Learn more about this land: Stay in our cozy 8’x10 ‘ wall tent on a 14’x16’ deck built next to a waterfall. The site includes include a private outdoor shower and a well serviced outhouse per site. Relax in front of the fire pit and grill that overlooks the falls. This gorgeous 24' Yurt includes electricity, excellent Wifi, comfortable Queen beds (one mattress on a bed frame and up to two floor mattresses), a refrigerator, and a pristine compost toilet. There is no running water but we provide one gallon of drinking water and one gallon of water for washing up in the bathroom. You can add-on our outdoors camping shower setup for an additional $30, which is more like a birdbath than a real shower, but you can add hot water so it is warm. Sit on our gorgeous rocking chairs on the deck and grill, and stargaze from bed through the dome in the ceiling.Please also note that there are extra charges for more than 2 guests ($15/ person/ night), pets ($25/ stay), propane for heat (if needed- $25/ tank) mini-propane for gas grill ($10) wood bundle for outdoor fire ($15) and outdoor shower setup ($30 for us to fill with water, provide biodegradable soap, and two towels). You can add these to your booking under 'Extras'Please read through all details below to help prepare you for your stay : )WifiWe have excellent high-speed fiberoptic Wifi. There is no cell service, so make sure to save it before you arrive. SoundExpect to hear all the sounds of nature that you hear when sleeping in a tent. While the Yurt is insulated and stays warm, sound-wise it is like a tent rather than like a house, so expect to hear the sounds of the woods and the weather during your stay.WindowsThe screen windows close two different ways: to keep the Yurt insulated there is a velcroed thick plastic cover that is clear. To keep out light/ for added privacy you can roll down a solid canvas flap and zip them shut. Please note that both of these things need to happen from outside the Yurt, so you may want to set them how you want them before you turn in for the night. Please reset windows to how you found them when you leave.BathroomOur compost toilet is lined with a compostable trash bag. Please scoop sawdust from the Periwinkle Milk Crate into the toilet after each use of the toilet. You should scoop enough sawdust to completely and generously cover everything in the toilet. When you end your trip and leave the Yurt, and/or when the toilet is 2/3 full, please tie shut the compostable bag and dump the bag into our compost. Every time you use the outdoor compost, please cover what you have disposed of with either leaves or the hay provided in the center bin. (If you are only staying for 1-2 nights and would prefer not to do this, that is totally fine! Just let us know you didn’t get a chance to bring it out.)There is a pitcher with water and a wash bin for brushing teeth/ washing hands in the bathroom. You can empty the wash bin outside when finished using it. We also provide all-purpose soap.HeatThe Yurt is well insulated and runs on a propane heater. Please note that propane is not included in your stay and each tank is $25; you can find them under add-ons. Each propane tank will comfortably heat the yurt a night as cold as 30-degree night up to 24hrs. Decide how many tanks you'd like depending how long you are staying or how cold you expect it to be. The Yurt will comfortabl heat freezing nights as well, it just will use propane more quickly.WaterWe provide a full Berkey full of filtered, clean water from our well with each visit. We also provide a pitcher of water in the bathroom for brushing teeth and washing hands and face. If you are staying longer than two nights, or if you expect for any reason to use more water than provided, we ask that you bring the additional water with you, keeping in mind it is a short (4-minute) hike from parking to the Yurt. In some cases with enough notice we may be able to provide additional water for your stay for an additional charge.KitchenetteWe provide a Berkey full of filtered water, an electric kettle, a mini fridge and freezer, a microwave for use during your stay. We provide a gas Cuisinart Grill for use on the deck. If you plan to use the grill, please do a $10 mini-propane add-on so we can make sure there is fresh propane provided. We also provide cups, wine glasses, a French Press for coffee making, and compostable plates and bowls. Please do not put the plastic plates and mugs in the microwave.Please throw any compostable food into the compost bin or compost bag provided in the kitchenette and empty it into our large outdoor compost bin at the end of each day. Every time you use the outdoor compost, please cover what you have disposed of with either leaves or the hay provided in the center bin. Please never leave any food in the Yurt for more than one day that isn’t sealed in an airtight container.Please do not put meat or dairy products in the compost. If you bring meat or dairy products into the Yurt, we ask that you take any meat or diary trash out with you and dispose of it elsewhere. We have provided trash bags for this purpose. Please keep any meat and dairy products and trash in airtight sealed containers in the Yurt until you are able to dispose of them. ShowerIf you add-on the Shower Setup ($30) we will fill it with water, and provide 2 towels and biodegradable soap. This is an outdoors camping shower enclosed by shower curtains with a dirt floor; it is very rudimentary, but if you add warm water from the kettle it will be nice and warm. Please do not use any of your own products like soap, shampoo, or conditioner in the shower because it will be bad for the forest floor. Trash—-Please dispose of regular trash and recycling in our regular trash cans across from where you park. Walton automatically sorts recycling from trash so both can go in the same bins (we separate our recycling in a different bag just so the trash doesn’t contaminate it, but put it in the same bin as the trash.) —-Compost (fruit + veggie scraps, tea + coffee grounds, toilet bag) gets taken to outdoor compost bin on path to parking and covered with hay or leaves—-Meat + dairy stays sealed in an airtight container when in the Yurt and taken with you when you leaveRules1) Please remove shoes as soon as you enter the Yurt2) Please scoop sawdust anytime you use the toilet, and please take the toilet sawdust out to the compost bin once it is 2/3 of the way full or when you leave, whichever comes first. (If you are only staying 1-2 nights and prefer not to do this, that is fine, just please let us know you didn’t get a chance to bring out the toilet compost and our cleaner will take care of it.)3) Please turn off all electricity, including all lights and heaters every time you leave the Yurt, especially when you end your trip.4) Please never leave any food in the Yurt for more than one day that isn’t sealed in an airtight container. Please put any compostable food in the kitchen compost and take that compost out to the outdoor compost every couple days, covering the compost with leaves or hay once it is disposed of. Brought my girlfriend here as a little surprise trip for her bday and she absolutely loved it!! I was a little nervous about the weather but it ended up being so cozy inside the Yurt with the snowfall outside. Such a nice and relaxing stay with wonderful hosts that accommodates to all of your needs. Was so relieving to be able to pack nice and light and just hangout. We had everything we needed! Awesome hosts and a an awesome place. Ed made sure we had plenty of wood the entire time and was always available if we needed anything!

2 nights at Glamping Tent Overlooking Waterfall

Sam’s got a really special place here! While not quite as private as I’d assumed (the sites are somewhat close together and near a road and you’d occasionally run into another guest at the toilets), the sound of the water from the waterfall drowns out almost all noise and you still feel like you’re in the middle of the woods. We stayed at the waterfall site with the bathtub, which we did not bathe in, but it was nice to have hot water on site to wash hands, brush teeth etc. The tent was cozy once we got the propane heater going and the added amenities (coffee maker, electric kettle, fire pit with an attached grill…) were nice. There’s even firewood onsite for purchase. Sam responded immediately when we had any questions or issues and was very helpful. Would absolutely stay again!

My bestie and I had a blast at the Waterfall campsite on Sam’s property. The waterfall was gorgeous, the firepit perfect and wonderful to cook on, the bed was comfy and the entire experience lovely. Sam is a gracious host. I highly recommend the site for people who are looking for something picturesque but not terribly rustic.

Weekend Trip to Glamping Tent Overlooking Waterfall

Really great little glamping spot. We loved how the tent was up on a platform, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The waterfall right next to the site was an added bonus. We loved wandering down by it. Good amount of privacy being that this site was set behind and down a small hill from the other sites. The bathtub and shower were amazing! Water got nice and hot, though you might want to bring something to hang in front of it if you are shy 😉. Sam was friendly and helpful, and kept to himself. The outhouses were very clean and not smelly at all. The firepit was a great size with a built-in grill grate for cooking. We had a really nice time hiking near Andes (25 min, beautiful drive) and having lunch in the quaint little town. There is also a bar/restaurant and some convenience stores and gas station right down the road in Downsville, but we did not visit. This is not deep woods camping, but was perfect for us. We will definitely go back one day in the future. Thanks Sam!!!

We arrived to a beautifully lit glamping experience for our one year wedding anniversary and it ended up being everything we hoped for! We loved going to sleep to the sound of the waterfall, and how otherwise quiet it was. Having hot water and a working propane stove made this feel so much more special than our usual camping trips. Wood was easy to find. Camp grill was solid too. Thanks Sam for all the hard work it takes to run this glamping operation.

Pictures alone can't compare to how gorgeous the property is. The sounds, the vegetation, the smells, etc. All wonderful. The accommodations were great. The tub/shower was glorious. The tent was spacious and warm with the gas heater. The grounds were well kept, and the bathrooms were a short walk away, down the path. Near the bathrooms, there was plenty of firewood to purchase for a very reasonable price. A very beautiful, sweet and kind cat named Cliff stands guard. The best part of the experience however, was Sam. His patience, his kindness, and willingness to accommodate whenever possible turned a great experience into an amazing one. 15/10. Would go back and recommend! Thanks, Sam!

You will not regret a stay at Mariaville Goat Farm!! Rick and Ed are the most gracious hosts I have ever met! They have such a beautiful sustainable farm and you would never expect the impeccable treats and food that was delivered by hand to our yurt! Just amazing!! And I cannot say enough about the goats! It was an amazing experience and I totally fell in love with all the goats (especially Audrey Hepburn and Iris) and Rick’s gentle demeanor!! The yurt was awesome and we had a blast. It may be off grid but so comfortable and welcoming! We took the goatie herd for a beautiful walk. I cannot say enough about the farm!! It was perfect!! I will definitely be booking again for next year!! It’s a must!!

I absolutely loved my stay! It was so easy to get to, and the custom welcome sign was the sweetest, homey touch. The tent was spotless, super cozy, and falling asleep to the sound of the waterfall was incredibly calming. Everything about the space made it so easy to relax and soak up some peaceful time in nature. The WiFi was a nice bonus too.. perfect for staying a little connected while still unplugging. Great site by a beautiful waterfall! Everything was nice and clean and was a great experience. Wood is for sale and it’s a good deal. Only downside was that the wooden hot tub was updated to a regular bath tub, but there is hot water and a shower which is a plus.

I was not expecting the level of hospitality that we received during this trip. I thought going “off grid” meant we would be roughing but man was I wrong! I was completely immersed in a cocoon of comfort and safety. Rick and Ed are the kindest souls who spoke softly as they showed us around and gave us helpful tips on how to interact with the goats and how to enjoy the yurt and property to the fullest. My friend and I took the goat herd for a walk on the trails and everything is well maintained but still completely natural. I laid on a yoga mat and rested with a warm breeze and 5 goats laid beside me and rested. It was so sweet. 🥹 There are beautiful sculptures throughout the property that are made with things that the world would call junk… they’ve turned each piece of “junk” into a work of art….vines intertwined, a slab of rock with smaller rocks and pine cones artfully placed, pieces of broken mirrors lining up along a ridge…stone creatures here and there…I don’t have enough space to list all of the interesting things that we saw! I highly recommend all of the meals, which are delivered right to your door and arranged beautifully. There was so much of everything. Do not bring snacks! You will not need them lol! The yurt itself is cozy and stocked with far more comforts than you can find in any 5 star hotel. I absolutely cannot wait to go back! I simply adore Mariaville Goat Farm!! ❤️

My husband and I had such a wonderful stay in the yurt. It’s beautifully decorated and very cozy. Rick and Ed are fantastic hosts and made us feel very welcome as soon as we stepped on the farm. My husband is a huge goat lover, and we absolutely loved interacting and hanging out with the goats. The whole experience was wonderful and we can’t wait to go back!

We stayed two nights and thought the yurt was lovely! Ed and Rick have created a very thoughtful, private, comfortable and peaceful space while providing very fresh and delicious food options. They were always available and accommodating making our stay laid back. They made sure we were always satisfied and were flexible with our needs. They made sure we were able to enjoy some goat time and yoga which was a highlight of the experience. Perfect place to enjoy some peace and quiet, fresh prepared meals, and relaxing vibes.
