Our northern boundary is a tract of DeSoto National Forest, where we have practically exclusive access to another 90 acres of longleaf pine savannah and more bottomland creeks. The sandhills are a "desert in the rain," home to prickly pear cactus and yuccas, abundant lichens (deer "moss"), the endangered black pine snake, and our mascot, the also endangered Gopher Tortoise. We're a nature education and retreat center where we share permaculture practices, homesteading/sustainable living skills, conservation practices, and approaches to connecting more deeply to the land. Check out our sister non-profit, the Burrow Nature Center. 95 acres on the beautiful Topisaw Creek. Here we've raised 5 kids and a multitude of dogs, cats and chickens and a small herd of pineywoods cattle. The woods are quiet and undisturbed , harboring native species like jack in the pulpit, trillium and Florida anise. The spring-fed (and thus always refreshing!) Topisaw Creek forms the eastern border of our property, so plan to spend time on the sandy beaches and rock bars soaking up the sun or hunting for rocks and fossils (petrified wood and arrowheads have been found here). Many folks also enjoy a leisurely float down the creek in inner tubes ('tubing') or in a kayak. (Please note that after heavy rains the creek rises to epic heights and is too dangerous to navigate.) Little to no light pollution makes for amazing stargazing!

We had a magnificent stay! We booked at the very last second because our previous reservation fell through suddenly - and it was a blessing in disguise! This property is so big and full of adventures and projects to look at. Special shout-out to the fishing pond!! My friends and I barely know anything about fishing and we discovered a lifelong hobby!!! The hosts were also incredibly kind & patient & generous with their time/care. From the moment we arrived it felt warm & comfortable. Also the farm dogs are so so so so lovable. We actually miss them - Mo will play fetch for hours and bring you cool trinkets ❤️

Weekend Trip to Heavenly Grace Farm

We arrived Friday & had a fun time till we left Sunday. The property, the pond, & Ms. Erica were great. Ms. Erica even helped us out with some extra sleeping bags when the night time temps dropped lower than expected. From fishing in the pond to seeing all the animals, our grand-kids enjoyed & learned a lot on the farm setting. We’ll certainly add it to our “let’s go back” list!

We really enjoyed our weekend on John’s land, and wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Beautiful countryside, and our little girls really enjoyed all of the animals. Didn’t try our hand at fishing this trip, but did take a stroll around the property on a perfectly manicured path. Great cell signal for streaming some Saturday afternoon football. We slid over to RV1, and it was a super-easy back-in

Great spot! The site had a nice flattened area for my tent a little into a wooded area. I was able to hang my hammock. And the spot is right in the edge of the walking trails which was lovely. I also had some car troubles and Jordan was very responsive and helpful!

Such a great time! Alicia was a great host. Her husband CJ was friendly from the start and answered our questions. Lovely campground area. Sites are far away enough to feel private but close enough if we needed anything. Bathroom is convenient. Quiet and peaceful, we didn’t mind the early rooster crow and it’s probably not heard unless you’re closer to the animals. We didn’t want to leave. Looking forward to next time! :)

Weekend Trip to Camp Topisaw

We tent camped on the creek side sandbar. It was a group of 5 of us and a dog. David welcomed us at the site, he was friendly and answered all questions we had. The site had a bbq grill, a patio table and 4 chairs, and an outhouse that was close by. There was enough parking for our 3 vehicles so no problems there. The site wasn’t close by to other campers and felt very private which was nice. The creek was a little chilly but we were in it the majority of the days anyway, and the dog loved it. If you’re in to rock hunting this spot is for you! Bunch of neat things to find in and near the creek. I would also recommend some kind of water shoe for the rocky spots (if you have city feet like me) Overall, we had nothing negative to say about this place. Everything was great and we will be returning in the future!

Everything went well! It was an easy in and easy out location. All the hook ups worked great. Hosts were friendly and helpful, but gave you privacy, as well. Property was landscaped beautifully with gorgeous flowers and surrounded by forest. Site was level. It was just an all-around great place to stop!
