It is on this property that I saw my first grouse. Also look for warblers-notably Audubon's and the Hermit Warblers- along with the White-headed Woodpecker. You will likely hear a Pileated Woodpecker and if you are lucky you will see one Learn more about this land: Welcome to Sugarpine Slopes. The Sugarpine has the longest cones in the world and many birds and mammals like the pine nuts and use the tree for habitat. This is a spring through fall place only. There is no winter access. The property is at 5800 feet.  Depending on the weather the road may close from Nov 15th to May 15th.  The road on the property is a dirt road.  All wheel drive or 4WD vehicles recommended although the lower section could be accessed by most vehicles. Shorter trailers allowed at Site A. Site 3 can also accommodate a small teardrop-style trailer The property is totally undeveloped at this time. It is a wildlife corridor for deer and bear (keep all food contained), the mountain quail and the blue grouse. Keep your eyes open for the Hermit Warbler, Audubon's Warbler, and our gorgeous visitor from the tropics the Western Tanager. You are likely to hear the Pileated Woodpecker and if you are lucky you will see it and its red crest in an undulating flight through the trees. The property has a lovely west facing slope which climbs gradually at first then more steeply to the top of the property. We have drive-in camping on the lower section.  There is one walk-in site at the top of the property. Weekend Trip to Sugarpine Slopes at Grouse Ridge

We loved our stay! Helen was so kind and helpful which was much appreciated as novice campers. The local hikes she recommended were top notch and doable with two kids. We camped in the fall and nights were chilly, but the days were pleasant and the landscape with the changing colors was stunning. The space felt safe to stay with my two kids and we left feeling empowered to camp again!

Weekend Trip to Sugarpine Slopes at Grouse Ridge

This was a great secluded camping area. We went in mid October so we had the place to ourselves. The pups enjoyed the ability to be off leash. We enjoyed the proximity to different lakes. It was so quiet we could hear the wings flap on the birds flying overhead. The sites have good space and it is nice to have the out house even with a trailer. Would definitely go again.

I enjoyed the stay! Going into the stay I was a bit nervous as I have never used Hip camp before and Kelley was super helpful/responsive to any questions I had. I would stay in Peral again, the trailer was clean and cozy. I live in the woods but it was a good change of environment and a great place to sit outside and listen to nature. Do try not to forget anything because the closest gas station is about 20-30mins away

Weekend Trip to Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF

This was our second time staying in Pearl for my birthday weekend (we came for the first time in 2023) and our stay did not disappoint! You can see and feel that Kelley puts a lot of intention into her home space and all the different sites and facilities. The sauna was a new experience this time, and it was SUCH a vibe. Being with the fire in the sauna as well as experience the bucket cold plunge was super healing and relaxing. It’s so nice that her spot is so close to emerald pools, too. Our little doggie had the time of his life roaming around and sunbathing. We will definitely be back again! Thanks Kelley for hosting us again 😌

Gary's direction to the farm were simply & exact. He has 4 camp sites, each with extensive & beautiful views over the Sierra Valley. He was very helpful and informative about the area. We were there for the last of the Farmers Markets. Great produce & ready to eat foods available. We had purchased tickets to the Sunday brunch as well - delicious & extensive menu. We couldn't stop eating. It was well worth it!

2 nights at Lahontan Shores High Desert Retreat

We loved our stay at Christina's land. It was easy to find with the directions Christina sent us and the campsite set up was great. We were on a long road trip so this was the perfect spot to stop for the night before we continued on. The views were incredible - we lucked out in having amazing clouds during the day, a great sunset and beautiful star gazing at night, couldn't have asked for more! It was very private, we never saw anyone other than some kayakers passing by, but it also felt very safe. It got very windy at night so be prepared for that and the beach down at the lake is very rocky but a great place to explore. We'd definitely come again!

Kelley is the type of host you will like to have at every stay during your trip. The communication with him second to none. And although I could stay at his placed because I forgot my medications at my other stay which prompted me to go back. I am pretty sure his placed will a reflection of his personality just great.
