Only a mile behind our house is a state wildlife management area and beyond that National Forest and then the Welcome Creek Wilderness. We have a greenhouse and garden on site but our major vegetable growing operation is down in the valley. Lots of wildlife travel through our lot, including a number of owls. In our first five years here we have seen five different owl species, which gives the cabin its name! We have two resident cats and a blue heeler, along with chickens who free roam and you will likely meet.

Between the mapping and the directions given, it was easy to get to. I was on a cross country trip and got in at just about midnight on a rainy night, but still had no problem finding it. Nice and private, perfect for my dogs to run around while I set up camp in my truck. About 12 minutes from the freeway, I enjoyed driving just enough off the main road to get to some seclusion.

We loved this peaceful place! The Airstream is beautifully done and very comfortable. We stayed for 3 nights and loved every second of it! We mostly hung out by the outside fireplace soaking up the views and fresh air. Our dogs were in heaven and it was nice they could just hang out and be dogs:) The location makes you feel like you’re away from it all, yet you’re close enough to Missoula to get anything you need. Corey is a great host and made sure we were comfortable. We definitely feel well rested and restored after our stay. I can’t recommend this place enough, we will be back!

We had a late arrival, and an early morning, but after we settled in, this was such a dreamy stay! It was an adventure to get there in the dark, and we were careful on the rocky road up to the spot. Our host recommends a higher clearance, which is necessary. The sky is so big up there! Wow! The stars!!! The tipi was very cozy, and the bed was super comfy. ... And the morning - the coyotes yipping in the distance, a screech owl, the expansive view of the mountains in every direction, sunset colours with the tipi in the foreground... it was truly a one of kind experience. Our only regrets is not having more time relax and enjoy, or use all the amenities, like the outdoor shower (it has hot water!). Our host was so wonderfully accommodating as we scrambled to make arrangements. Thank you for everything! And for sharing this beautiful chunk of Montana with us. (And ps. We loved Anaconda too... such a charmer of a town!)
