It is a quiet, rural, farming area. Once at the cabin there are only two to three houses within a half mile (through the woods), so you will have a private space all your own. Winter camping is special - cozy wood heated cabin, hundreds of acres for snow shoeing, cross country skiing, or snowmobiling. Plan ahead, we do not plow the driveway in winter; plan to shovel an off-road parking space, and transport your gear up to the cabin (1100'). Wood is provided. Onsite: water pump, 2-seat outhouse, wood stove, campfire ring, wood, & propane grill. Exclusive access for nature hikes, streams, forest, pond, swimming, bird watching, star gazing, etc. A wheelchair that can navigate grass and some ruts can enter the cabin, but not the outhouse, and the sleeping loft is up stairs (there is room for a cot or mattress on the first floor); the porch is accessible through the cabin. When you book, you are confirming your understanding of the following: there is no electricity, running water, or std. bed/mattresses. You bring own air mattress, bedding, and gear you will need. All-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. We welcome special events, family reunions, or weddings, if your plans do not require utilities (you may bring a generator or other battery operated items, as needed). Note for winter guests: We do not plow the driveway in winter, you need to be ready to shovel an off-road parking spot, and transport gear to cabin (e.g. by sled, snowshoes) Here's a brief list of the basics to bring: Light source: Lantern propane or battery. Air mattress or cot and whatever bedding you need. Paper products (cups, plates, utensils, toilet paper, etc.) Matches/fire starter (there is wood on-site, and a propane grill for cooking that has a self-starter). Bug spray. Cooler and ice. Lawn chairs.  There are a few tables, several chairs and benches. There are 2 picnic tables (one outside and one inside). The benches can be moved outside if you'd like, just move them back inside before you leave. The propane grill should only be used outside. There is a hand axe in the cabin to shave kindling, and the wood is already split to be the length for the wood stove, as needed. Gas: 5 miles away. If you plan to grocery shop when you get to the area, the closest store is at East Hill Plaza in Ithaca, about 9 miles past where the cabin is (I can give you all that info if you like). There is lots to explore/see/do in the Ithaca area if you decide to come down off the hill one of the days. I'll have some brochures and things in the cabin, and can answer questions (aka where is the best ice cream, dinner, etc.).

Very close to town but also very secluded and private. Great place to unwind and relax from our everyday lives. It is situated however in a gully next to a creek and waterfall so it is susceptible to heavy rains. It is recommended to at least have an AWD vehicle if rainy. I can usually help campers with getting to the site in my side X side if you need to park up at the pasture. This former hunting cabin is on a 90-acre property that we are fixing up. It is surrounded by hundreds of acres of wild land, and involves a hike in on logging trails. Eventually we hope to conserve the land in perpetuity. The land was logged about 25 years ago and has regrown quite a bit. There are beautiful large maple, cherry, pine, and butternut trees, as well as young growth and wildflowers and diverse and abundant fungi. Our land is adjacent to the Finger Lakes Land Trust's King Preserve, so you will be camping in an area with 300 acres of forest and trails. It is also convenient to a diner, gas station, pizza/bar, a playground, fishing stream, and 2 ice cream stores (all walkable from the trailhead). Learn more about this land: This is an extremely rustic hunting cabin about a 15 - 30 minute (depending on hiker) hike up from the small village of Richford, NY. The hike is along old logging roads in the forest, but it's all uphill on the way in. We do not allow vehicle access to guests, but we have a vehicle we can use to deliver potable water (make sure to check with us to make sure we can provide extra water on the dates you need). There is a wood stove (for heat) and propane stove (for cooking). There is a triple decker bunk bed, you need to bring your own sleeping pad and sleeping bag. Weekend Trip to Round Top Retreat

I spent the weekend at Round Top Retreat alone to unplug, relax, and recharge and it was exactly what I needed. The wood burning stoves did an excellent job at heating the cabin. It got below 40° at night but it was probably 60° inside with the fire going. The stove is also great for cooking. It was a little rainy during my trip so I did all my cooking indoors. The driveway continues uphill past the cabin and turns into a hiking trail. I think it's supposed to connect to the Robinsons Hollow State Forest Trail but I couldn't find it (the official trial head is just down the road). It was still an invigorating 2 mile walk. I spotted lots of birds and a couple deer.

The cabin was a lovely retreat and had all the essentials and more needed for the two of us and our pup. Highly recommend the walk to the park waterfall. Also nice added touches to have a good space heater and corn hole set up available. Very easy to access Watkins Glen and nearby parks.

The cabin we stayed in is situated in a walnut grove beside a bubbly stream. On the last day, we checked out the waterfall at the end of the drive. Wow! Next time maybe I will forgo the cabin so I can sleep beside the tranquil sounds of the waterfall.

Weekend Trip to Round Top Retreat

Perfect getaway for myself and my two poodles. My only regret is that I only booked one night. We will be back for sure, hopefully this year if there are weekends still available. The cabin is incredibly charming and it smells so good! Not sure what I expected, maybe earthy, musty smell? It felt like home. I am not necessarily a hardy, “rugged” girl and I felt the accommodations were perfect. The sleeping loft is so beautiful with the sky lights and the large back porch is wonderful for early morning coffee while feeling immersed in nature. My dogs and I hiked through the goldenrod fields approximately one mile up the hill- great little workout for me. We went into the forest as well, found really beautiful moss-covered trees and stumps. My standard poodle is a swim-a-holic and spent more of her time retrieving from the pond and practicing her dock-diving distance. Surprisingly, I had great cell phone service everywhere I went on the property. Overall, stunning place with the warmest, most welcoming host, Nancy, and we cannot wait to be back there!!

We were lucky enough to have the whole space to ourselves, although the campsites are well spread out and definitely offer privacy. The cabin was beautiful, very clean, all of the amenities offered were there, and more. The creek was great to listen to until the sun went down, then two owl’s echoing through the darkness kept us company. The waterfall was just stunning. I’m glad some places are kept private and wild. Ken was very kind, and my goodness does he have a gorgeous property!!! I’ll be back to camp next to the waterfall no doubt!

Kevin's cabin was the perfect retreat for our family of four, 3 of whom love to camp, and one who likes to be surrounded by nature but is loathe to give up the comforts of home. The location is lovely and peaceful, with a beautifully laid out yard surrounded by woods. Everything is clean, comfortable, and well thought out in the house, which has all the amenities for a comfortable stay. The hot tub, fire pit, hammocks, and yard games were such wonderful touches to make our stay extra relaxing and memorable. Hope to return again!

Weekend Trip to Round Top Retreat

Had an enjoyable 3 nights here while in the area for the Cup Series race at Watkins Glen Intl. Definitely private. It's all yours to the top of the hill and there's a good buffer of forest between the cabin and the surrounding roads. The description and other reviews here are accurate. This is not glamping. It's camping, but with the convenience of solid walls, a roof over your head, and a wood stove for warmth. At least in early August, there were no biting bugs and minimal swarming bugs. Nothing a mosquito coil or Thermacell can't handle. It was cool in the shade even when the forecast was in the low 90's, but it does get hot in the cabin even with all the windows open. The solar shower is fun since you have little choice but to be naked out on the porch!

Weekend Trip to Waterfall Creek

Ken was an amazing host! The property is beautiful and even though there were others camping nearby, the cabin still felt private. The cabin itself is even better than I imagined- “rustic romantic” was what I wanted and exactly what we got! Inside was spacious but cozy, perfect for me and my boyfriend plus our two dogs. The sleeper sofa was way more comfortable than we expected and the place had so many sweet little amenities including extra pillows, a fan, tie out for the dog, an axe for wood, shop vac (nice to stay on top of the dog hair!) and even the outhouse was decent. We would highly recommend this cabin and Ken as a host!

Weekend Trip to Waterfall Creek

We loved everything about staying at the Waterfall Creek Cabin! Ken was an amazing host with great communication! Property is even better than photos can show - waterfalls is so beautiful and only a short distance from the cabin and there is a creek running right beside the site. Cabin had a ceiling fan, tv (which we never used because the property was so beautiful) and a super comfy sleeper sofa. We ordered a couple packs of wood and they were under the covered porch when we arrived. We like to cook all meals over the fire and Ken even let us use his tripod and grate. Ken thanks for a peaceful and relaxing weekend and we hope to be back soon!!!

2 nights at Dark Sky Retreat

It’s perfect. Clearly the hosts themselves use and love this place. The kitchen is super well equipped, the hot tub is easy to use and soooo relaxing. The mountainside is quiet and thickly forested; bugs not so bad: tons of firewood and a great setup for sitting quietly outside in every kind of weather.Beds are super, everything is super!
