1 night at Mountain Homestead

Such a great stay that we added an extra night! The perfect blend of on site amenities like a propane cook top and water to wash up, and time in nature. Enjoyed walking around the property and the sound of the creek all night. Will probably book another stay here in the fall, I'm sure it's beautiful.

The owner was very nice & informative of all the amenities provided. Firewood was plentiful & made for great fires, having a bathroom & shower was a nice amenity to have when you normally don’t get those. She also gave me directions of how to navigate to certain spots in the area. All the animals were friendly & caused no issue. Highly recommend this place & I would stay again for sure.

Our family loved camping at this site! Andrew was extremely welcoming and helpful. He kept us well stocked with firewood. Our two boys loved when he came by and let them help him feed the trout in the stream. The stream itself and the surrounding area were beautiful. The stream was chocked full of trout and our little boy caught his first rainbow! I couldn’t recommend staying here enough. From how beautiful the site is to how awesome of a guy Andrew is, do not hesitate to camp here!

This was our first Hipcamp experience, and we were blown away by this site. The privacy alone was worth every penny. But then you add in the amenities, and our experience was brought to the next level. Everything was as pictured, and our only surprise was how dry the provided firewood was for our campfire after a dip in the hot tub. We can't wait to come back.

Hosts are super helpful, efficient, professional and friendly. Property is well kept, clean, welcoming, and in nice area. Adorable chickens are roaming quietly day and night, and I loved that. Bathroom and shower are clean and comfortable. Game room is a plus. The camp is pleasantly quiet, and close to the SMNP sites./hikes. I will definitely go back. I recommend Conley’ s Place!

I loved being able to camp next to a babbling brook with plenty of room for my campsite. We weren't on top of each other which was very nice. Everything was very very clean especially the facilities containing the showers. And I mean very clean!

The drive to was gorgeous and once you get off the black top it’s an adventure, gravel road leading to sites were easy to navigate if you’re going mountain side sites you’ll definitely want AWD or 4WD. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, spacious and enough room to roam around. Andrew takes very good care of the property keeping it all clean and cut. Had a nice four night get away and already planning the next trip up there.

This is an amazing family friendly campground. The staff are super helpful, the bathrooms are clean, and there is garbage disposal available. I bought firewood from the check in office, snd slept in my hammock. There are three off leash (but contained) dogs that live across the street and they barked from the yard A LOT.

We loved this space, and the other two spots looked great also for different reasons. Our space was very peaceful, felt very secluded, and was generally very quiet. Lots of trails around to explore, and the bathhouse was very clean. Clayton was very responsive and helpful. We look forward to returning soon.

In 2015 he was joined by Sofi, originally from Sweden and together they have three daughters. Together they manage a botanically interesting hobby hill farm and are happy to host travelers and seekers in their cabins. Hilltop was a joint project that James built in 2012 with a talented woodworker and friend in 6 months. We have maintained the original vibe of the place, rustic simplicity and elegance a notch or two above glamping, well-described by the zen koan, "chop wood, carry water" Orchard House was built entirely by James from the block up to the roof, averaging 1 hour/day for 3 years or 1,000 hours. Some of the Hilltop photos are a bit dated, we have a more private outhouse behind the cabin, and have made a few improvements here and there. Reach out anytime for any reason. We love hosting and nearly everyone enjoys their stay.

The site's first appeal is the amazing view of Bull Mountain Ridge. Beautiful all year long, but particularly in late October when the leaves are in their richest colors. The site is roomy for small to mid-sized RVs and offers a private water hook-up, 30 amp, and 20 amp power outlets. It feels private and tucked away, but is very accessible to all of what the Asheville area has to offer. Downtown is a 15 minute drive; ride services and shuttles are both easy to secure and quite affordable. Additional parking is available for a fee. The backdrop of the site is forested and easy to relax in - the understory is maintained for guest use, providing cooling shade with a stunning view. I usually try to say hello to folks and make sure they get settled in alright, but let me know if you'd prefer just to come in and have privacy. Don't feel the need to come to the house unless you can't get a hold of me via text and you need assistance. Once you are at the campground you won't want to leave the beauty of the creek! Strong Wifi is available at all sites. Network password will be provided before arrival. Property History: Coweeta Creek Campground WAS a 20 site, thriving, family/church oriented campground from the 1970's that was later sold, then neglected. It’s a kinda bumpy mountain road to get there but it’s also like driving through an enchanted forest. The secluded location, peaceful and breathtaking views make this place a must-see adventure.

There's a lot of breakable stuff, tempting treehouses (that might be occupied by other guests!), sites that are within earshot of each other, and hazards that aren't a good fit for kids. THE NEIGHBORHOOD The campground is located in the "Emma" area of Asheville. Also known as "Wild Wild West Asheville" (to distinguish it from regular West Asheville which is about 5 minutes' drive away), this is the last bastion of non-gentrified Asheville. Emma is completely un-zoned, so you get an interesting mixture of mostly residential and agricultural properties that scatter the area. The campground itself is tucked away in a 2-acre wooded valley. We're about 10-15 minutes' drive away from downtown Asheville and a $12-$15 Uber ride. Unfortunately, public transportation is not very accessible from the campground. WHAT'S NEARBY? - There are approximately a bajillion breweries in Asheville, many of which are within 5-15 minutes away. - Downtown Asheville (~10-15 minutes), West Asheville (~5-10 minutes) and the River Arts District (~5 minutes) are full of city life fun - amazing restaurants, live music, shopping, art galleries and did we mention breweries? -So much hiking! Choose your own adventure - waterfalls, mountain-top views, fog-drenched valleys, rambling rivers. There are some trails about 20 minutes away, but to get to the good stuff, you'll drive 40-90+ minutes. - White water rafting ~60-90 minutes away - Tubing down the French Broad River is the ultimate way to chill out in the sun. French Broad Outfitters, Zen Tubing and Lazy Otter are some companies that can take care of all the details for you. These are all 10-20 minutes away. OUR HISTORY We discovered this property in 2017, and quite by chance! We had finished working a seasonal job in Colorado and were on our way out to the coast to look into starting our own business. We happened to come through Asheville and casually stumbled across this property. Long-story-short, we put in a bid on the property. It was accepted, and now we have a real fixer-upper on our hands! Here's some history on the property as reported by the previous owners: The road you park on was the old county road, a long, long time ago. The couple who sold us the property is elderly, and the blue house you pass on the left on the way to park was where the wife grew up. In fact, that enormous pine tree on your right as you come up the road was the old lady's Christmas tree as a child. The jiu-jitsu gym used to be an auction house. Then it was used as a dance hall. Then it became a cabinet-making space and finally a timber frame-making space. Over the past year we've converted it into a jiu-jitsu gym, although you can still see plenty of "upcycled" remnants of previous uses, all around the gym. The campground area itself was slated to be turned into a trailer park. You can tell that the area was partially graded at one point or another. Thanks to that initiative, we have some convenient paths all around! They decided not to follow through on setting up trailer pads since it was more money than they had bargained for. After that, the space was used as a black-market dump! Luckily the city shut it down, and after two spring seasons of cleaning up back there, we're left with what you see! We're going to continue to pour our hearts, souls, creativity and probably more than just a little money into making "The Baying Hound Campground" a fun place to crash for a couple days while taking in all that is Asheville. Checking in before 5 pm is requested. Later times may be available with prior arrangements. Our farm is very dark and navigating at night is difficult.
