The cabin is located in a remote area of Bear Swamp State Forest. It is about 5 miles from the nearest paved road but has seasonal roads that take you to the cabin. There are many close attractions like Skaneateles Lake and Carpenters Falls. The Cabin doesn’t have electricity or water but we do have a generator available. We do not have a shower or bathroom but we have an outhouse. We do ask people to bring their own gas if you want to run the generator and woods to make a fire. I highly recommend 4x4 vehicles but I been there in a civic and a mini van.

Perfect get-away for humans and their four-legged friends, it's a dog's dream vacation spot. Enjoy a week or weekend, or your vacation in a place where the "noise" is the melodious sounds of nature. It is remote enough to completely break from urban life, yet close enough to Ithaca, NY to enjoy its beauty and attractions. Amenities: outhouse, hand water pump, two-seater outhouse, propane grill, some pots and pans, grill utensils, wood stoves, private, gated entrance, pond, trails. Sleeping loft, no bed (you provide mattress/sleeping bag, etc.). There may be candles, toilet paper, bug spray (if left by previous guests). It is a quiet, rural, farming area. Once at the cabin there are only two to three houses within a half mile (through the woods), so you will have a private space all your own. Winter camping is special - cozy wood heated cabin, hundreds of acres for snow shoeing, cross country skiing, or snowmobiling. Plan ahead, we do not plow the driveway in winter; plan to shovel an off-road parking space, and transport your gear up to the cabin (1100'). Wood is provided. Onsite: water pump, 2-seat outhouse, wood stove, campfire ring, wood, & propane grill. Exclusive access for nature hikes, streams, forest, pond, swimming, bird watching, star gazing, etc. A wheelchair that can navigate grass and some ruts can enter the cabin, but not the outhouse, and the sleeping loft is up stairs (there is room for a cot or mattress on the first floor); the porch is accessible through the cabin. When you book, you are confirming your understanding of the following: there is no electricity, running water, or std. bed/mattresses. You bring own air mattress, bedding, and gear you will need. All-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. We welcome special events, family reunions, or weddings, if your plans do not require utilities (you may bring a generator or other battery operated items, as needed). Note for winter guests: We do not plow the driveway in winter, you need to be ready to shovel an off-road parking spot, and transport gear to cabin (e.g. by sled, snowshoes) Here's a brief list of the basics to bring: Light source: Lantern propane or battery. Air mattress or cot and whatever bedding you need. Paper products (cups, plates, utensils, toilet paper, etc.) Matches/fire starter (there is wood on-site, and a propane grill for cooking that has a self-starter). Bug spray. Cooler and ice. Lawn chairs.  There are a few tables, several chairs and benches. There are 2 picnic tables (one outside and one inside). The benches can be moved outside if you'd like, just move them back inside before you leave. The propane grill should only be used outside. There is a hand axe in the cabin to shave kindling, and the wood is already split to be the length for the wood stove, as needed. Gas: 5 miles away. If you plan to grocery shop when you get to the area, the closest store is at East Hill Plaza in Ithaca, about 9 miles past where the cabin is (I can give you all that info if you like). There is lots to explore/see/do in the Ithaca area if you decide to come down off the hill one of the days. I'll have some brochures and things in the cabin, and can answer questions (aka where is the best ice cream, dinner, etc.).

Please be patient with us. We have one other listing on the land so there may be times you do see other guests. We have a home under construction on the property so we also may be there at times. This site gives you a quiet wooded area to camp for the night or two with a porta potty for luxury camping. This site allows you to have a quiet place to camp without a lot of people and kid free. Most campgrounds have children but Stars and Sage does not allow children. Please feel free to bring your own camping needs as we only provide a fire area. The site is approximately 19 feet by 39 feet in dimension. You will be close to Mexico village and about 20 minutes from the city of Oswego. Plenty of biking areas all around . Enjoy a hike in the trail or take a short trip to Mexico point to put your Canoe or kayaks in to enjoy Lake Ontario. Lake Ontario is well known for fishing. You may see deer, Fox, muskrat, etc. you may hear coyotes in the distance. A flash light and a hatchet and bug spray are definitely recommended to have on hand.

Plan ahead, we do not plow the driveway in winter; plan to shovel an off-road parking space, and transport your gear up to the cabin (1100'). Wood is provided. Onsite: water pump, 2-seat outhouse, wood stove, campfire ring, wood, & propane grill. Exclusive access for nature hikes, streams, forest, pond, swimming, bird watching, star gazing, etc. A wheelchair that can navigate grass and some ruts can enter the cabin, but not the outhouse, and the sleeping loft is up stairs (there is room for a cot or mattress on the first floor); the porch is accessible through the cabin. When you book, you are confirming your understanding of the following: there is no electricity, running water, or std. bed/mattresses. You bring own air mattress, bedding, and gear you will need. All-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. We welcome special events, family reunions, or weddings, if your plans do not require utilities (you may bring a generator or other battery operated items, as needed). Lawn chairs.  There are a few tables, several chairs and benches. There are 2 picnic tables (one outside and one inside). The benches can be moved outside if you'd like, just move them back inside before you leave. The propane grill should only be used outside. There is a hand axe in the cabin to shave kindling, and the wood is already split to be the length for the wood stove, as needed. Gas: 5 miles away. If you plan to grocery shop when you get to the area, the closest store is at East Hill Plaza in Ithaca, about 9 miles past where the cabin is (I can give you all that info if you like). There is lots to explore/see/do in the Ithaca area if you decide to come down off the hill one of the days. I'll have some brochures and things in the cabin, and can answer questions (aka where is the best ice cream, dinner, etc.).

The hike is along old logging roads in the forest, but it's all uphill on the way in. We do not allow vehicle access to guests, but we have a vehicle we can use to deliver potable water (make sure to check with us to make sure we can provide extra water on the dates you need). There is a wood stove (for heat) and propane stove (for cooking). There is a triple decker bunk bed, you need to bring your own sleeping pad and sleeping bag. The kitchen is stocked with all of your main essentials. From pans to measuring cups, to a coffee maker and crockpot. We have lots of everyday items for you to use during your stay. The upstairs bathroom has a tub/shower, toilet and vanity. The downstairs bathroom has a shower, toilet and vanity. Toilet paper and towels are provided. We are just a few miles away from Dorchester Lake where you can enjoy swimming, boating and fishing from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The life-guarded swimming area is open daily through the summer with hours listed on their website. They have kayak, paddle boat and canoe rentals during the season as well. Your kid’s can have fun on the playgrounds, plan to pack a picnic and enjoy a family walk on their paved walking path. If you book your stay between mid July through the beginning of August you can visit Frosty Mountain Blueberry Patch which is just a mile up the road to pick delicious blueberries! During the winter you can visit Greek Peak Mountain Resort which is just a half an hour away. Take the family to ski, snowboard or go snow tubing! Bull Creek runs through our property and deer and Turkey sometimes comes out to eat in the fields. **Our Cottage is protected by Blink video surveillance, located outside by both entry doors, and overlooking the driveway.

I spent the weekend at Round Top Retreat alone to unplug, relax, and recharge and it was exactly what I needed. The wood burning stoves did an excellent job at heating the cabin. It got below 40° at night but it was probably 60° inside with the fire going. The stove is also great for cooking. It was a little rainy during my trip so I did all my cooking indoors. The driveway continues uphill past the cabin and turns into a hiking trail. I think it's supposed to connect to the Robinsons Hollow State Forest Trail but I couldn't find it (the official trial head is just down the road). It was still an invigorating 2 mile walk. I spotted lots of birds and a couple deer.

Great location right on Cayuga Lake for a long weekend getaway! Beautiful and private setting, friendly and thoughtful host! We would absolutely visit again! Las Casitas are comfortable, clean, and cozy - and literally steps to the water! Though we stayed for a few days in October when it was too chilly to go into the lake, this is an ideal spot to swim or drop in a kayak. Susan was a great host and checked in to make sure we had all that we needed! We brought our camping cooking gear to supplement what the cabin offers. Sitting by the Solo stove campfire at night was relaxing, and the porch is a perfect spot for morning coffee! The bed was so comfortable, and a small electric heater that was provided worked well to keep us warm when the temperature dipped lower overnight. Also, we had never used an incinerating toilet before - no issues, easy to use! This spot is private (close to Susan’s cabin but separated by trees) and quiet, while also close to everything the area has to offer - specifically state parks with amazing waterfall hiking (Taughannock is a quick 5 minute drive south, while Buttermilk Falls and Treman are 15-20 minutes south), and cideries and wineries (don’t miss the incredible Finger Lakes Cider House, just 10 minutes north). Likewise, it’s just up the road from Trumansburg and about 15 minutes into Ithaca for more amenities. Thanks again, Susan!

Our experience at The Christmas Tree Farm Hidden Delight was absolutely wonderful. Mary was a fantastic host. She was friendly and thorough in her communication, even recommending places to enjoy in the area. We arrived later in the day and were thrilled that she had started a fire in the woodstove inside the tent and had also started a campfire for us. So very thoughtful and a fabulous surprise. The site itself is incredibly private with amazing views. The firewood she provided was dry and plentiful, a bonus since it was a bit chilly for much of our visit. It was great to be able to have the dogs off leash too. We enjoyed our time immensely and highly recommend the site. Thank you, Mary!

What a wonderful experience we had at Camp Earth Connection with the Tiny Cabin! Eshay was great in showing us around, showing us how the tiny cabin worked, and all of the little intricacies. It’s such a peaceful and quiet place to relax and listen to the sounds of nature. We especially enjoyed waking up each morning to all of the crows we could hear calling to one another. Not far from Ithaca either or many State Parks and trails. Wi-Fi was great to have as there was no cell service for us (Verizon). Would definitely stay there again!

My grandson and I ejoyed four days at the storytime cabin. It was clean, attractive, and well equipped. I am 6 feet two inches tall and slept comfortably in the large bed. My grandson slept well in the bunk bed on the other side of the cabin. It was convenient to have the minifridge because I had to keep insulin cold. The desk, chair, lamp, and electric outlets were another nice convenience. Clean bathrooms and showers were perfectly only about 30 yards away. An outdoor kitchen sink and covered picnic table also helped. Peace and quiet were in abundance. Nature amazed and was beyond words. Camp Earth Connection is a wonderful break from the stresses of life! We took several hikes on trails in the adjacent state park and enjoyed the changing colors of the foliage. The trails were well-marked. A mother deer stopped to observe me and then walked off unimpressed. Her two fawns soon followed her. Other guest across an open field were quiet and respectful. Simple clear rules ensured the few guests did not intrude on eachother's enjoyment of nature and the facilities. I highly recommend Camp Earth Connection for an outstanding peaceful experience with nature in peace. Thank you!

Perfect getaway for myself and my two poodles. My only regret is that I only booked one night. We will be back for sure, hopefully this year if there are weekends still available. The cabin is incredibly charming and it smells so good! Not sure what I expected, maybe earthy, musty smell? It felt like home. I am not necessarily a hardy, “rugged” girl and I felt the accommodations were perfect. The sleeping loft is so beautiful with the sky lights and the large back porch is wonderful for early morning coffee while feeling immersed in nature. My dogs and I hiked through the goldenrod fields approximately one mile up the hill- great little workout for me. We went into the forest as well, found really beautiful moss-covered trees and stumps. My standard poodle is a swim-a-holic and spent more of her time retrieving from the pond and practicing her dock-diving distance. Surprisingly, I had great cell phone service everywhere I went on the property. Overall, stunning place with the warmest, most welcoming host, Nancy, and we cannot wait to be back there!!

So welcoming and peaceful! When I met Savanna upon arrival, she said, “the camp is a labor of love.” And it shows! She and her husband Brad have made a little slice of heaven in a beautiful stand of hard woods and mature white pine. The cabin is off grid but powered up by a high-capacity battery. Super comfy and cozy, it’s a great one-room refuge. Bonus points for the screened porch entryway and easy chairs. A bath house is a short walk with an outdoor work sink and a lovely interior with tile floors, nice shower, and bath sink I’d be proud to have in my home. Warm, clean, and inviting, it’s a beautiful bath house. Tho there is no wi-fi, cell works well-enough to stream a movie or podcast. Highly recommend!
