Some days we watch the electric storms across the valley, other afternoons we picnic and nap while listening to the birds and wind.  We love the peace and silence, which feels remarkably remote and only 20 minutes from Reno.  Learn more about this land: We would love to share our 12 junipered acres with nature enthusiasts like ourselves. Rustic ranch land only a stone's throw away from town. The historic Santosh Ranch is surrounding a 3,700 s/f warehouse "Shop" with a hot indoor shower available upon request. The Ecozoic bio-filter toilet is next to the red barn, and is available to all Hip Campers. We are walking distance to Lyon County Fairgrounds (kitty corner across the highway), the town of Yerington (one mile) and the Night in the Country location (two miles). There are a half dozen corrals and a few animal shelters, but has not had animals for years. Hip Campers can choose to back into one of the corral areas to have fenced off privacy especially with pets, and use of the animal shelter as shade. There are a pair of picnic tables and wood stump benches in the various camping areas. There is a fire pit behind the Shop that can only be used by the owner when it is not high-risk fire season. Also a gas stove BBQ in the shop. Both can be used upon request. We are in a high risk fire area so there are no fires allowed any time of the year unless indicated. There are relics from the 19th century when the Santosh Ranch was a working farm property. There is also the frame of one of the first automobiles ever built! The wheel spokes and the frame are made of wood, but the chassis where the engine one rested is made of steel. It is located next to the Ecozoic toilet.

New to RVing, and Retirement, And gaining experience Driving my Tacoma and 16 ft Trailer, cause getting there Tested my Truck, my Trailer, And Me. It was an Adventure. And really not that bad. We loved our stay at Christina's land. It was easy to find with the directions Christina sent us and the campsite set up was great. We were on a long road trip so this was the perfect spot to stop for the night before we continued on. The views were incredible - we lucked out in having amazing clouds during the day, a great sunset and beautiful star gazing at night, couldn't have asked for more! It was very private, we never saw anyone other than some kayakers passing by, but it also felt very safe. It got very windy at night so be prepared for that and the beach down at the lake is very rocky but a great place to explore. We'd definitely come again!

The Model Farm was an oasis in the desert. I’m from the East Coast and it was refreshing to camp on the pond and hear such vibrant birdlife after several weeks on the road. The site is just outside of town so it’s a convenient location to resupply if you’re on a longer trip!

Fun night at the Model Farm. Rustic but charming, highlighted by the pond full of ducks and all the birds! Julie and Tom were flexible about where we wanted to set up - we chose across the pond as a windbreak and for more privacy. Yes, there are a lot of dogs, but after their raucous welcome, no problem with sound or interfering with our dog. Thanks for your hospitlity!

Such a peaceful spot! The view over the lake was gorgeous, especially at sunset, and I loved how quiet it was at night. The dirt road was a little bumpy, but totally worth it. --- I'd definitely come back.

Brad is a fantastic host. We were among his first ‘hipcampers’. We got a flat on the way and had to be towed to site. Brad was very accommodating and offered to drive me in the quest for a new tire. We had a group campfire and enjoyed each other’s company. We parked on the side of a big shed and it was very private. The side is about a mile from the city which offered all the amenities. Including a RV repair and tire shop!

This spot was conveniently located and had plenty of room for RVs, tents, and even car campers like me. The host was super welcoming—he’s an author and knows a ton about the local history. We ended up sipping beers and watching the moonrise, which was a perfect way to end the day. Highly recommend if you're looking for a laid-back place with good energy and even better stories.
