Airy (Mayberry) 53 miles. We have had several 40+ft rigs stay with us with no issue. For those not accustomed to mountain travel or new drivers please know that travel off NC 18 on the state road is a typical two lane paved mountain road with curves, some of which will require you to swing wide, a couple of areas of moderate incline but that does not exceed 8%, a short state maintained gapped section of gravel and an occasional low hanging branch. At the campsites there is a slight incline and some loose gravel. Caution: Wildlife present in the area including bear, bobcat, deer, turkey.

The steep driveway wasn't that bad and led to camping sites that captured the heart of the North Carolina mountains. Great privacy and views and even some woodland creatures to remind you of the camping experience. Full hookups and access to a very, very clean bathhouse/laundry room. This was our second stay here, had a great time with our first that we decided to bring some friends out for a group camp at the bigger site. This is such a great spot - private but not difficult to get to, and close to so many great hikes. Trevor is a great host!!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The views are amazing, and the site is immaculate, nothing out of place. Linda and John were very accommodating and responsive. I pray the Lord continues to bless them in their ministry of sharing their beautiful property with others 🙏!

Weekend Trip to New River Ridge

Our creekside site was private, beautiful & a perfect landing site. Close to sweet little towns and hiking in Grayson Highlands but remote enough to feel like we were lost in the mountains. Our hosts met our every need and were so friendly and welcoming. We even got a preview of the upcoming tiny home rentals on the ridge- can’t wait for these to be available. We will be back and highly recommend this location!

3 nights at Tranquil Highlands Campground

Amazing private campsite in the mountains! Close to everything and peaceful! Exactly what we wanted for a weekend getaway! Our two dogs loved being able to wander around the site while we enjoyed the campfire!

Weekend Trip to Redeemers Ridge Retreat

Absolutely beautiful rolling hills and long range mountain views. Sunrises and sunsets were picture perfect. The hosts were very nice and the site was well maintained. We enjoyed Grayson Highlands nearby and the morning walk around the property to the ruins and pine forest. What a gem close to downtown Sparta and other awesome attractions. Had a nice dinner after a long hike at Red Dog restaurant about 8 minutes away from camp site.

Weekend Trip to Catawba Bend

Loved the view of the mountains from the campsite. Super nice, as there are only 3 other spots and convient to have your sewer connection on site as well. Note to those with cars that have to be put in 4wd, put in 4wd before heading up the hill. The hardest part is in the beginning. Also, pull your rig all the way to the right after you get up the hill and then back into site.

Our third time here. What a special space yall have created. Our kids love the whimsical bamboo forest and the buffalo feeding ritual. Nice flat space with bathroom and fire ring set up.
