This booking offers the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We are located just 3 miles northeast of Elk City, ID. You drive 50 miles back into the forest (on a paved road) to get here and take the same road to leave. This cabin offers 3 bedrooms plus an open loft bedroom. It has 3 queen size beds and 2 twin beds. All bedding is provided. Maximum occupancy is 6 campers. We offer a full kitchen, stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, etc plus all pots, pans, cutlery. All you need to provide is food. The property has one bath with toilet, sink and bath/shower and towels are provided for each guest. Additionally, it has high speed Starlink internet for watching Roku TV and making cell phone calls and staying current with world events. Additional parking is provided on the property for “toy hauler” trailers. The property borders almost 3 million acres of a national Forest and Wilderness. Many of the gravel roads are suitable for your standard 2 wheeler drive car. If you are more adventurous 4 wheel drive will get you a little deeper into the woods. For maximum exploration bring your UTV/ATV and you can go almost anywhere. A day hike is another option, you can drive your car to one of the many gated roads/trails and hike into a pristine lake in the wilderness for a day of fishing or sightseeing. Gallogly Hot Springs, also known as Lost Trail Hot Springs since the 1970s, offers a unique retreat for travelers crossing the Continental Divide at Gibbons Pass. Nestled in a secluded area, this natural hot spring has served as a peaceful resting spot for those embarking on the challenging ascent of the old Indian trail, which climbs approximately 2,000 feet over just three miles. The soothing waters provide a perfect respite before tackling the strenuous journey ahead.
The history of Gallogly Hot Springs dates back to 1892 when a woman built a cabin to keep her invalid son close to the healing waters. Although she only stayed for about two years and left the cabin unfinished, her efforts marked the beginning of human connection to this tranquil site. In 1894, Mr. Denning became the first to channel the hot water through a pipe to his comfortable cabin, which featured a cozy stone fireplace located about a quarter-mile from the springs. Unfortunately, fate intervened when a tree fell and crushed his cabin while he was away, prompting him to relocate.
Today, Gallogly Hot Springs remains a hidden gem, inviting visitors to experience its natural beauty and therapeutic waters. The surrounding landscape offers opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, exploring nearby swimming holes, and enjoying the serene environment.

We had a great stay at Doug and Shannon’s cabin! Located close to Salmon, but still remote and private. We stayed plenty warm in the cabin, and enjoyed the swing by the water. Would definitely recommend and would stay again next time we are in the area!

Weekend Trip to The Meadow
This was a very cute and homey cabin, perfect for a weekend getaway with my boyfriend. He originally wanted to camp, so even though the cabin is rustic, it was perfect for us. I especially enjoyed sitting on the loveseat on the porch. And having a coffee maker! The hosts were so friendly and welcoming.

This site was beautiful! Lynda was so kind and helpful. There is a nice trail near the cabin and is easily accessible (it is steep though!). The cabin was perfect, the pictures don’t do it justice. Our dog loved the fenced in area. It’s also the perfect place to look at the stars. Highly recommend!

An absolutely lovely spot to relax for a day or a week. We wish we could have stayed all month!
The creek rushes by, cold and perfectly refreshing on a hot day. The cabin is adorable, comfortable, and well supplied. The outdoor kitchen, including fire pit, has everything one needs to cook gourmet camp meals and clean up afterwards. The nearby aspen groves are perfect for hammocks and shade any time of day.
We had just enough cell service (Verizon) in the meadow to stream Spotify and check our phones occasionally, though we did our best to keep them hidden away. Hosts are delightful—welcoming, accommodating, and generous. We bought lavender lotions and lip balm made right on site and enjoyed conversations with the whole family.
We will definitely be back, hopefully soon!

Lynda responded well to my questions and was a great, friendly host. The views were vast and beautiful. The cabin was just right for me and my husband - coffee, views, and trails was all we needed. Beautiful mountain lakes and waterfalls. Well worth the hike upwards. Be sure to pack in lots of water from the campground or bring your filter.
