What an absolutely amazing place this is. I can’t recommend this spot enough. The yurt is spectacular and the property is off the hooks! I am reluctant to leave a review because I wanna book this place again and not compete with y’all.
We were a group of 5, three adults and two teens. Four fit easily in the yurt. I slept on the porch the first night, but rain drove me into the yurt on the second night. We all fit comfortably, no problem at all.
We all walked to the carnivorous plant botanical garden and were absolutely blown away. So beautiful. The hike was a bit harder than I thought it would be, but definitely worth it.
After a nice lunch at the picnic table, we all walked down to the local swimming hole. It was absolutely spectacular. We had the whole place to ourselves. The water was perfect and my son had a great time looking for crawdads.
We went into Quincy for dinner on Saturday night. The brewery was hopping and had good food, beer, and vibes. We were trying to watch the World Cup, but they didn’t have TVs. We caught the game on my friend’s phone.
When we got back, we realized that one of the kids accidentally locked the door to the yurt. It was close to 9 PM, but when we texted the hosts, Keith promptly helped us out. He is such a kind person. He was not only helpful, but also uplifting, making sure we were all OK in a sticky situation. He got us in pretty quickly and I am so grateful for his attentiveness.

Stayed here with a group of six and we really enjoyed! Shower was hot and clean and Lori/Lucky were super responsive anytime we needed drinking water or anything else. The quiet out in the woods is unbelievable and the Yurt is centrally located to a lot of Plumas county hikes/lakes. We went to the Sierra buttes and Bucks lake which were both incredible. There are also plenty of deck chairs and a picnic table so you don’t need to bring a folding table or camp chairs. Overall would stay again in a heartbeat!

Lori's yourt is easily accessible, but incredibly secluded. The hosts are just as hidden someplace beyond the yrees, but available and responsive. If you need a true retreat, this is the spot! The heartfelt hospitality and " merak " is palpable as soon as you turn into the steep forest road with fun markets leading you to a hill where your aboard is awaiting you and your empty " to do list". Your children and furry kids can be let loose to roam happily and safely. Comfy bed with cozy bedding, kitchen with cute fridge and matching Fiesta plates. Hot shower and surprisingly fresh outside toilet with a pine canopy view. A meditative outdoor " forest sanctuary" awaits your zafi, yoga mat and presence!. If the art of doing nothing runs it's course, a hidden nature reserve for carnivore pitcher plants is a few miles away. The forest drive is treacherous, you may have to hike few miles in to the end of the road . A sign will point left to a footpath to " pitcher plant reserve". The forest has seen fire , so it will look like you missed the mark, until a sign marked " boardwalk" will lead you a bout 150 feet left to a large boggy clearing with scores of wildflowers, including the pitcher plant 's beautiful orchid -like blooms ( June 1st, 26). Well worth the effort. Bird-watchers will also be pleased in Butterfly valley and beyond. Another good excursion worth the 3 hours out of your private Paradise is Frasier falls via Quincy, it was going strong on June 1st. Fermament view from bed

Super awesome Yurt on a great piece of land with awesome hosts. Convenient to both a town with provisions and food and amazing outdoor activities while still feeling remote and in nature. Our dog especially had a blast.

The Butterfly Yurt is the perfect glamping spot! It's private, comfortable, and has just enough amenities to make the stay easy yet with the camping feel. Lori and Lucky were great hosts -- nearby if needed but out of sight and earshot. The location is great for access to Quincy, the Feather River canyon, the Lakes region (the hike to the Sierra Buttes lookout is epic!), swimming, hot springs, etc. Or just laze on the yurt's deck with a cup of coffee and read. We hope to go back again soon.

This was our first time camping in a yurt- or any premade structure for that matter! I couldn’t complain about a single thing, there was so much more provided in the yurt than we could have imagined. There is basically a full kitchen set up witch dishes and utensils, extra blankets, fire wood for the fire place, A SHOWER, toilet paper, lighters, even cooking oil! It was such a relaxing get away for my family and I. We had such a blast exploring the property, going to the swimming hole basically 3 minutes away, and just enjoying each others company. Although the structure itself is rather close to the home, it still feels so secluded and like you’re right in the middle of nowhere. If you’re thinking about pulling the trigger on something nice for camping, don’t bother looking anywhere else!

Butterfly Valley Yurt
This is a wonderful location! The land is peaceful and secluded. Great for a dog walk through the forest. I really appreciated the wood stove for the cold mornings and a nice hot shower. Highly recommended.

The butterfly valley yurt was great! We went the end of May and it was arm enough during the day to go swim in the swimming hole but cold enough at night to cuddle up! Lori had a fan, oven, some plates and utensils, and tons of blankets. Bed was comfortable enough. Outhouse didn’t stink and easy to use. Shower nozzle not too strong, but there was a shower and warm water!
Lori was very thoughtful in making sure there was potable water at the yurt for use. We came very prepared so didn’t really need much. There’s electric and a deck w a table and chairs to relax on. There’s a trash bin to leave ur trash.
The property is beautiful. There are neighbors around but not close enough to matter. This was the first adventure trip of our “new” dog. We weren’t sure how he would be, but he did great w the seclusion of the property. We will def be back!

The yurt was clean and spacious. It got fairly close to freezing one night and yet we didn't feel the need to fire up the wood stove. The kitchen has the basics, but foodies will want to bring their favorite cooking gear if they plan to throw down in the kitchen. It's a reasonably short walk to the river, which looked pretty ideal for swimming. The carnivorous plants in the nearby botanical garden are worth a visit. Both the hosts were really nice, as were their two dogs.
We'll definitely go back.

The property wasn’t quite what expected to be so close to other dwellings but it is gorgeous. The yurt is really nice. Could use a place to hang a coat, and the owners are wonderful. It was private enough and some amazing swimming holes near by. My one big issue was the place was filthy and not just… your in a yurt and it should be expected. We had to find places to stack all the bedding and didn’t want to touch the couch. Piles of dog hair on everything and don’t move any furniture! Uncleaned surfaces with food on it still that attracts mice so lock up your food! Overall as a camper and a guy… I didn’t mind much. It was beautiful, but for my wife, she was not happy. So… I can’t be either.

The property is comfortable and the owners took care to make sure we had everything we needed.
The bed is comfortable and plenty of warm blankets.
Being novice wood stove operators, it was a challenge to keep the fire going. No one’s fault.
Plenty of towels for the shower. Shower was comfortably warm.
The stove and oven worked well.
The most perfect part was the quiet beautiful woodland and wonderful walking paths. The dogs had a blast and so did we!

Great weekend trip with the girlfriend! It was chilly outside but with the wood stove it was very comfortable in the yurt. I really appreciated the instructions for how to properly use the stove, as someone who isn't super outdoorsy it felt beginner friendly. The appliances worked great as well!

We had a wonderful time at the Butterfly Valley Yurt! Lori and Keith were very nice and helpful. We loved the peacefulness of the location and the comfort of the yurt. Looking at the stars through the yurt was really something special. Can’t wait to return!

Camping upgraded! My 3rd visit and its always a wonderful time! Come to unplug and listen to the trees, light up the wood during stove on those cold nights, make a cozy meal, and explore nature!

Another great trip at Butterfly Valley Yurt! It’s always serene and peaceful at Lorie’s Property. We love the fact you can play in the River all day, then take a nice hot shower before dinner; while enjoying being secluded amongst all the trees. Thanks again Lorie, We’ll see you again soon.

Wonderful, private, clean yurt! Staying here reminded me why I love Hipcamp so much. You can’t get this type of experience in a hotel or house. I stayed with my two little kiddos and they’ll remember it for the rest of their lives! They were so excited to stay somewhere unique. The yurt was very well stocked with everything we needed and the shower house was amazing!! The privacy was excellent, could not see another house, only the pines.

our first time sleeping in a yurt and it won’t be our last. Lori and Keith make it feel like home away from home. Surroundings were absolutely beautiful and the swimming hole was amazing. there was a candle and some bug spray to keep the mosquitoes away, but would definitely recommend to bring more. The only thing we were confused about was in the description. It says trash bins are available, but it also says pack in pack out. we were unsure what we should do. We will definitely be going there again.

The yurt is awesome. Very well maintained and comfortable. The yurt and surrounding vault toilet and shower house sit above the personal property so you can't see anyone else around you. We spent our day exploring the surrounding area, even driving up to Caribou Rd and Lake Almanor.

I loved the privacy of the yurt location, my two dogs enjoyed walking around without a leash. The place felt cozy and having a hot shower was a plus after hiking all day. Really enjoyed the skylight at night.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay in Lori & Keith’s Yurt. There are a ton of outdoor adventure options available nearby. It was the perfect spot to enjoy the rivers, creeks, forest, and animals, while having a home base with all the creature comforts of home. The Yurt was very cozy, and we enjoyed sitting on the deck listening to the wind through the trees, watching the sunset, and enjoying the stars at night. Thank you for your hospitality, Lori & Keith, we will visit you again!

We just got home from our stay at the Butterfly Valley Yurt and have to say it was an incredible experience. Lori & Keith were super kind and welcoming, going out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Their warmth and attentiveness really made a difference. The views from the yurt were stunning, giving us a beautiful and peaceful place to relax. We also enjoyed the swimming holes nearby with our boys & dog, they were a hit. The 45 minute drive to Bucks lake was so worth it as well & highly recommended. The kids loved splashing around while I sunbathed on a large rock in the lake, the water is a comfy temperature.
