My partner and I loved this cute cabin , right next to Lake Erie! It’s a great size, very clean, and had all the amenities we needed for the start of our cross country trip back home , including a buddy heater for the cold night. Thank you so much for the extra blankets too! We were perfectly snug. We wish we could have spent another night. We got gluten free pizza at Villaggio Italiano, which is right down the road — it was delicious! Couldn’t recommend this spot more!

Absolutely amazing! Above and beyond! Brian our host was wonderful! Always available. The details inside and outside of the cabin were spectacular. The mowed path was an extra bonus, the beautiful art work on the path, the super comfortable bed, the sweet arrival goodies bag and cleanliness. I cannot wait to return!!

We loved our stay. The cabin is perfect. We did not mind being close to the road or the tracks. Everything was very wooded and felt private. close to town and right by the lake. The cabin had a bunch of amenities that were not mentioned such as a gas grill and an indoor cooktop, lanterns, a cooler etc. Very well set up. We will stay again.

Weekend Trip to Lake Of The Woods Cabin Camp HST
We loved our stay at Brian’s cabin. It was a perfect spot for a last minute getaway. We loved the decor and record player - we had a good mix of what was available and brought some of our own to spin too. The spot was between two houses but still felt private and secluded. Our dogs enjoyed themselves aside from some nearby fireworks around dusk, which thankfully didn’t last long. We really enjoyed being able to relax and watch all the birds and butterflies around the meadow during the day and enjoyed the fire at night. It’s conveniently located to the town park/beach and grocery store. The cabin had everything we needed and more. They even left us a little gift to make s’mores. We’ve already recommended to our friends and I’m sure we’ll be back soon!

Me and my dog went out for just a night, the owners were so nice and helpful. The cabin is so nice and cozy inside and the record player and albums were amazing.. nothing like the Beatles and Neil Diamond to clear your head. They had everything you need if you didn’t bring anything. Great little getaway and I felt very safe. Take a trip you’ll love it

Words cannot describe how amazing this location is. The hosts went out of their way to make this a welcoming overnight experience. We had wood for the fire, a fun gift bag full of everything we needed for s’mores, a camp chair, camp stove, food just in case, spices, a record player with tons of albums, a very clean porta potty and so much more. The bed was so comfortable and the location perfect for our overnight . Thank you again.

The Amish cabin was such a relaxing, little hidden gem. Well furnished and solar powered! Host was amazing, friendly, and easy to communicate with. Such a short walking distance to grocery, small beach/bay area with gorgeous views of lake Erie. You can adventure on the land and check out some unique sculptures, beautiful pollinator gardens, and sunset views! The deli was recommended by host for a great spot for the Thai chili wings, which were absolutely delicious. Would definitely stay again for a recharge.

We loved camping at Brian and destiny's small cabin, it was delightful, we were able to stay warm the bed was comfortable, and the host and hostess for the mostest. They were really great they went above and beyond and helped us have a really great time. We can't say enough, can't wait to return.

1 night at Lake Of The Woods Cabin Camp HST
I had a really lovely stay at The Lake of the Woods. I booked last minute and check in was smooth and easy and the host was very communicative and kind. The cabin is peaceful and secluded enough where I felt I had my privacy. There is noise from the road so if you are looking for total silence, this will likely not work for you. That being said, it did not bother me at all and I am a fairly light sleeper. I felt the noise from the birds and the train to balance everything out and I enjoyed the soundtrack. The cabin has all the necessities (cookware, handheld lanterns, Jackery, porta potty, etc.) and then some. I didn’t get to try the record player but thought that was a really sweet touch. The host left a propane heater since it was fairly cold the night I stayed but with an extra wool blanket I brought, I slept perfectly without it. The bed is also quite comfortable. The host also left a care package. The cabin is a short drive to many Lake Erie beaches and lookouts that I explored on my way back home. The cabin would be a really nice place to settle in after a day at the beach. I would definitely recommend The Lake of the Woods to anyone looking for a spacious and peaceful place to relax with just the perfect amount of creature comforts and nature for your stay. It was a great stay! Very peaceful, close to the lake. Right across from the boat launch, too!! Gillian offered me a grill to use as well as a cot for my friend! The cabin was neat, and clean. Seems brand new! Very cozy feel. It was also nice interacting with the Cows in the field next to us. The pups were very curious. There was also several nice yard chairs for use as well as a table with an umbrella. Would certainly stay again when I’m back in the area.

My weekend stay at Lake of the Woods Cabin was extremely comfortable and charming thanks to Brian and Destiny’s hospitality. The record player sold me on it in the pictures and the music vibe was just what I needed. I love the sound of a train whistle - there were many trains that went by. The spring peepers lulled me to sleep at night. I sat on the cabin porch, read a book, and listened to the rain and the birds (it rained all weekend). The hosts left a small care package and extra towels for my dogs’ muddy feet and the handwritten note was such a nice gesture. The hosts were extremely accessible and responsive if I needed anything. Nice hiking trails and access to Lake Erie are all close by. It was such an enjoyable weekend that exceeded my expectations!

Super cozy little cabin! Interesting decor, excellent records, comfy bed and very thoughtful accommodating hosts. It was very clean and they had several kitchen utensils and clean grill. Bedding was also provided.
The cabin is set far back from the road, but you will hear traffic, it does die down at night. And we loved hearing the trains!

Where to go
Allegany State Park
On the north end of the reservoir, Allegany State Park offers 65,000 acres of rare, old growth forest, two lakes, and rugged terrain with plenty of trails for hiking, biking, and snowmobiling. Two developed areas—Quaker and Red House—offer more than 300 campsites, 350 cabins (142 winterized), and eight cottages. Amenities include swim beaches, playgrounds, playing fields, boat and bike rentals, and boat launches. Just west of the state park, in the Enchanted Mountains of New York, Onoville Marina Park offers nearly 100 seasonal and transient camping sites, some right along the shores of the reservoir.
Allegany Indian Reservation
The northwestern part of the reservoir is surrounded by the Allegany Reservation of the Seneca Nation of Indians, which also includes several towns, the city of Salamanca, and the Seneca-Allegany Casino. Campers can stay at the Highbanks Campground, across the reservoir from Allegany State Park’s Quaker Area. Options include tent sites and RV sites with water and 30-amp electric hookups, picnic tables, and fire pits, along with spacious cabins and chalets, and amenities that include a boat launch, pool, picnic areas, and playground.
Allegheny National Forest
A mecca for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, the forest features 10 developed campgrounds. Willow Bay, Dewdrop, Kiasutha, and Red Bridge are the closest to the reservoir, and together offer more than 400 tent sites, RV sites, and rustic cabins. Most sites include picnic tables and fire rings, while many RV sites offer hookups and a dump station. For the best views, book a waterfront site or stay at a boat-in campground, such as Hopewell, Pine Grove, or Hooks Brook. With more than 500,000 acres, there’s plenty of space for dispersed camping.
