonus for me was the composting toilet and the sweet cat who hung out at the site. Chris gave good directions - between that and following the GPS coordinates, it was easy to find.

I chose this spot hoping for more private location and it mostly met expectations! You do drive past one house to get to the camp site and there is another through the trees on top of the hill but only two vehicles drove by and we didn’t see anyone else. You can hear a stream running down below. The outhouse is clean and convenient. We were able to collect a decent amount of firewood in the area close to the site.

Site had beautiful mountain views through leafless trees. The site is located up a steep and bumpy gravel drive. It is not too well marked but if you keep going past the second gate and past the tiny homes on the right, you will come to a slight left bend in the road and the site is on your right. The outhouse seems slightly precariously placed but is stable. No contact with host at all.

Great for what we needed. We fit our 8-person tent (for 5 people). It was nice to have a composting toilet, picnic table, and fireput right there by the car. Only thing is the toilet door wouldn't quite shut all the way but that didn't bother us. Thanks!

Fantastic view and just the right size for a tent; I thought it was too narrow for our six-person sized tent but with the door facing the rising side of the hill it felt cozy. The only thing I’d suggest is adding some directions for the composting toilet to make sure it functions right (although maybe you’re just supposed to do nothing). Even that was a nice amenity - enclosed, clean, comfortable seat if you need it. We’d definitely recommend this place.

Such an amazing experience! Our host Chris was wonderful, upon arrival we were greeted and guided to our camping spot. He even went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed considering there were going to be a few chilly nights ahead of us. The property was beautiful, it was a quiet and peaceful environment which we really enjoyed. You’re surrounded by tall trees covered with some of the most gorgeous colors during this time of year. We really got to connect with the nature, and enjoyed every minute we spent at Hickory Hill Camp. I would definitely recommend staying here if you plan on camping in the area in the near future!

Great, pretty little spot in the woods! We booked just a handful of hours before arriving, but Chris still made sure the outhouse was clean and ready. It was the cleanest, nicest outhouse I’ve probably ever seen. The whole site was very clean and lovely.

As advertised, picnic table a huge plus. Very quiet. Nice, soft, mulched tent pad. Perfect fire ring. Not so remote, though, as it looks over the properties below. Great to have a toilet. No adventuring by foot from site, but all of BRPkwy is only a quick drive away.

This was a nice little site. Feels private despite being in somewhat of a neighborhood. The toilet was great to have and no smell at all. It’s just a 15 minute drive to hiking in Pisgah. Great stay!

Great spot! They had flatten out the camping area and had put some sort of wooden mulch in the ground to make it softer and flatter for tents. We saw SO MANY firefights around us! The spot is inside their personal grounds and you have to cross a fence to get to it. It was impecable clean, including the bathroom. Chris was very respondent and offered to be available if we needed him. Again, great camping spot, beautiful trees that covered us all around.

Just a short drive from Big Ivy trailhead, in a peaceful, secluded perch in the forest, Hickory Hill is a minimalist’s choice for a low-key, relaxed Hipcamp.
During our short stay at Hickory Hill, My husband and I pitched a tent between the fire-ring and the outhouse. The camping plot was well-maintained, clean, and easily accessed from the parking area. The outhouse looked newly constructed, and was in great condition.
The grounds of Hickory Hill are cozy, but perfectly adequate to accommodate at least one large tent, or two smaller tents. The sound of the stream gurgling below is heard as you prepare a meal on the picnic table, or repose in your bivouacked lodging.
Up at Hickory Hill, you are surrounded by trees. Though, in winter, it appears that a modest mountain view may become visible as the leaves fall away.
The host of the Hipcamp, Chris, is a very nice and personable guy. My husband and I had a wonderfully pleasant conversation with him. He’s exactly the kind of person you’d want to have as a Hipcamp host. As a long-time resident of the area, he could highlight nearby attractions
and points of interest that shouldn’t be missed.
For a quiet location, in a simple space, Hickory Hill makes good sense. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Thank you for your genuine hospitality, Chris. It was a pleasure meeting you!

Lovely location ! The camp site was private and secluded among the forest trees . I loved the feeling of peace and quiet at the camp.
Keep in mind the road is gravel and a bit steep but I managed fine with my 2 wheel drive car.
The host , Chris , was friendly and knowledgeable of the area .
We definitely recommend this camp as a nice place to stay in the Asheville area !
