This property is part of an original hundred acre woods in the Adirondack Park overlooking Lincoln Pond. My grandfather moved an old ice house under the property in 1943 and built the existing camp in 1949. Her family lives in Florida and has continued to maintain and improve the old camp for the last 40 years. After having done selective logging two years ago we discovered a spot in the back of the property overlooking the pond and with the removal of a couple of trees have a beautiful view of Lincoln Pond. The deck with the Yurt is the beginning of an eventual cabin. I live in the main house from late May until late October and decided to share it with like minded nature loving folks. Our cozy yurt is located within minutes of amazing hiking, biking, breweries and much more! Sit around the campfire while listening to our resident owls or stare up at the stars through the dome. Our yurt has a loft where you can climb the ladder to a queen-sized bed. Or you can sleep on the full-sized futon on the main floor. We closed in half of the area under the loft for the bathroom, including a flush toilet, sink and shower. Please note there is a folding privacy screen but no door to the bathroom. The yurt has a small kitchen with a small refrigerator, toaster oven, coffeemaker, double cooktop, sink, pots, pans dishware and silverware. In colder weather the space is heated with a Rinai propane heater. The whole yurt is yours to use as well as the associated porch/outdoor space and firepit. No guarantees however...) Did I mention that our property abuts the 4,000 acre Bristol Cliffs Wilderness Area? Notch Brook and the New Haven River, which are just down the road from us, provide ample fishing and swimming opportunities. Are you interested in sampling Vermont’s famous brews, wines and spirits? We’re 5 minutes from the Bobcat Cafe and 15 minutes from Middlebury where you’ll find Otter Creek Brewery, Lincoln Peak Vineyard and other breweries and distilleries. Are you curious about how maple syrup is made? We’d be happy to give you a tour of our 750 tap sugaring operation and samples of our syrup, candy and other maple confections. Please note that the Yurt is about seventy five feet from our house on a working tree farm in a rural - residential neighborhood. The campsite is roughly 10m x 30m (30' x 100'), large enough for several tents or a small camper/RV. It is accessed by a sloped 50m (about 150') gravel driveway. The narrowest part of the driveway is 2.6m (about 8.5 feet). There is a 3m x 3m (10' x 10') tent platform and a large picnic table. Firewood is provided. Near our home about 120m/400 feet away through the trees but relatively private. Within a short pedal or drive to some of the best mountain biking and hiking Vermont has to offer, 15 minutes to Richmond and Hinesburg, and just a half hour to Burlington. Main House Front Porch The front porch of the main house has continued to be a wonderful gathering place with outstanding sunset views and surrounding terraced gardens with blossoms and berries that attract hummingbirds and bees. We serve meals from the adjoining big kitchen, and these can be enjoyed on the porch or taken on trays to the nearby Plum Grove, other outdoor settings. The porch is a great place to meet with others or enjoy a place to sit and read. There is also a good internet connection on the porch and a place to charge devices. You are welcome to walk anywhere on Metta Earth land. Or you may want to walk on the surrounding dirt roads, all with very minimal cars and great mountain views or along the river. We can give further directions and information about the region when you are here. Our stays range from basic tent sites to Yurts and Canvas Tents. We have something for everyone. We have four yurts nestled on a knoll among maples, beeches, balsam, and other trees. They each are positioned for a sense of privacy from the others and have little paths connecting them. They all are well loved and humble, beautiful, light filled circular spaces with a round dome skylight, lattice siding, windows with screens for summer use and in winter extra insulation provided by window quilts. Each yurt has a wood stove for colder weather. The yurts are furnished simply with various configurations of single and double beds, tables, chairs, shelving, and sheepskins or other floor rugs. At night a few of the paths are lit with solar lamps, so it is wise to bring a flashlight/headlamp as well. Beeswax candles provide inside night lighting. Some of the yurts have string, solar lights around the inside of the yurt walls. We have 5 bell tents that are lovely, roundish shaped tents with a peak. Four of them are smaller, one-person tents, and one is larger for a couple or 2 people. We provide amattress and pillow with organic bedding and a sheepskin rug, and a simple storage crate/table. It’s a good idea to bring a sleeping bag for extra warmth, especially in the potentially colder shoulder seasons in May and in September. If you have a tent, insulated ground mat, and sleeping gear, we have many inspiring sites in the surrounding forest glades, meadows, and fields. Those who choose to camp have access to outdoor composting toilets, a hot water outside faucet for bucket bathing, and outdoor shower available in the warmer seasons. Camping requires a certain hardiness and adequate gear. Weather during the growing season (May – October) in the mountains of Vermont is unpredictable. Temperatures range from freezing temperatures at night in the spring and fall to gloriously warm days and even hot days.

My fourth time at the best Hipcamp in Vermont. This is the quintessential camping plus comfort. It is a comfortable bed, no bugs. In a shed, no power. With a fire pit, a huge sky, blueberries and moose around, screaming wifi and clean bathrooms and delightful outdoor showers. They brought over this super cool gadget that allowed us to take nice, hot showers! It was such a treat. The bed was comfy and the tent was huge! We want to come back. The listing says it's close to the lake, and you can walk a few minutes down the road to get a view of the lake, but it's all private property. If you want to sit by the lake or swim you really need to drive. We walked, but most of the walk is on a small, two way road that cars go pretty fast down.

Weekend Trip to Camp Way Wild

Ken's lean-to was the best! The views were incredible, and the walk to the bath house was a sweet trail (only about .5 mi). Definitely a good place to crash after long hikes. One great addition would be a guest book in the lean-to. As it would be awesome to hear about other campers' adventures. Overall we had a great stay!

We loved camping here! It was our first time ‘glamping’ and not having to set up our own camp site. The tent was spacious, organized, and kept us dry during a heavy rainfall. Enjoyed the fire pit the first night, and paddling with a cute loon family on Iroquois Lake. Thank you!

Weekend Trip to BlueberryHill Field Camp

This was a magical spot for our family of 4. The sites all felt private and spaced from each other, but also felt really nice to also have access to bathrooms and showers across the field :). We found this location via Hipcamp, but there’s also an Inn across the (gravel/quiet) road, which is worth looking into as well! There are trails to hike directly from the property, a nearby state park with a lake for swimming, and a town about 15 minutes away with a grocery store and restaurants if you need them!

Weekend Trip to Camp Way Wild

Ken's property is very nice. I camped here with my two dogs and it feels very safe and private. You do hear some car noise. One of my dogs is obsessed with porcupines and found one and got quilled within 5 minutes of arrival. We saw the porcupine several times over the course of our stay but I kept my dogs on long lines after the porcupine incident. The road to the lean-to is steep and narrow road. I went up and down following Ken but didn't feel comfortable driving it alone as there was one spot that was almost too narrow for my vehicle (a Rivian R1s). So I camped down at the main entrance near the bathhouse which has lots of level area for camping and easy access - no 4wd needed. The people mentioning 4wd are referring to the road to the lean-to which you can avoid. My dogs and I walked up to the lean-to a few times. The bathhouse is right off the road and it has hot and cold water in the sink and shower as well as a flush toilet, electric outlets and lights, a wood stove and a table and chairs. There's a barn with a picnic table inside. There aren't any tables outside. I went on a hot summer weekend and was so surprised at the lack of tourists in the area but it's a beautiful area with nice hikes and pretty little towns. Ken's a great host - quick to answer questions. We'd definitely return.

Lovely little spot that is comfortable and has an awesome little front yard / fire pit. Easy to get too as it’s right off a main road, but still feels tucked away just enough in the trees. I only wish I had more time to stay and enjoy! ☺️

Weekend Trip to Hot Dot’s Retreat On East Creek A

It is an amazing spot and Alyson is a great host. The dock has great fishing readily available. The wildlife is amazing close by, we spotted the resident beaver several times during the trip and also a porcupine! Snake mountain is close by and an amazing hike. Brandon is also a phenomenal town near by and Orwell has a nice Sunday farmers market. Alyson is an amazing host and the amenities available make camping easy.
