The area is private, so there is no view of the neighbors. You’ll have a broken view of the Host’s Cabin. Camp is situated on 15.4 acres of Certified Family Forest. If you hear the rumble of a train at night, it's because the Union Pacific passes along the opposite edge of the property from the campsites. There is no mobile phone service at the campsite . There is WiFi at the campsite shelter. We strongly suggest you activate the “Cell over WiFi “ function on your smartphone BEFORE you arrive/lose cell signal so you can access Emergency 911 Services. There is a fire pit (firewood provided), covered shelter, a USFS-style charcoal grill, (bring charcoal and starter), picnic table, benches, bear-proof food storage box and TEMPORARY trash bin. OUR STORY: We (Tim and Molly) spent 14 years raising our young family in the desert heat of north Phoenix. Every summer we went dispersed camping as many weekends as possible with our four (now five) children in the backcountry mountain ranges of northern Arizona. We watched our family grow stronger together and sibling relationships flourish as the mental and emotional grime of the city grind was slowly washed from our souls during idle morning hangouts, afternoon hiking adventures and evening stories and laughs around the campfire. We had a particularly amazing mountaintop experience in 2014 backcountry camping over Labor Day Weekend where we felt a strong calling to share with others the blessings we were experiencing. Our hearts were impressed with a desire to host a place in the "wilderness" where people and families could escape and unwind from the noise and pace of city life for a few days and maybe even have a mountaintop experience of their own. After several years of waiting for the right timing, we started exploring and found this place in January 2019. By April we had sold our home in Phoenix and moved our family 2,000 miles north to this 27 acre property on a mountain of Hope. Traveling this gorgeous country extensively since she was 12 years old, Charlie fell in love with the west and North Idaho. Finally, in 2016 she purchased this little slice of paradise in the remote Far North Idaho wilderness where she turned an old hunting property into an Offgrid Homestead. While many places have been stripped of trees only to be replanted by all the same species, this place was sustainably and privately logged and much of the natural tree diversity exists. Not many places can you find many different firs, pines, larch, cedar, alders, and birch all in one place. Perched at the edge of wilderness areas, national forests, and timberlands but just off a main road, you find yourself transported into the wild in a short drive! The property is frequented daily by all types of wildlife and is hugged by TWO mountain ranges. The homestead is managed in a permaculture design with back-to-Eden and HuglekulUtr gardens to have minimal impact on the land. We're just a 15 minute drive to Bonners Ferry where you can enjoy the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge, Snow Creek Falls, rent kayaks and venture on the Kootenai River, visit the Boundary County Museum, an Antique Mall on the way to town is always full of treasures, play at Kootenai Casino, visit wineries and breweries, many great local restaurants boasting great cuisine with small town charm including an AMAZING farmers market every Saturday May - September and great downtown shopping. Or if you are up for a scenic drive you can venture to visit the Yaak Falls, Kootenai Falls, Ross Creek Cedars, Baldy Lookout, Schweitzer Ski Resort, and much more. Here at our little offgrid homestead you have choice of tent camping in the forest or tent/van/car/rv camping in our field next to the Larch grove and Timberland property. With the river close by eagles are frequently soaring overhead. Turkey, deer, and elk are passing through daily. And there is no neighbors to be seen except our small chicken flock and you may be greeted by Buddy the Dog! Although if you are not a dog person feel free to let us know and we will accommodate you! If you have any questions about local activities, we'll happily provide you with great ideas and directions. Farm fresh eggs and firewood available for purchase and 5 gallons of non-potable water available with use of provided offgrid foot pump sink. Please note there is no cell service. If you want peace and minimal contact we can email everything in advance to have your accommodations met upon arrival and if you want to stop and chat about local activities or the offgrid homestead life just say the word; we're happy to be hosting you and want to make your experience a good one in any way we can! This is a wild and exposed setting on a steep grass/dirt driveway that best suits Overland and Truck Camper type all terrain vehicles. This is an adventurous site on the Kootenai River with tall pines, and steep rock scrambles to the water where the fish often bite. There are 2 area’s present marked with room for more if your group is larger. The lower scenic space is good for one rig, and the upper space will hold a few rigs if that is needed. All-wheel/four-wheel drive recommended. There is cell service for most carriers if you need it, but NO other utilities are present on-site. There is potable water and black/gray dump available in town. Turn right just after 86 Tall Timber Rd and drive 1000ft down the grass driveway to the landing area and enjoy! Our winter visit to the Far North was excellent. The cabin was a perfect place to spend time together. We loved the selection of books available to visitors during our stay. It was great to have kitchen equipment and to use it easily. The fireplace kept us nice and cozy on snowy, cold days outside. The Views are stunning, with no one around but our family. It was ‘dry’ camping because of the late season, but that did not stop us from having quality time together. I love that Paul provides firewood. He was great at communication and make us so welcome at his property.

What a great spot! Paul is a welcoming host that has set up a great site for guests. There is a nice building with a shower, and a separate toilet building. It’s a beautiful, peaceful, nicely maintained property. My dogs were very at home there. I would love to stay there again.

Weekend Trip to Hymas Family Farm Stay

We loved our stay at the farm! The tent was private in the woods and we came up to the farm’s shop for fresh ice cream and fresh eggs and also paid extra to help milk a cow haha our daughter loved the cows! The zipper didn’t work on the tent but otherwise everything was so lovely. We used the cook stove and they had some cook supplies in there too which was super nice. Would definitely recommend , I always wanted to try out glamping and the whole family had a lot of fun with it.

We really enjoyed our time at the Cedar Grove Campsite! The setting was beautiful, peaceful and serene. The river was just yards away from our camper. The bathroom and shower buildings were very clean and well equipped. We were able to explore the property freely and felt comfortable and able to relax. Our dog was able to roam around with us as well. She loved it! Paul was easy to communicate with annd answered all of our questions ahead of arrival. Highly recommend the Copper Creek Falls hike. Short and easy, with picturesque falls at the end!

The Hosts are so solid. People you want in your life. Kind, genuine. For me this is important and makes all the difference in this life and especially when sharing community. However, It wouldn’t really matter if you didn’t like them anyway, because in the whispering woods of their remote property, the cabin is on its own level. You’re all alone in the Magic of the hill top. Great place to reset, write, read. Or, Do absolutely nothing with your dog. Also a good jump off point to many trails and everything Panhandle. 20 minutes from Sandpoint. We came from Priest Lake and were headed to Glacier via the Swinging Bridge route on 2. Good pillows, comfortable bed, cast iron, games, telescope, wall of windows, yet so private. Only the soaring Eagles will see you. Doug brought me maps and books and Jessica brought me solutions for anything that came up along my way. Great communication. Reliable. Fair. Not for the Bougie. Unless you’re trying to come back to earth.

Weekend Trip to ALMOST TO CANADA - FAR NORTH IDAHO

Loved Paul’s little slice of the outdoors. Everything was thought of. Hookups , Bath house and bathroom right near the site. Lots of privacy. My boys loved fishing and exploring across the river, and Copper falls was a good hour excursion right around the corner. Only thing I accidentally over looked was this place is by the railroad. My toddler wasn’t such a super fan of that in the middle of the night , so if you’re tenting it just be aware it comes a couple times at night. Mosquitos are vicious - pack allllll the candles, spray and torches- day and night. We will be back next year, this place is so tranquil and leaves so much to be appreciated .

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chris and Michal’s campsite! They have loaded it with everything you could need, plus a ton of extras, to make for the best camping experience. The location was perfect and just what we were looking for- close enough to town and the lake, but far enough to see the starts at night and listen to nature. 10/10 experience and I hope we can visit again!
