Carter's Cross Country Ski Center and Shop has been a family-owned business since 1984. The land on which the trails have been built on has been in the Carter family since the late 1700's. The first Carter who came to Bethel was the first doctor in the area that helped Mollyocket, a Native American medicine woman.
All the different generations that came along after were either farmers or loggers or both. Carter's XC Ski Center is located on the banks of the Big Androscoggin River. Our private established skiing/walking trails meander through the Maine woods all the way up to Farwell Mountain, overlooking Sunday River Ski, the Presidential and Mahoosuc Mountain Ranges and Mt. Washington. Nearby is Middle Intervale Farm, owned by John Carter, who produces his own vegetables and meat. He has a small, self-serve farm stand right on Intervale Road, next to Carter's.

Welcome to Lulu's. Where you can get a little crazy under the moon or you can take in the peace and serenity of the stillness in the woods. Depends on what you are looking for! No neighbors to infringe on your ideal get away. The large cabin has a welcoming front porch to enjoy the amazing sunrises over Streaked Mtn. 100 acres of privacy to hike, watch wildlife and just relax. Cabin has outside facilities. Off the grid-no electric or running water. Cell service is adequate. 1 gallon of fresh well water provided for drinking and 10 gallons for washing/cooking.
Bring your own linens for a queen size bed, twin bunk beds and a full pull out couch. 2 pillows are supplied with a pillow protective cover and pillow case which are washed after each guest. Pots, pans and utensils, are onsite which are washed between campers; trash bags, compost bags, paper towels, dish soap, dish towels and a 2 burner propane stove(green canisters needed) and an older propane table top grill are provided. Camp fire grill on site if you prefer cooking over open flame. There are some battery operated light switches and solar lights in the camp and outhouse. Downtown Norway has quaint shops to browse! Norway Lake has a public beach and boat dock. Many hiking trails nearby-Noyes Mtn, Patch Mnt, Singpole and Streaked Mtn to name a few. ATV trails (also can be used for off-road biking)onsite connect with other towns for many miles and hours of riding. Plenty of lakes/rivers for kayaking. Casino, race track and breweries for night life. Oxford Hills has much to offer.

We live on 75 acres of woods and hay fields. Larry is a self-taught hay-farmer since we moved from the mid-west in 2007. The property was a fallow dairy farm from the 70's. It used to be called
Common View Farm. We hear the name came from the fact that we can see the Craftsbury Common from the height of the property.
Legend holds that people have seen strange lights and orbs in the area. It may just be a yarn told by the locals to the new flatlanders. I have never noticed anything of the sort and I have been looking. Who doesn't like a good New England ghost story?
Larry farms about 30 acres of the property; square bales for horses. The rest are woods. We have our own old mare, Ruby, which gave Larry the haying idea. She has two goat buddies, Danny-Boy and Brownie (guess what color he is?). Our dog, Tinker, runs the land and loves dog friends as well as humans.
Our views are of the Lowell Mountains closest and the Green Mountains in the distance. You can see the Lowell wind farm on the horizon. We have a large garden and raspberry patch. When in season, you are free to pick! The house on the property, Larry built. It's a beauty. He also has two shops and some barns. No shortage of farm implements. You are welcome to walk to your heart's content and to visit Ruby and the boys.

The Northwoods Gypsy Wagon is a 3-minute walk into the woods from the parking area. You can have all the solitude you'd like or visit the nearby towns. In this off-grid wagon, you will have an indoor cooking stove (2 burner propane) and a propane stove for the cooler nights but no running water, therefore no indoor plumbing. Fresh water, battery operated lights, solar panel which provides one lamp and a place to plug in your phone, coffee/tea set ups. Wi-Fi/cell cov is not available. There is a privy exclusively for the wagon and a place for a cold-water wash up.
This is truly tiny space, however; sleeps 2 adults. You will have a table and chairs for a sit down chat or meal. In the dryer months fire-burning may be ill-advised or outright prohibited, you'll be advised.

My husband, myself, and our two dogs had a blast during our stay! We didn’t even go anywhere because we were having such a great time just exploring the property/nearby trails. It was a little cold at night but the heat in the RV kept us toasty and we had an endless supply of firewood for the days! We used the kitchen to cook our meals and there seriously was everything and more that we could’ve needed. Our dogs especially enjoyed the waterfall - there were quite a few people on the trail the first day we walked there but significantly less the second day. Highly recommend staying here! There was lots of privacy and nature, a little cell service for texts but not streaming which for us was exactly what we wanted. A truly fantastic getaway for a few days.

Lulu’s cabin is in a beautiful location, surrounded by nature. We even had a doe grazing just 50 feet away for almost an hour! Our dog loved it too, and there are endless great hiking options within an hour’s drive. We had a wonderful stay!

The location was easy to locate and access. My dog and I were able to drive up and down the hill without issue. The area was all setup so perfectly. The fire pit area was beautiful and safely tucked up away from the cabin, with the outhouse on the opposite side. Waking up to a sunrise like this one was unforgettable. The night sky was so beautiful and so clear. It's was an exceptional experience to say the least! My dog and I are excited to come back again soon and spend more time out on the trails, that are only steps away from the front porch. ❤️

What a beautiful spot! I stayed in the Avion camper which had all the amenities for cooking , washing and comfort. The waterfalls are right in your back yard! Vinny was extremely kind and helpful. Vinny respects your privacy and only stops by once to collect trash. He was able to help guide me in the right direction for enjoying the waterfalls and good places to float on the river.

I almost hate to leave a review because I want to keep this little piece of heaven all to ourselves. Gorgeous views and just rustic enough, but still with key comforts. Cozy beds, cook ware essentials, outdoor "kitchen" station with a killer view, quirky little touches, and a great porch. The chipmunks (red squirrels?) kept our dog very busy "hunting". No worries, she didn't catch anything, they just teased her with their chirping. We watched the full moon come up over the trees and cooked dinner over the fire. Can't wait to come back!

We had a great stay. It was entirely too short! It's such a peaceful, beautiful spot and super dog friendly. My teens and dogs enjoyed checking out the waterfall, as well as meandering around Bristol. It's a cute tiny town. No cell service at the site, but it forces you to fully unplug. I'll take the sound of a waterfall over non-stop Slack notifications. ;) Vinnie was welcoming and there if needed, but didn't hover which I appreciated. The place was clean and just as pictured.

We had a wonderful stay in this cool retro camper! The location was absolutely beautiful—peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by nature. It was the perfect place to unplug and unwind, especially with no cell service or tech to distract us.
The camper itself had so much charm and character, and it was a fun and cozy space for our little family. Our toddler loved the adventure of it all, and we enjoyed exploring the local sights nearby.

We loved our stay! Vinny met us upon arrival and provided great directions to the site. From fresh linens to amazing florist and restaurant recommendations, everything about this stay was great. Bristol is a beautiful little town with lots to explore. Only a 30 minute drive from Weirs Beach which has lots to do.
Or not! Vinny provided plenty of firewood, a screened in picnic table, loungers, a hammock, and plenty to keep you occupied. We didnt have cell service and there isn't wifi (which we knew) so we downloaded shows to watch at night and screamed to the new smart TV in the bedroom. Will definitely be on our list to stay at again if we're ever back. Maybe at Vinny's chalet! Cheers!

We loved being serenaded by the Profile Falls! Vinny’s place feels like a “treehouse” among the trees, and very private while also being so close to town and other amenities. The falls were a big hit with the park being a couple minutes drive and easily accessible for younger hikers. Highly recommend Vinny’s place if you are looking for quiet time away to recharge and relax!

Where to go
White Mountain National Forest
Mere miles from Twin Mountain, White Mountain National Forest comprises over 800,000 acres of rugged terrain. Covered in hardwoods and conifers, White Mountain is a popular destination for hikers and backpackers of all skill levels who want to see the forest’s amazing sights, including the Appalachian Trail. Camping options abound in the forest with several managed campgrounds spread over Androscoggin, Pemigewassett, and Saco Ranger Districts. Find various amenities in each campground, including flush toilets, faucets, and hot showers, along with hookups for RVs.
Umbagog Lake State Park
About 70 miles northwest of Twin Mountain lie the southern shores of Umbagog Lake, home of Umbagog Lake State Park. The park offers a scenic lakeside camping experience with plenty of canoeing, kayaking, and swimming opportunities. At the western shore, Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge provides a unique habitat for diverse wildlife, including moose, waterfowl, and bald eagles. Then, set up at the park’s base campground that has two cabins and 27 campsites with electrical and water hookups, along with 33 remote campsites and four remote cabins around the lake. The base campground is also outfitted with flush and pit toilets, coin-op showers, and a camp store.
Mount Blue State Park
About 90 miles east across the New Hampshire-Maine border lies Mount Blue State Park. The largest state park in Maine, Mount Blue comprises about 8,000 acres with Webb Lake at its center. The park is tucked within the Western Mountains and offers year-round recreation, from guided canoe trips and walks in summer to sledding and cross-country skiing in winter. The park manages its own campground with over 130 campsites equipped with flush toilets, showers, and potable water. The campground has both reservable and first-come, first-served RV campsites with electric and water hookups, as well as a nearby boat launch.
When to go
Summer months are the most popular time of year in Twin Mountain. July is typically the hottest month with an average high of 76°F. In fall, campers can see the changing foliage, while wintertime campers will enjoy snow activities. February sees a high of 25°F and low of 8°F, with an average 17.44 feet of snow. Although many parks in the area stay open in the offseason, they may have closed facilities and less maintenance.
