Camp With is an endeavor to connect more people with the distinct features the high desert landscape has to offer and ultimately foster growth with ones relationship to nature. Bring your own everything (tent, sleeping bag, pillow, towels ) and come camp! We used to have tents which are in most of the images and reviews. No longer offering tents as an option. We are doing several small permaculture projects sprinkled throughout the land. There is a chance you could run into us building or planting something on the far side of the 15-acre property, but we like to give our guests privacy, peace, and quiet (how we would want to be treated ☺️). The unpaved road to the campsite is 3 miles and filled with stones, hence our street name, Stoney Road. We highly recommend a vehicle with clearance as there are some rocks on the road that are "oil pan busters." There are no street lights on the dirt road; we recommend arriving at the site during the day. After rainfall and during the monsoon season (May-September), the road can be very muddy. We don’t want you getting stuck. Let’s be honest here: high clearance and or 4x4 on your vehicle is recommended. There is a communal composting outhouse as your bathroom during your stay. We have an open air seasonal hot outdoor shower. (mid June-mid October) The greywater from your bathing feeds the plants. No toxic soaps please! We remind you that this is a rural off-grid campsite: there is no electricity. There is no tent. We have created this space for you to connect with your loved ones and enjoy being outside. The closest restaurants are in Cerrillos and Madrid, 8 miles away. You are responsible for your safety, tent, food, towels, water, ice, and relaxation. Come enjoy the impeccable views, INSANELY spectacular stars, and a genuinely unique, curated, off-grid camping experience. 4 nights at Juniper Mesa Camp

What a magical place! The views are truly stunning in every direction. So many colors and forms. The place feels so private because of the numerous juniper, but Kate is nearby, responsive, and so generous and kind if you need anything. The yurt kitchen includes a cooler, camp stove, pot, manual coffee maker, small kettle, coffee, tea, oil, salt, pepper, two sets of cutlery, a small knife, and two plates, bowls, and mugs. Kate provides drinking water and wash water/basin - very helpful! I would absolutely stay again except in the height of summer. There is little shade and the yurt can get warm in the sun if there’s not a good wind for a cross breeze. I’m really glad I had a chance to stay here, and I’m so appreciative that Kate has this listing!

An incredible experience I had staying here— the feeling of calm and carefully cultivated natural peace is unmatched. There are so many wonderful places to sit and enjoy the trees and the birds, or to enjoy a delicious coffee, or to have a giggly conversation with a friend or partner. The hosts of this land are phenomenal human beings, complete with wonderful stories and kind words and dazzling smiles. I will absolutely be bringing the people I love most back to this spot with me, so that they too can experience the magic. Already counting down the days until I am able to return—hopefully in the summer, when the fruit trees have blossomed. :)

Second visit was as enjoyable as the first. Saw elk in the meadow at sunrise, heard birdsong down by the stream, and watched several wild rabbits hop around the bushes. Also enjoyed the quiet and private campsite.

We loved it! Leonard was very helpful keeping an eye on the weather on the afternoon we were coming as thunderstorms were possible. He suggested a different campsite than the one we booked for the better access and he was spot on! He checked in to see how we were doing as well. But what really stands out for this place is the absolutely gorgeous scenery all around and the sheer quiet of it all. We enjoyed the birds, the sunrise and the two elk that wandered by early in the morning. And for our dogs, the ability to be off leash was heaven for them. Highly recommend but be prepared for narrow dirt in if you are pulling a travel trailer like we were. It was a tight squeeze with traffic coming the other way in a couple of places but everyone was super nice about finding ways around us.

We tent camped 2 nights at Star Dance Camp. The location is beautiful. The open air showers had plenty of hot water, the bathrooms were very clean, the kitchen had everything you could possibly need for cooking, and the yoga yurt has yoga mats available for you to use, and appears to be accessible 24/7. Such great amenities to have when tent camping! The campsites are rustic, and each have their positives and potential negatives. We stayed at site 6, which was further away from the beautiful views, but is the only one that you can drive right up to, so we didn’t have to haul our gear in. The other campsites you must walk in to, but they are more protected from the wind and particularly sites 7, 5, and 4 have a beautiful view of the canyon, you are literally on the edge of it. Due to the natural geology of the area, pounding tent stakes in can be difficult, some sites appear to have more surface rock than others. If you have any difficulties or questions, the staff on site are friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful stay, and I enthusiastically recommend Star Dance Camp. I hope to return for a longer stay in the future.

I fell in love with this place the moment I arrived. So magical. The views for days, and the creativity in the yurt were all so amazing. I even enjoyed a short outdoor shower with a view!! Kate is so welcoming and kind. This is a must do, especially if you're into a dark night sky!! I also enjoyed reading one of the books that was in the yurt (and I do not take time to read a lot). Ever so grateful for my time spent time there. Many thanks!

I felt welcomed and appreciated. After a taxing couple days in the wilds of NM, this yurt was the perfect spot to rest, reflect, and recover. I hope to return again someday.

This is a lovely rustic experience. I am camper at heart and this is the perfect inbetween for a Glamp Camp experience. The road up the mountain is steep but doable. I made it up in my old loaded SUV easy. Just take it slow it’s bumpy. The yurt is spacious and dreamy. Kate had a great eclectic vibe. The camp kitchenette was humble and charming. You can expect fresh drinking water and little pot to wash your dishes. There is a little propane rocket stove to heat your water for coffee and she supplies a cooler but you have to byob ice. 🧊 I stayed on a cool night and the propane heater kept us warm. I piled the blankets on thick and turned it off around midnight to avoid any CO2 issues. When I got up at dawn the yurt was cold! But it didn’t take long for that tiny propane heater to warm things up again. Outside there is a composting bucket toilet. If you really wanted to you could probably leave the door open for a poo with a view. The shower area is modest and breezy. I didn’t take one as my bucket of water was cold and I was in a hurry to head out. I brought my pup and Kate’s dog 🐕 and my pup played so well. Late evening showed me a great hike. I’m so grateful for my stay ! Lots of rest and rest and reset. Thanks Kate.

Learn more about this land:We have simple accessible flat camping tent sites that are drive up and walk-in depending on your needs for privacy and access. There is a shaded cottonwood grove or sunnier spots depending on the season. The canyon is in the foothills of the Sangres and there is a seasonal creek that runs through the land. Family friendly! Private disc golf course is on property. We are approximately 5 miles from I-25 exit and 17 miles from center of Santa Fe.
