# Peaceful Prairie Campsites Visit us and discover why Hipcamp has named Peaceful Prairie Campsites the **best Hipcamp to visit in Nebraska for the past three years.** Bordering the south side of Scotts Bluff National Monument, with private foot access into the park, we're less than two miles from Highway 71—making us **easy to find, easy to love, and easy to leave**, according to hundreds of guests who have shared their positive recommendations. Peaceful Prairie Campsites encompasses **200+ acres of beautiful prairie pasture bordering Scotts Bluff National Monument.** Under the care of fourth-generation steward Lisa Betz-Marquez, the dramatic bluffs create a stunning backdrop for those seeking a private and peaceful experience, birding and wildlife watching, or an adventure-seeking hike. ### A Great Home Base for Exploring Western Nebraska Our location also makes Peaceful Prairie a wonderful home base for exploring some of western Nebraska's most iconic landscapes and Oregon Trail history. In fact, you don't have to drive anywhere to experience our biggest attraction: **our prairie shares a boundary with Scotts Bluff National Monument**, and guests enjoy private foot access from our property into the south side of the Monument for hiking and exploring. The Monument's visitor center and historic Summit Road are only about 3 miles away by road. **Legacy of the Plains Museum is about 3 miles away, Wildcat Hills Nature Center about 11 miles, and iconic Chimney Rock just over 20 miles away.** Spend the day exploring, then come home to the prairie for sunset, wildlife, wide-open skies, and spectacular stargazing. ### Camping on the Prairie Our rustic prairie sites—welcoming tents, cars, vans, rooftop tents, truck campers, and motorcycles—are located directly on the prairie. RVs and pull-behind trailers are not permitted on the prairie sites. The prairie is a fragile environment, and protecting it is important to us. To preserve its beauty and health, trailers and RVs must book one of our designated RV sites. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us care for this special landscape. Our **RV sites offer 50-amp electricity** and a rustic camping experience on crushed concrete near our corral, with foot access to the prairie just steps away. All sites share access to delicious potable water from our underground well, a clean porta potty, and our funky outdoor camp shower with unheated water. Guests also enjoy private foot access to hiking at various levels of challenge on the south side of Scotts Bluff National Monument. A small group of yearling cattle calls the prairie home during portions of the summer and may share the prairie camping area with guests, particularly during May and June. Prairie guests have relished the feeling of having the place to themselves—to experience the majesty of the landscape, the magic of our star-filled night skies, and a soulful communion with the land. ### A Landscape With a Story Lisa is the **fourth generation of her family to live on Valley View Farm**, located directly south of the prairie. Her family has stewarded these lands since 1925, but her family's roots in the valley reach even further back. Lisa descends from one of the area's pioneer families. Her ancestor, **Martin Gering, arrived in the valley in 1887** and became an early investor in the fledgling town that would eventually bear his name: Gering, Nebraska. If you're a history buff, ask Lisa to tell you more. There's a lot of history beneath these wide-open skies.

Get away from the hustle and bustle and settle into life on a real working farm in western Nebraska. BE Farm is a specialty cut-flower and pumpkin farm that offers a peaceful, grounded escape with wide-open skies and a strong sense of place. Just over three hours from Denver, BE Farm is more than a place to spend the night—it’s a full immersion in farm life, nature, and fresh air. Nebraska’s iconic Chimney Rock is just 8 miles south, Scotts Bluff National Monument 25 miles west, and Carhenge 40 miles northeast, making day trips easy. At night, the Milky Way fills the sky—so bright it feels close enough to touch. The campsite is tucked along Wildhorse Creek, shaded by trees and surrounded by wildlife. Deer, raccoons, and native birds are frequent visitors, and rainbow and brown trout glide through the water (no fishing allowed). In summer, you may spot Farmer Billy tending crops or setting irrigation at sunrise or sunset—it’s all part of the rhythm of farm life here. During October, it’s Pumpkin Patch season, and campers are welcome to enjoy all the fall vibes BE Farm has to offer. BE Farm is a welcoming, inclusive, and friendly farm space. All are invited to come as they are and enjoy the farm with respect for one another and the land. Please note: From mid-September through the end of October, the farm is open to the public on Fridays (4 p.m.–dark), Saturdays (10 a.m.–9 p.m.), and Sundays (10 a.m.–6 p.m.). While other guests will be on the property during these hours, the campsite is set off to the side and designed to remain quiet and undisturbed. If you have any questions before booking, feel free to reach out—I’m happy to help make your stay a great one.

These campsites are mainly for car campers and tent campers, although small RVs up to 20 ft are welcome as well. We invite you to enjoy our organic vegetable seed farm with its trees, nearby water, and abundant wildlife. You’ll see pelicans, turtles, herons, and other creatures, plus a few non-poisonous bullsnakes that help keep the mice at bay. From our property, you’ll have the opportunity to experience nature on a working farm. Scotts Bluff National Monument is visible from the land and just a 15-minute drive away, along with the extensive Legacy of the Plains Museum. And nothing compares to a Nebraska sunrise or sunset, with skies exploding in unforgettable colors. We are experienced farmers, and Nathan is a master naturalist who can lead hikes at nearby sites, including the Wildcat Hills. We also offer our farm products—grass-fed hamburger, garlic, and vegetable seeds—available for sale year-round. Seasonal vegetables and eggs may also be available. Throughout the year, we host special events through the Living Environment Foundation. Our largest gatherings include the Ancestral Skills Festival in August and the Seed Fest in autumn. This is a century farm, and the barn you’ll see on the property is over 100 years old and still in great condition. These are also the ancestral lands of the Lakota tribe. We are grateful for their stewardship and aim to honor their tradition of caring for the land through our certified organic and biodynamic farming practices.
