Beautiful area. But I would prefer the camping area be fenced to keep livestock out. Lots of cow dung and the bugs to go with it. Had a few fresh patties that my dogs rolled in. Otherwise is a very quiet pretty place. I would love to make it a frequent stop if the cow dung situation was better.

We had a terrific 2-night stay. This place is remote, private, quiet, and peaceful, with a lovely babbling brook and a sky full of stars.

We stayed in camp site #2: This was a nice secluded camp site right on a small creek. We brought everything, so we did not use the facilities. So I can’t review. This location is pretty remote. Carla’s Directions were clear once we got them. Save yourself a lot of hassle and don’t go up there unless you have her written directions in hand. Cell service in the area is inconsistent at best. Google Maps is not up to date and will direct you up a very steep fire road requiring 4WD. Once you get to the top, the road it is closed due to fire damage from a year ago. Also all roads in the area are numbered, there are no road names posted. so look for the green verticals road signs.

We’ve stayed here 3 times now! Absolutely perfect place and super secluded. Best sleep ever, and got to wake up to a great view! Would 100% recommend.

We stayed at River camp 2. The campsite was clean. There was Woods’ Rose blooming which smelled amazing. The River frontage provided a white noise sound however if one was wanting to hear more of the wildlife I would recommend setting up camp a little further away from the river bank. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay 6/7-15 2024.

Overall we had a good time at this spot. There is plenty of space and the property is beautiful. The river was not flowing, but Carla let us know that the acequia was being repaired upstream. My biggest (and only) complaint is that Carla stopped by the campsite at 8pm unannounced to fix the pit toilet. While she is very kind, this took away from the feeling of the site being private.

This place was so magical! We were a bit apprehensive with driving out on the long driveway but once we got there the spot was so glorious. We could see so many stars, there was still some snow on the ground, but we found a perfect dry patch to set up camp. It got pretty cold but we did great & even enjoyed a campfire dinner & breakfast in the morning. The babbling brook behind us was so peaceful to wake to & the massive trees are a sight to be behold! Thank you for allowing us to stay here. This was an unforgettable trip for our family!

Overall nice camp site with the stream next to it. However, in site #2 there is a toilet that is shared between the two camp sites. If there is someone staying at site #1 they will be coming into site #2 to use the toilet. We were not aware of this and led to being surprised seeing other people walking into our site. Our dog didn’t like this very much.

We absolutely loved it here. We slept great with the creek right next to us and no other campers in sight. 👍🏻
The fire pit was well made and there was plenty of flat space for our 2 tents (our big dog needs his own tent 😂).
We had cell service too (T-mobile) so we could be reached in case of an emergency.

This place was absolutely breathtaking and exactly what I needed to destress! There was a lovely creek running around the campsite, a fire pit (with grill grate) and a table available for use. My two dogs and I spent some time walking through the woods, enjoying the abundant wildlife. This was so peaceful and I can’t wait to go again!
My only complaint would be for the previous campers…pick up your trash before you leave!

This was a great getaway! The campsite was large, clean and easily accessible. The river flows right next to the site, which makes it incredibly relaxing. The owners are extremely friendly and even have cuts of meat and fresh in season produce from the market in town. We will definitely be back!

Very nice spot to camp! Loved the privacy. We brought our 4 wheeler and explored the forest roads. The host is nice and helpful. River camp 2 is definitely better than camp 1 of you want to enjoy the water, but both sites are wonderful. Plenty of room and plenty of shade. We will definitely be back.

The road is really rough going in for a few hundred yards…. Would be tough for a large rig.

The site was absolutely beautiful! So peaceful. I enjoyed stargazing at night followed by a memorable morning hike. My only complaint would be the late response from Clara, but she gave me helpful directions that led me straight to the property before that. I would stay again 😊

Absolutely beautiful spot. Directions were perfect and the campsite was easy to find. Just stopped for the night so didn’t have enough time to look around but the drive in and out alone was gorgeous. Big thanks to Carla! Excellent host, excellent spot.

While there is a county-maintained dirt road alongside the site and the town of Mora is just a few miles away, this is indeed a retreat. There is River Camp 1 and River Camp 2 (unmarked). I reserved River Camp 1 and loved every moment. River Camp 1 is located off of the river but the rushing river/stream was still easily accessible through the gate and around. There is a another dirt road that cuts through the property and I learned it is for access to an amazing working ranch up on the ridge. You can walk up the road or, preferably, take the cattle trail up the side of the ridge overlooking River Camp 1, for a stunning view of the snow-topped Sangre de Cristo mountains recovering from the the devastating fire, and a few back steps and over to a a surprising overlook of one of the most beautiful working ranches I have seen. All in all, you are left alone to your thoughts and deep privacy. An awesome place.

Perfect location for a night or weekend camping experience from Santa Fe. About 2 hours drive up the high road towards Taos.
We really enjoyed our night staying at Site 1. We went for a small hike up the long drive and discovered site 2 which is actually on the river. If we come back we would choose camping site 2. If you’re looking for a secluded and quiet place, this is perfect. No amenities and no internet/cell service.
