We live on ten acres tucked in the pines at the foot of the Sapphire mountains with views west of the broad Bitterroot Valley and the stunning Bitterroot Mountains. Only a mile behind our house is a state wildlife management area and beyond that National Forest and then the Welcome Creek Wilderness. We have a greenhouse and garden on site but our major vegetable growing operation is down in the valley. Lots of wildlife travel through our lot, including a number of owls. In our first five years here we have seen five different owl species, which gives the cabin its name! We have two resident cats and a blue heeler, along with chickens who free roam and you will likely meet.

We are small town Kansas natives who fell in love with Montana over 15 years ago. This property is equal parts privacy and concience, you can enjoy the peace and quite of nature while also having the ability to hop over a few miles to our little town for groceries, a local beer, or to gas up your car! The Holmestead is a rustic dry cabin on 5 acres nestled between Mill Creek and a seasonal run off stream with easy access to the highway and only a 10 min drive to Missoula. A queen bed, futon and air mattress are available for sleeping! Family and pet friendly property with plenty of space to pitch a tent next to the cabin if you have more guests in your party (tents will be an additional fee, $10 per person in addition to the 4 person cabin max). Excellent cell service if you have Verizon or carriers that pull from those towers. Attractions: Walking distance to forestry service roads. 15 minutes to the Missoula Airport and an additional 10 minutes to the heart of Missoula and all it has to offer. If you are looking for more adventure there is always an endless amount of recreation near, whether you want to drive 5 minutes to mountain bike or 3 hours to Glacier National Park, there is something for everyone! If you have questions about fun things to do please reach out to us! Parking: Reserved parking for guests in the main driveway or in the clearing near the cabin. Water: Portable toilet onsite, sealson warm shower and sink also available, we recently upgraded to a JOOLCA hot water system so guests can have running water and a warm outdoor shower. We provide 5 gal of potable water in the colder months and have running water nearby for easy refill of water containers if needed in the warmer months. We look forward to sharing our piece of Montana with you! Pets allowed. We do have 2 very frienly dogs that roam the property freely, if you pet is reactive please let us know so we can monitor our dogs when letting them outside to do their business. 1 night at Ridgeline Retreat

Between the mapping and the directions given, it was easy to get to. I was on a cross country trip and got in at just about midnight on a rainy night, but still had no problem finding it. Nice and private, perfect for my dogs to run around while I set up camp in my truck. About 12 minutes from the freeway, I enjoyed driving just enough off the main road to get to some seclusion.

Geof really is a super-star host and his land is a dream! We stayed in the A Frame right next to the creek and listened to the water and owls hooting at night. We loved watching piggies, petting donkeys and playing with the sweet dogs. Geof was super accommodating and we can’t wait to go back!

I ended up at Cody’s at kind of the last second and he and his wife were very welcoming and easy to communicate with. The space is really clean and well kept. Me and my dogs slept great. I would have booked another night but had plans for the next evening already. I highly recommend this spot - a steal for the price.

We stayed in the dry cabin while traveling home from our hiking trip. It was perfect! Cody and his family were very welcoming, to include his dog! The cabin itself is amazing! It’s clean and well taken care of. There is also a little seating area down by the creek to hang out and enjoy the sounds of nature. We also saw a ton of deer around. I would 10/10 stay here again.

We really enjoyed our time here! We stayed a night as part of our honeymoon traveling through Montana. It is very peaceful and quiet, beautiful surroundings with the mountains and creek, and the animals are really sweet and fun to be around. The bed is super comfy and cozy and we slept so well in the A frame. The camper with the shower is really cool and the hot shower was a very nice treat. It was a pleasure meeting and chatting with Geof. Would love to stay here again some day!

This place is magical! The little seasonal creek in front of the cabin, the tall cottonwoods, the bigger creek tucked into the trees and even the purple flowers of the thistle as you walk the trail to get there were all so beautiful. We spent our days on the cabin porch listening to bird song and enjoying visits from the hummingbirds, Pumpkin the cat and the friendliest dogs who brightened our mornings. Cody was an awesome host, accommodating and helpful. Having spent most of our journey tent camping, the cabin was a luxury - clean and cozy with comfortable beds, a powerful fan for a warm day and a little grill and hot plate for warm meals. We loved it so much we extended our stay by a day and can't wait to go back!

My husband and I were warmly welcomed by Geof when we arrived. We camped by the river, which lulled us to sleep every night. The bed was comfy and large. I get cold easily and was concerned that the A frame would be too cold in the middle of the night. My husband and I slept like a baby and I was not cold at all. The outhouse was near by. I learned that pouring bark in the toilet will keep the odor down. There was a converted a small trailer into the cutest shower and dressing area. Only had an issue with controlling the hot and cold water but all else was great. Their dogs are well behaved, love to play catch. One pup in particular was clearly playing hide and seek. He would bring the ball or stick and then run to hide behind a near by bench and would peer through the slats until I threw the ball or stick. He would appear and go after it and do the same. None of the dogs jumped on us or were pushy about playing. It was devastating to hear that a guest ran over and killed one of these precious members of the family. Please be careful when you drive onto the property. Pets are part of a family and are loved just as well. Please be cautious.

We rolled the dice on this Hipcamp gem and hit the jackpot! Originally planned for one night, but after experiencing night one, extending was a no-brainer. Doug, the host, is seriously the best – super friendly and genuinely helpful. The whole place is incredibly well-maintained; even the bathrooms feel like they belong in a fancy hotel. Our "converted chapel" stay was a highlight, with a stunning stained glass window painting the room with light. You've also got a top-notch community kitchen (restaurant-grade stove, anyone?), a rad games room, and the river literally bubbling right outside, loud enough to be your personal soundtrack. Don't sleep on this one!

Weekend Trip to Boulder Creek Lodge & RV Park

This placed exceeded my expectations. The cabin was spacious, had a fan, electricity, and everything I could need otherwise was available in the lodge or in nice bathroom areas around the complex. The Chapel is one of the spaces that allows dogs, and she was very comfortable walking all the shaded trails be the river. This is not your average RV pull-in spot. The host was very helpful, even pulling out a hose and metal bucket so my boyfriend and I could sift dirt we bought at the lodge in search of sapphires (we found several). I will be going back.

This is a splendid creekside paradise, an incredibly special place. The location is unbeatable. The flowing creek, the cabin, animals, birds, tranquility, and welcoming hospitality of the hosts is incredible. The cabin is so clean, bed is comfortable, fire pit and chairs and all the thoughtful touches made it feel heavenly. The camper trailer shower is amazing and they have the cleanest portable toilet I’ve ever been in, and my goodness the animals were so friendly and adorable! This is the spot for the best camping/glamping experience. You will love staying here. Highly recommend.
