The property is a 5 minute drive to the hamlet of Mountaindalewhich has a lovely Rail Trail for hikes and bikes, and some excellent dining options including @ highvoltagecatskills, in addition to creek bar a magical cafe & bar with outdoor seating and fire pits that serves delicious modern Polish American comfort food, great cocktails, and has live music and events on weekends. There is also an artisan pizza spot with indoor/outdoor seating, hipster vibes and fun cocktails and live music @ thedaleNY For shopping you can also stop by @ forageandgather - they have foods, meats, gourmet deli and coffee and carry all the little things you may have forgotten to bring along in addition to a locally and craft focused wine and spirits shop. Also stop by @badgrandmashop for the most vibrant and stylish clothes for all sizes and styles. Not to be missed. There is also a lovely yoga studio and bollywood dance spot in addition to some other delightful gems in town. There is superb hiking nearby at Neversink Unique Area in Rock Hill. Also Bashakill trails (and conveniently a vineyard with tastings and events right nearby). Your'e also about 30 minutes away from super cute fun larger towns and attractions like New Paltz, Livingston Manor, and tons of incredible Catskill hiking and nature opportunities. NOTE! There's an excellent Farmers Market on Saturday's in Rock Hill from 10-1pm from June to September also. Come find us there! Not suitable for parties or loud groups. For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty. It’s considered a sacred site central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka. Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, the waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. It’s one of those extraordinarily beautiful spots on earth that make you feel like you are in another world. It's about a 10 minute hike to the waterfall where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire and fall asleep under the stars listening to the river below. The hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls. Be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and keep noise down after 10pm to enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside At the entrance to the campsites there is a barn community room with a charging station, cold water sink, fridge, coffee maker, cookware, and a port-a-potty. There are 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water. This is a leave no trace site. Take all your trash with you when you leave. Bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty! Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log. The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms stands with fresh produce and organic meat close by. Within a 5 miles radius is a general store, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, Rooted Movement, the Sap Bush Country Store and Café, and Mustang Valley (a wild mustang sanctuary). Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, and others.

Discover a magical setting close to everything in the Catskills. This solo campsite is tucked into a private meadow pocket, bordered by a tumbling creek, woods, and my horse's favorite pasture, with views of the surrounding hillsides and the river valley leading to the Delaware River at Callicoon. Your accommodation includes a canvas tent on a platform with a queen-size air-mattress bed, a wood-burning stove, and two Adirondack chairs. A pop-up tent, that sleeps up to 6 persons, is available. We provide a large blanket and pillows with cases, but not sheets. Outside, there's a fire pit and a picnic table with benches. We supply fire-starters (kindling, newspaper, matches), but not firewood (available for purchase at a nearby market). Potable water is available in containers that are refilled upon request. The toilet is rustic. Our farm is home to herds of White-Tailed Deer, Wild Turkeys, Painted Turtles, Red-Tail Hawks, my Off-The-Track Thoroughbred horse, chickens, ducks, and Aslan, my Cocker Spaniel. Birdsong, frog song, the babbling creek, and the thundering hooves of Deva will serenade you to sleep. During your stay, you're welcome to hike, swim, and fish in the pond. This cabin was exactly what my partner and I were looking for for a quiet two-day retreat that felt outdoorsy without all the work of true camping. Space heaters and a woodstove kept it fairly cozy for cold November nights, and there was a ton of wood available for the outdoor firepit. We enjoyed exploring the collection of board games and CDs inside, plus outdoor badminton and frisbee under the lights. Beautiful clear stargazing, and easy driving distance to some great hikes.

Perfect for a weekend escape from the city. The cabin was spacious and spotless, and the restroom was well-maintained. No service, water, or electricity, but firewood was ready for us, and the nights under the stars were amazing. The host was friendly and easy to communicate with, and check-in/check-out were very flexible and smooth. It felt a little pricey for a basic setup, but we still really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking to disconnect and recharge in nature.

We had a delightful stay at campsite number two. While originally booked in campsite number one, Christine and her husband asked us if we would be interested in moving to site 2 and we are glad we did. It was a 24 square foot tent with a couch, all kitchen essentials, a fridge, lots of bedding, a trashcan, flashlights and a heater. Only thing that we were required to bring with the clothes and shoes. Everything else was either present or available to buy from the camp store. The store was filled with food items, ice creams, drinks bathrobe, spa packets, basically everything you would need on this getaway. Plus, they provide breakfast in the morning on the days of your stay, which is very filling and elaborate. In fact it was one of the highlights of our day to be having breakfast amidst such nice lush views. The stay also comes with a complementary night of using hot bathtubs, which is just a few steps away from the camp and is highly recommended. The walk behind the campsite into the forest is beautiful especially this time of the year as we could spot a lot of fall colors and leaves. In the morning, the camp is filled with chirps of the birds. The only hiccup during our stay was the incessant rain during night time and then some until the next afternoon. So next time we would take the rain insurance, but host fixed us with heater fuel amidst the heavy rain. It was really helpful. We enjoyed dinner just 20 min drive away in the town of town named Cooperstown.

Sam’s got a really special place here! While not quite as private as I’d assumed (the sites are somewhat close together and near a road and you’d occasionally run into another guest at the toilets), the sound of the water from the waterfall drowns out almost all noise and you still feel like you’re in the middle of the woods. We stayed at the waterfall site with the bathtub, which we did not bathe in, but it was nice to have hot water on site to wash hands, brush teeth etc. The tent was cozy once we got the propane heater going and the added amenities (coffee maker, electric kettle, fire pit with an attached grill…) were nice. There’s even firewood onsite for purchase. Sam responded immediately when we had any questions or issues and was very helpful. Would absolutely stay again!

This 17-acre site has diverse habitats, from an upland pine and hardwood forest to wild native meadows full of blueberries, asters and milkweed. The most special feature is a large tributary and creek waterway system with areas of wetland. Once choked with invasive plants, it is now a largely restored native plant and wildlife habitat that supports migrating herons, trout, amphibians and clouds of Monarch and other butterflies. In the fall I've seen Monarchs circle up in vortexes from the meadows and take off on their migration. There are several large swimming holes where the creek turns or joins with its tributary. Bridges have been installed over the tributary and over brooklets feeding into it. A lot of care and love is going into this land. Over 500 native trees planted along the creek banks are growing into a forest - you'll see many still in protective tubes and cages. Thousands of native pollinator ground-plants have been planted or sprung up on their own, some like tiny flowering gems on the shady forest floors. The old stone walls running through the property and around its boundaries speak to its history as a farm and an apple orchard. Swimming, hiking, fishing and bird-and-wildlife watching will fascinate you in this dynamic landscape that is constantly coming closer to what used to exist hundreds of years ago and is now reestablishing itself. In the vicinity, there's Tetta's, a deli/cafe/gas station and small emporium with made-to-order pizza, local raw honey, mushroom, crafts, and all kinds of food, pretty much everything you need; it's been in the family for generations. Find it Northeast on Samsonville Road (County Rt. 3) at the junctions of Rts. 2 & 3. There's a hike to a waterfall if you drive a few miles down Upper Cherrytown Road from the end of Sundown Road: you'll see a parking lot with signs for the falls; the DEC-maintained trail is across the road (https://www.catskillmountaineer.com/SD-vernooy-falls-east.html). There's venues nearby along Rt. 209 with local musicians on Saturday nights: places like The Outpost Barbeque, 6611 Rt. 209 in Kerhonkson, Lydia's Cafe at 7 Old US Hwy 209, Stone Ridge. Near Lydia's is a favorite afternoon hang-out, Cherries Roadside and General, which not only has literally hundreds of ice cream flavors, but an excellent, informal restaurant. Great access to the Roaring Kill Trailhead and to the Devil's Path Hiking Trail. If you're looking for some water activities take a short drive to Colgate Lake. Site guidelines Do be careful driving on the dirt jeep track out to the camp. Don't miss swimming in the Roaring Kill Falls. Do leave the campsite just as you found it. "Don't feed the bears." Seriously, do keep a very clean camp. Do ask questions about local activities- swimming holes, hiking, etc. Please take all trash with you, leave no trace!
