This windy high desert village is Just 10 minutes from Plumas Forest (home to some of the area’s best-kept bouldering secrets) and only 30 seconds from the friendly Buck Inn Bar, you’ll be perfectly positioned for both adventure and relaxation. Enjoy a quiet rural escape just off the freeway, with endless forest fun and mountain views only moments away. Whether you’re here for climbing, exploring, or simply soaking in the peace of the high desert, O’Doyle Grade is your gateway to it all. It’s a sandy very windy desert tent camping is generally not advised but permitted.If for some reason you like the idea of desert camping but don’t need to be far away from folks this might be your spot. Located 45 minutes away from the Reno Tahoe Airport, and about the same from Susanville it’s just an eastern Sierra desert. Why no tent camping? Well it’s windy ….really windy. But if you are looking to car camp on a long road trip, decompress after burning man down the street, set up your hunting palace… I mean rv down in the village that lets your drive your toys on county roads this is it. I don’t know if you actually want to camp here so I’ve got a flat spot for ya. It’s raw desert, no trees just bushes, ya can see n hear the train and supplies are just down the street. You can tent camping here, but if ya don’t know what you are doing your tent my become airborne.
