This land has been asking to be shared. First it was swings and little things for the grandchildren and their friends. Then the Cabin by the pond began to welcome visitors. Soon the steep slope anchored a Yurt with a wrap-around deck that puts you up in the trees. Our gathering spot by the creek became a camp site. Recently the grandkids' Bunk House found its way in. Our Retreat is 10 acres, narrow, but 1/4 mile deep, stretching down a steep wooded slope to a creek - and up the other side to the top of a bluff. It is only ten miles to Jefferson City but has a quiet and distant feel.

Narrative about Selby Farm:
Selbys have lived on this farm since 1990. Doug and Brenda are retired from teaching at nearby public schools. Our Farm is now dedicated to boarding retired horses for their owners.
We practice rotational grazing for the health of the horses and the health of our pastures. The horses live in a herd as they would in the wild. Basically, they are hanging out with their friends! They also get regular care and feed and so are VERY happy. You will see and probably interact with the horses if you wish. They are guaranteed to come closer if you have treats like carrots and apples slices.
Our quiet county road used to be the main road along the river. A hundred years ago it was called "Shanty Road". The shacks that were along it housed workers that harvested food from farms in the river bottom. The only evidence of those shacks now is perrenial flowers growing in unusual places. The area is inhabited by professionals working in nearby towns and cities. In fact there are only five homes along our 1.5 mile section of Copps Chapel Road.
The Missouri River is on the far side of the bottoms now, but has been very close historically. There is also a large spring flowing from a cave nearby. These river hills are composed of soils blown in from the end of the last ice age. Being near the river, erosion has cut down the surrounding area making the scenic topography associated with Missouri River valleys and river hills.

A literal 30 acre pocket of paradise tucked away just minutes North of Columbia, MO. Leon and Elizabeth were wonderful hosts! I had no issues getting to their property and they were so nice and accommodating! They had everything you could need there, realistically I could have just packed food and clothes and nothing else and would have been fine! I had a beautiful and relaxing weekend, and I was solo traveling and they made me feel very safe and welcomed! The only thing I could "complain" about is a little road noise, which is completely fine and obviously not their fault whatsoever and out of their control! They were awesome and I will be coming back!

Was the perfect distance from the interstate. Not too far, but far enough to be quiet and relaxing. Enjoyed the horses and the peacefulness.

We were unable to make it but I didn’t see an option to cancel. Didn’t mind paying since we didn’t know we wouldn’t be able to make it until very late in the day. The system needs to provide a method to cancel, even if no refund is available. May already exist and I missed it.

This property is top tier. I set my tent up in the treehouse (not nearly as daunting as I thought it might be) and everything was beautiful, very private and peaceful and serene. Doug and Brenda and Johnny are all incredibly kind, and so helpful when my car had issues, and despite the stress I still managed to have a delightful time because of the space they’re properly afforded. Awesome sunrise and sunset views, good stargazing, lovely horses and dogs. Can’t recommend highly enough!

We had our Sprinter so stayed in the RV spot. Really one of the nicest Hipcamps we have stayed in. The property is beautiful, Amanda the host is very friendly and willing to chat. The pond is full of bass if fishing is your thing. You really feel a million miles away from things but you are only 10 minutes off of route 70. A great stay overall.

very private and secluded. The property is absolutely incredible. What a gem. I had a great time exploring all the trails and caves and rock walls. My pup enjoyed the place as much as I did. we had the whole rec area to ourselves. I celebrated my 50th birthday out there and I don't think I could have topped it elsewhere. Love your land. I'll be back and I'll let all I know that this is a must see if traveling across Missouri. Thank you very much.
