Neal Creek Primitive camping by the creek is located on private property. The two large campsites are approximately 300 feet apart and are located right beside the running creek. Our second New camping site "Back Forty Camping" is located on our adjacent horse farm property, just across from Neal Creek camping! Plenty of shaded area's. Learn more about this land: We are only 1/2 a mile from the Interstate 85. So bring your tents, campers or your small RV and come and setup down by the babbling Neal creek, or rent our private covered camper located on the horse farm. Build a nice fire in the fire pits. The firewood is provided, just bring your fire starter. The Neal Creek campsites are semi-wooded areas with plenty of shade. They are very large private, peaceful and quiet sites. The Back Forty Camping is semi-wooded area with plenty of privacy!  View the stars at night, relax during the day or if you are into biking or hiking, go to the Overmountain Victory trail located about 15 minutes away and enjoy the 6.7 mile loop around Lake Whelchel right off I-85. My property consists of a ridge running east to west with the access road running along the south border.  the land slopes up to the ridge for about 300 feet, and then down to the river for about 800 feet.  The south side of the ridge has a small pond close to the road.  The rest is pasture, and an orchard and small vineyard.  The north side of the ridge is old growth timber, and shady and cool.  The two cabins are along the river.  One is perched on a ridge over looking the river and the other is right on the river.  The swimming hole is 30 feet from the lower cabin.  There is room for a couple campsites along the river also.  The south side of the ridge was a cotton farm decades ago, but was covered in timber when I bought it 12 years ago.  The north side has been in timber for the known history of the property.

This property is 180 acres of woods and mountains with streams and ponds. Beautiful settings. If you like hiking in the mountains this will definitely hit the spot. You can fish in the ponds it has blue gills and catfish. I also added grass carp there as part of weed management. This used to be an abandoned farm which I want to bring back to life. The site offers three luxury large Safari Style Tents that are all separate and private. This is not a KOA style of camping where everyone is on top of each other. All tents are far away from each other to provide privacy and freedom of going Wild (still remaining civilized in your manners and careful attitude to Nature around you). Tent 1 is in the Forrest itself and it is pretty cool and serene. Tent 2 is on the top of a rocky hill overlooking the forest. Tent 3 is the most remote and closest to the ponds. It has most of the open space around it, and can be a great place for parties. We are working on making the sites and the area more comfortable, but I do not want to make it a manicured park. I want it to remain wild and still offer comfortable stay. The farm is work in progress. The closest town - Lenoir is about 12 miles away . Closest Grocery store (Dollar General) - about 3 miles away. Closest Gas station - 2 miles away. Professional Tennis court, Basketball court and large kids playground are in a public park within - 5 minute drive. Lenoir has restaurants, shopping, etc. Hickory is a larger town about 25 minutes drive. Hickory Lake is a large reservoir with marina where you can rent a boat and it also offers a good game fishing. Nice swimming beach access on Lake Hickory 13 miles ( 20 Minutes) from here: Lake Hickory Wittenburg access area (Wittenburg Access Area, 175 Wildlife Access Rd, Hickory, NC 28601) Asheville is 1:25 hrs to the West, Charlotte is 1:25 hr to the East. There are couple of Ski resorts 45 minutes to an hr away.

Before the Kerr Scott Reservoir was built, in the 40's and 50's, this neighborhood was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Public buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic. While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.' When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So, come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends. Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind. LOCAL ACTIVITIES: To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking. Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries and vineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages. 1 night at Tails and Trails

My husband and I booked this location for a night stay before heading to the Uwharrie National Forest. A few pros, I loved the setup, double deck, the tent was roomie (once inside, I’m 6’2 so getting in and out was a little tricky with the ropes right at your face), a very wooden walk to the site(not onsite parking as stated, you are walking about 470’ ft to the campsite (bring a wagon if you have a lot of “stuff”), the view in front of the spot was beautiful! Now for the cons, I want to be as kind as possible when stating the doggie daycare was a bit interrupting our nature (peaceful) getaway. If you’re not used to dogs barking, you will hear them at the tent site . The bathroom has no light and when we arrived, there was enough TP for one bathroom trip(thankfully we had backup). The door to the bathroom was tricky / very hard to open. I was a little upset when I noticed the hammock chairs were no longer part of the setup. I was ready to relax in the swings, my husband was going to set up my hammock but there was only one hook at the old swing site. Again, these are our cons. The pros did outweigh the cons and we were thankful for our stay. It did storm the night we stayed, the tent had a very very small leak at the top so thankfully nothing happened during the rain storm and we stayed dried and safe. Thank you for allowing us to stay.

Weekend Trip to Outercamp, Blue Ridge Falls Retreat

Exceeded our expectations! Such a nice place to experience nature and solitude. We had our 8 year old son and two dogs and the place was the perfect size for all of us. We enjoyed a rinse off with the outdoor shower, roasted marshmallows, hiked to the waterfall and just enjoyed each other. Highly recommended and would love to come back and stay a little longer.

A spot in an amazing location. Serene, private, and therapeutic. They have thought of everything and then more. All directions ahead of time. Easy to follow. Immaculate, posh, and next level clamping experience. Just looking out our bay window view we watched magical North Carolina sunsets. Well appointed and a very resort 5 star stay.

Weekend Trip to Outercamp, Blue Ridge Falls Retreat

We stayed at the Gnomes Yome and had a great time. The view off the road on the way into camp is worth stopping to take in. The yurt was well appointed and comfortable. The waterfall is worth checking out and just a short hike away. Love what Evan & Co. has created here and would definitely come back!

A wonderful campground. I love that each site has a great view. You might hear others around the campground, but you rarely see them and it doesn’t detract from the nature noises. The safari tent was really clean and all the cubbies and organization made it so easy to keep things tidy. We will def be back. Bath house very clean and new.

Weekend Trip to Mountain Farm Camping & Glamping

This was one of the most open beautiful spot ,the tent was the coolest. Good for a family gathering. . Big and open area. If you're the type that needs shade... bring a canopy. . Very cool host very helpful and made sure we had everything offered his help completely sweet owners. Next time I'm staying longer. Thank you . It was awesome!

Michelle and Lisa were fabulous! My husband and I stayed 3 nights in their yurt with our dog. We didn’t spend much time on the property, as we were house hunting in the area and spent most of the day exploring. Their yurt was the perfect spot to hunker down for the night!

Weekend Trip to Outercamp, Blue Ridge Falls Retreat

Such a magical place! Well thought out and private space where we enjoyed relaxing and exploring here and locally with our pup. We didn’t expect it to go from super warm to super cold but we’re well taken care of and comfortable in our yurt by using open windows with the fan and the propane heater that last freezing morning! We loved unplugging and being present and will be back.

This place is amazing. Everything was well thought out and super comfortable. Tina and Joe are some of the nicest down to earth folks you will ever meet. We had such a great time. I even got to feed a cow!

Weekend Trip to Starlight Hills

Loved staying in the Luna View Dome with my husband and Bernese Mtn Dog, Luna. It was quiet, secluded, easy to find, spacious, and well set up. The bed was comfortable and we definitely appreciated all of the fans to cool the space down by the time we got to bed. Was so nice talking to William when he stopped by and our dog loved him. Would definitely stay there again.

Nothing beats a campfire & magical yurt.

Great location with a great view. We enjoyed the hiking trails and waterfall on the property. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. We would love to stay again.

2 nights at TangleWood Creekside Campsites

The location was very peaceful right by the creek. The safari tent was a nice mix of primitive with just a touch of modern comforts like a generator and small fan. The bathhouse is nearly complete and adds another layer of comfort to having a taste of unspoiled nature. It was a lovely and relaxing trip. Blair was a great host. We'll definitely go again!
