It is on this property that I saw my first grouse. Also look for warblers-notably Audubon's and the Hermit Warblers- along with the White-headed Woodpecker. You will likely hear a Pileated Woodpecker and if you are lucky you will see one Learn more about this land: Welcome to Sugarpine Slopes. The Sugarpine has the longest cones in the world and many birds and mammals like the pine nuts and use the tree for habitat. This is a spring through fall place only. There is no winter access. The property is at 5800 feet.  Depending on the weather the road may close from Nov 15th to May 15th.  The road on the property is a dirt road.  All wheel drive or 4WD vehicles recommended although the lower section could be accessed by most vehicles. Shorter trailers allowed at Site A. Site 3 can also accommodate a small teardrop-style trailer The property is totally undeveloped at this time. It is a wildlife corridor for deer and bear (keep all food contained), the mountain quail and the blue grouse. Keep your eyes open for the Hermit Warbler, Audubon's Warbler, and our gorgeous visitor from the tropics the Western Tanager. You are likely to hear the Pileated Woodpecker and if you are lucky you will see it and its red crest in an undulating flight through the trees. The property has a lovely west facing slope which climbs gradually at first then more steeply to the top of the property. We have drive-in camping on the lower section.  There is one walk-in site at the top of the property. There is wonderful hiking nearby with several trailheads in the area within approximately 4 miles.  More information can be provided upon request.

Cute little cabin nestled in Tahoe National forest . This little gem is on an acre of land surrounded by national forest land. Close enough to Lake Tahoe to get to but also away from the Tahoe chaos. Host lives on property , but will most likely be out and about most of the day. There are two neighbors but both own 20 acres so you can not see them, feels very private. The front of the property where the cabin is located there will be some highway noise being close to highway 20 , especially during a busy weekend. you can’t hear highway noise while in the cabin and towards the back of the land. However it is nice to be so close to highway 20 because it leads to several different destinations. ( west : Nevada city. east: towards Tahoe, and both directions there are soo many lakes/ rivers ) Tiny house: •Full sized futon downstairs and king sized mattress in loft. Electric fireplace, all the game boards , cards, chess, fire pit, projector for movies if requested!!! •Additional guests are welcome to pitch a tent on the land if needed. •Hot plate, toaster oven, mini fridge, kitchen appliances, coffee (French press, drip, mocha pot). Weekend Trip to Sugarpine Slopes at Grouse Ridge

We loved our stay! Helen was so kind and helpful which was much appreciated as novice campers. The local hikes she recommended were top notch and doable with two kids. We camped in the fall and nights were chilly, but the days were pleasant and the landscape with the changing colors was stunning. The space felt safe to stay with my two kids and we left feeling empowered to camp again!

We stayed here to celebrate my husband’s birthday with our 9-month-old, and it was such a wonderful experience. We loved that we could upgrade provisions, we used the propane tank for the fire pit and the pour-over coffee setup, which came with freshly roasted beans (amazing!). The whole place has this relaxing, no-nonsense vibe that we really appreciated. We went during the fall, and it was so beautiful seeing the vines changing color. The electric blanket made our night cozy and comfortable even when it got chilly. Aaron was outstanding. His hospitality, knowledge, and genuine passion for his craft really stood out. We enjoyed wine tasting, hanging out in the “vincade,” and my husband watched a bit of Monday Night Football! The wine was fantastic, and we were so impressed we ended up joining the wine club. The yurt was spacious and comfy, the bed was great, and there was plenty of room for our daughter to crawl around. The portapotty was clean, and everything felt thoughtfully maintained. Just an overall relaxing, memorable trip. Can’t wait to come back!

Still love this place. I love how quiet it is and honestly how eerie it can be. But that's just the kind of hiker and camper that I am. I love the fact that it was easy to find the outhouse easy to get there. Easy to just be in the area and to enjoy this property. I cannot wait to come back again

Weekend Trip to Sugarpine Slopes at Grouse Ridge

This was a great secluded camping area. We went in mid October so we had the place to ourselves. The pups enjoyed the ability to be off leash. We enjoyed the proximity to different lakes. It was so quiet we could hear the wings flap on the birds flying overhead. The sites have good space and it is nice to have the out house even with a trailer. Would definitely go again.

Weekend Trip to River Oaks Camp

Glamping at the yurt at River Oaks Camp was a peaceful getaway on a lovely property with impromptu visits by deer, turkeys, woodpeckers and toads. Wonderful hosts, friendly dogs, and engaging farm animals, and the river would have been terrific on a hot summer day. Apple Hill farms and businesses are a short drive away. Recommended.

We loved our 2nd stay at this spot! It’s so peaceful and comfortable in the yurt. The owner is over accommodating and his wines are top tier!! Close to all the other wineries near by, would stay here again and again. Oh also the sunsets are majestic.

Perfect space for family camping trip. Water, electricity, and wifi available 🤩 Jason, our host, was very accommodating and answered any questions we had. This spot is also close to a really nice lake! About 15-20 min walk to the lake or 5min by car.

We loved this place. We stayed here two nights, one night with a toddler and our dog, and second night joined by four more family members who booked the other tent spot. Aaron was amazing, and took time out of his very busy day to make sure we were comfortable and had everything, and to give us a very generous wine and cider tasting, with lots of stories and generally just a nice hang. The camp spots are on the top of a small hill with plenty of trees to provide shade and privacy. Gorgeous views over the vineyard and of the sunset.

What a great campground! Plenty of space for you and your friends to set up tents with enough space in between for privacy even! Porta-potty was clean and well-maintained. Plenty of branches and wood you can grab around for a campfire, and you can even buy some from Jason if you prefer the convenience. Easy to find and great communication with Jason as well. And access to the cute lake is definitely a plus! Love the outdoor shower as well but the addition of a small curtain for extra privacy would be extra perfect! All in all it was a great home base for our Winnemuca lake hike; highly recommended!

Weekend Trip to River Oaks Camp

magical spot. I will definitely be back. The New flushing toliet was a major glamping perk. Id say bring ear plugs just in case of barking dogs at night as sound carries in a valley (this is typical for a farm/neighbors to have working dogs staying alert for wildlife etc). Hosts were so dang sweet and the River was beyond perfect for a full day of swimming and relaxation. The steep hike back up to the yurt from the river was quick but could be a challenge for those with mobility issues etc. so pack light to the river. Don't miss this well cared for Oasis!
