ALMOST TO CANADA - FAR NORTH IDAHO

3 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents16 acres · Bonners Ferry, ID
Note: We have a Bonners Ferry, ID mailing address but our physical location is approximately 30 miles North of Bonners Ferry and 1 mile South of Eastport, ID. We are a mile South of the Canadian Border just off US 95. 2024 SEASON INFO - Please note, due to below freezing nighttime temps it is likely our shower facility and on-site cabin water (other water available) will not be reopened until May15. We strive to reopen it as early as Mother Nature allows but can’t guarantee those amenities until mid May. New for 2024 we will have a swing set down by the river below the campsite. It is a common use amenity open to River Cabin and Campsite guests. Adult supervision is required. Thank you. You are in a forest on land shaped by the last Ice Age, The forest has nurtured generations of of wildlife including majestic birds of prey. It sustained the Kootenai People before borders separated their lands. It saw determined miners pass this way seeking their fortune in gold from British Columbia. This forest supplied timber to build railroads and homes for families in the western migration. Our family is the current steward of this forest and it is our wish to respectfully share its beauty and observe its wildlife with your family and friends! Our Forest is surrounded by Kaniksu National Forest which is managed by the United States Forest Service (USFS) as part of the Idaho Panhandle. National Forest.. The Moyie River ( say Moy-yay) has headwaters at Moyie Lake in British Columbia and feeds into the Kootenai River (say Koo-ten-e) just East of Bonners Ferry. The Moyie River is 95 miles long. The area is private, so there is no view of the neighbors. You’ll have a broken view of the Host’s Cabin. Camp is situated on 15.4 acres of Certified Family Forest. If you hear the rumble of a train at night, it's because the Union Pacific passes along the opposite edge of the property from the campsites. There is no mobile phone service at the campsite . There is WiFi at the campsite shelter. We strongly suggest you activate the “Cell over WiFi “ function on your smartphone BEFORE you arrive/lose cell signal so you can access Emergency 911 Services. Please plan to "pack-out" all of your trash and recyclables. There are a lot of deer roaming the property, along with many birds and other wildlife . OUR NIGHTLY CHARGE Includes all the firewood you need and a 10% Hipcamp Service Fee. It does not include 6% Idaho Sales Tax and 2% Idaho Convention and Travel Tax. Be Bear Aware : From April 1 - November 1 all food, beverages and trash must never be left unattended and, all of the same, be stored properly. Nonetheless Offgrid Homestead

3 sites · RVs, Tents10 acres · Moyie Springs, ID
Traveling this gorgeous country extensively since she was 12 years old, Charlie fell in love with the west and North Idaho. Finally, in 2016 she purchased this little slice of paradise in the remote Far North Idaho wilderness where she turned an old hunting property into an Offgrid Homestead. While many places have been stripped of trees only to be replanted by all the same species, this place was sustainably and privately logged and much of the natural tree diversity exists. Not many places can you find many different furs, pines, larch, cedar, alders, and birch all in one place.  Perched at the edge of wilderness areas, national forests, and timberlands but just off a main road, you find yourself transported into the wild in a short drive! The property is frequented daily by all types of wildlife and is hugged by TWO mountain ranges. The homestead is managed in a permaculture design with back-to-Eden and HuglekulUtr gardens to have minimal impact on the land. Learn more about this land:Easy access just 1/2 mile off main paved road with views of BOTH the Purcell and Cabinet Mountain Ranges. Our little slice of paradise is a great stop on your way to/from Glacier National Park (100 mi) or to come enjoy all that North Idaho and Western Montana has to offer. We are just a few miles from the Montana border and you can walk from your campsite to Kaniksu National Forest. We're just a 15 minute drive to Bonners Ferry where you can enjoy the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge, Snow Creek Falls, rent kayaks and venture on the Kootenai River, visit the Boundary County Museum, an Antique Mall on the way to town is always full of treasures, play at Kootenai Casino, visit wineries and breweries, many great local restaurants boasting great cuisine with small town charm including an AMAZING farmers market every Saturday May - September and great downtown shopping. Or if you are up for a scenic drive you can venture to visit the Yaak Falls, Kootenai Falls, Ross Creek Cedars, Baldy Lookout, Schweitzer Ski Resort, and much more. Here at our little offgrid homestead you have choice of tent camping in the forest or tent/van/car/rv camping in our field next to the Larch grove and Timberland property. With the river close by eagles are frequently soaring overhead. Turkey, deer, and elk are passing through daily. And there is no neighbors to be seen except our small chicken flock and you may be greeted by Buddy the Dog! Although if you are not a dog person feel free to let us know and we will accommodate you! If you have any questions about local activities, we'll happily provide you with great ideas and directions. Farm fresh eggs and firewood available for purchase and 5 gallons of non-potable water available with use of provided offgrid foot pump sink. Please note there is no cell service. If you want peace and minimal contact we can email everything in advance to have your accommodations met upon arrival and if you want to stop and chat about local activities or the offgrid homestead life just say the word; we're happy to be hosting you and want to make your experience a good one in any way we can! Groups welcome! There are several locations where you can camp separately or together. RVs limited to dry seasons May-September due to road conditions. While we are not far off the main road our road and drive require 4x4 October - April.

A Place to Stay West Kootenai

1 site · RV, Tent3 acres · Rexford, MT
A Place to Stay was purchased by the Dessaint Kimura Family in November 2011 from Pastor Andy Yoder.  The home is often referred to by the community as "The Bishop's Place".   A Place to Stay is a get away from it all; unplug, unwind and reconnect with our children and ourselves kind of place!  In many big cities that just doesn't always seem possible.  In the West Kootenai it definitely is! A Place to Stay is simply that!   A welcome respite after a long day of travel.  By the time you get to the West Kootenai you will appreciate the fact that there is A Place to Stay.   A Place to Stay is a simple place to take a load off and nestle in for a day or two while you explore the vast, beautiful wilderness of Montana.   A Place to Stay was originally Amish Built by a growing Amish community in the late 90's.  You will see and experience some of the little things that are obviously Amish as you explore the property and surrounding areas.  We are nestled between the Montana Woodworks, the Amish School House and the Kootenai Kraft & Grocery.  You are remote and at the same time in the thick of town life.  One of my favorite things to see as I sit at my desk is a cowboy riding a horse while talking on his cell phone.  The vast, dark, starry nights are something to behold.   Enjoy your stay!  Learn more about this land:***Due to Covid we are only accepting reservations from people who have self-supporting campers with toilet/shower combos.  There is no access to the house at this time***Our little corner of the world is located in a remote corner of NW Montana just a couple of miles south of the Canadian Border.  We have 2.5 acres, nestled between the Amish School House, the Kootenai General Store and the Amish Woodworks shop.  The nights are incredibly starry - as if you are traveling through space and can reach out to touch the heavens.  Feel free to set up camp anyplace within the green grassy areas.  The horses in the pasture belong to the neighbors.  Please respect their wishes.  There is a fire pit out front as well as a hose and workshop. Hip Campers may use the bath and shower on the main level but please do not disturb the rest of the house as visitors may come and go at various times.   Hike up to Mt. Robson or go swimming in the KooCanUSA reservoir.  Although very few people live in the area, this is the hub of the village.   Being on the West Kootenai is like traveling back in time to the days of Little House on the Prairie.  Please consider leaving $20 on the table for the local neighbor ladies who will clean the bathroom and wash the towels after your visit.  Thank you!
