Sterling Pond

The camp was first built in 1905 by Dr. Goldsmith and family. The doctor and his family used the camp for summer vacations. During the winter the camp was rented out as winter hotel for loggers. Ice was harvested from the pond and stored in what is now one of the cabins. 

When our family bought the place, the hotel was falling down and the buildings were in disrepair. Geoffrey, the family caretaker, has spent the last few years cleaning up the site. All that remains now of the hotel is the chimney while the ice house has become a cabin and has been improved and ready for visitors. We have a double futon, small wood stove and gas burners for a cozy indoor experience. 

With 840 ft of pond frontage and 4.4 acres you can pitch a tent on the banks of the pond, up in the woods, or stay in the small cabin all are included in the cost of booking!

Swimming and boating in the pond is obligatory. Year round fishing has long been a tradition.

The spring fed pond is home to large and small mouth bass, northern pike, crappy, and blue gills. There are a number of ponds and state lands nearby. Accommodations include two outhouses and two docks so no waiting. There is a canoe and rowboat available and life jackets. The camp is car accessible Mid-May to the end of September. 

There are summer cottages across the pond but not much happening on our side. Cedar Lodge, the nearest bar/restaurant, is about 5 minutes away and very popular all year round. The closest gas station and convenience store is about 20 minutes in the village of Parishville.

Camp Mountaineer is located at Massawepie Scout Camps, 65 Massawepie Road in Piercefield, NY - just west of Tupper Lake. The campground features a variety of camping options to suit your group’s needs—cabins, RV sites, tent sites, and group campsites are all available. Various amenities are provided to make your stay even more enjoyable. Situated in the North Central Adirondacks, Camp Mountaineer provides an opportunity for great on-site outdoor recreation as well as a jumping off point to adventures throughout the Adirondack Park. The facilities and services available at Camp Mountaineer make this a great choice for your family or groups’ adventure.

Camp Mountaineer is owned and operated by the Seneca Waterways Council, Boy Scouts of America headquartered in Rochester, NY. First opened as a Scout camp in 1953, Mountaineer now serves as a campground equipped to suit your group’s needs. Any group can make a reservation.

Mt Baker Tiny Cabin

This off-the-grid tiny house is nestled on a 23 acre parcel at the end of a quarter-mile dirt road.  The property itself is secluded but is less than 2 miles from the heart of Saranac Lake's downtown.  This property is bordered by the Saranac River, the backside of Baker Mountain and State Forest.  The only other building on the property is our timberframe which we may or may not be at during the time of your visit.  The property does have private trails up to the cliffs on the backside of Baker mtn however, the Saranac River is down a steep embankment so it does not make for a good place to launch a boat (several public boat launches nearby).

The Mt Baker tiny house is a great basecamp for hiking the Saranac Lake 6-ers, paddling/boating along the Saranac Chain of lakes or Saranac River, Mountain Biking at Dewey, Pisgah or other nearby BETA trails.  

IMPORTANT DETAILS:

This tiny cabin is completely off the grid: no electricity, heat or cooling.

Queen sized bed - we provide the linens.

The driveway is narrow - so nothing in tow.

Drinking water is provided via jug and dispenser.

There is a brand new outhouse (no flushable toilet)

We have a designated spot for campfires (smores are a must)

There is an older propane grill outside for guest use

ADK Getaway

ADK Getaway is located 2 miles outside the Adirondack Park. We have two 1-bedroom cabins (about 200 feet apart) on a quiet, wooded lot. Each cabin has a fire pit with Adirondack chairs, decks (soon to be screened-in) with outdoor dining sets, and small front porches, perfect for enjoying your morning coffee. It's not unusual to spot deer, foxes, eagles, hawks, or hear a nearby loon. 

Each cabin is approximately 14 feet x 36 feet. There is a separate bedroom (with a queen bed), bathroom (with shower, sink, toilet, and washer/dryer), and an open kitchen and living room space. We can accommodate 4 people per cabin as there is a queen-sized sofa bed in each of the living rooms. The kitchen has a 2-burner stove top, toaster oven, apartment-sized fridge, pots/pans, utensils, a table for 4, and a coffee bar. 

Other amenities: electric fireplace, TV with streaming capabilities, WiFi, A/C, blender, fire extinguisher, microwave, iron, hair dryer, first aid kit, bedding, towels, books, games, puzzles, desk, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, and free parking for two vehicles.

Overlook Lean-To, Treehouse, primitive campsites, and so much more! This is glamping at its finest. Our property was originally used as a seasonal hunting/fishing camp in the 1920's. Sheila and Bob bought it in the early 80s and have turned it into an amazing compound built for their family. They blinked their eyes and their children are gone, so this beautiful 50 acre diverse property and its private trail system are meant to be shared.

Nestled in a mature, private pine forest, this well cared for property boasts abundant wildlife and a network of walking, skiing and mountain biking trails which take you past wetlands, cliffs and a variety of forest types. They have all kinds of lodging options from a beautiful vacation cabin they rent, to an Adk lean-to, to a Treehouse, and primitive campsites. You'll find a little bit for everyone at Adirondack Adventure Base.

May Meadows Farm

Located in a hay meadow that is farmed 2 to 3 times a year to provide food for our animals. Next to the meadow is a mix of maple and pine trees. In the spring we use the maple trees for maple syrup production.&nbsp;Learn more about this land:This site is close to the road but easy to access. It is located where there was once an old stone barn, and all that is left is the stone foundation. Set around shrubbery trees, with two big maples at the parking spot to provide shade and coverage. You look out to an open hay meadow. That abuts our maple sugar stand with a mix of pine trees in the woods.  You will be able to watch lots of deer frolic and play in the meadow and hear the sounds of the wildlife and birds around the woods. You may hear the occasional horse-drawn carriage as our neighbors are Amish and utilize the road frequently. In the distance, you might hear a stray moo as we have three farms on the road that are home to a variety of cows.On the campsite, you are more than welcome to bring a pet and let them safely roam around the field, or take a walk around yourself. If you are up for a farm adventure, please let us know we are more than happy to share our story and give a tour of our multifunctional farm, featuring dairy production, sheep, goats, cropping, and a few horses.In this unique spot, you will have convenient access to Route 11 and be a short 12 min drive to the town of Canton. Around us, we have a nature preserve that allows for walks and wildlife sittings, the Grass River where you can kayak and swim.

Learn more about this land:The RV site can accommodate self-contained RVs up to 24 feet. You can expect a back-in site that will require some leveling.&nbsp;There is lots of green space, alongside the 401, the river is in town as well as shopping.There is a fire pit on site. No pets are permitted as there are animals on site.&nbsp;We also have a hobby farm.&nbsp;No loud noise after 11 pm. No parties. Please clean up after you leave!
